Chapter 137 Earth Wasteland Arc (3)

Chapter 2 The Second Roar

The second roar arrived as expected a few seconds later. This time, with Feng Bujue and Kuang Zong Jian Ying's full attention, they naturally heard the monster's location clearly. They exchanged glances and moved towards that direction together.

Their pace was slow, but very quiet. Feng Bujue switched his mask back to the non-display state, then took the [Eyes of Hatred] from his knapsack and put them on. In the previous few scenarios, he had either acted alone or encountered situations like the Death Quiz, so he hadn't used this equipment in a long time. The current situation was perfect for putting it to good use.

Although there were lights in the corridor, they weren't very complete. Every so often, there would be a bright area of white light, followed by about fifteen meters of dimness, and then another bright area… and so on. That's why Feng Bujue took out a flashlight to explore, mainly worried about missing any game clues in the dark sections.

The two tiptoed along the corridor to a T-junction ahead. During this time, the unknown monster's growl sounded again, even louder than the previous two times.

They stopped at the crossroads and looked to the left. About twenty meters down that corridor was the end, where there was a thick metal door with a rudder-shaped valve. The monster's roar came from inside the door.

Feng Bujue tilted his head and whispered, "Since the door is closed, it means this is an optional plot. By inference… this monster's strength won't be too weak. The system is letting us decide whether to kill it or not. If we don't kill it, we can leave from the other side of the junction. But if we risk going in to kill it, we should get corresponding rewards."

Kuang Zong Jian Ying also lowered his voice and asked, "What if this is just a Boss-level monster stronger than Jason?"

"Impossible. Jason is the strongest monster in this scenario, without a doubt." Feng Bujue hadn't known Kuang Zong Jian Ying for long, but he felt that this person was relatively upright and straightforward. There was no need to be too wary when communicating with him, so he said bluntly, "My title skill is to directly check the data of the scenario's final Boss. As soon as I entered the scenario, I took a look. The big boss of this scenario is Jason."

"Oh? There's such a skill?" Kuang Zong Jian Ying immediately became interested upon hearing this and asked, "Hey, who did you see as the Boss in that Pili scenario where we fought one-on-one?"

"Didn't look," Feng Bujue said.

"Why?"

"As soon as I finished listening to the mission prompt, you charged up with your sword. Was I supposed to just stand there like an idiot and look at the menu?"

"My fault?"

"Bullshit."

"Heh… so how are Jason's stats? Is he strong?" Kuang Zong Jian Ying asked again.

"How should I put it… in terms of combat ability alone, maybe he's not as good as those alien monsters like Aliens or Predators, but in terms of survivability, he's harder to kill than a ghost," Feng Bujue replied.

The monster data Feng Bujue saw earlier was as follows:

[Name: Jason Voorhees]

[Race: ???]

[Level: 20]

[Height: 190 cm]

[Weight: 113 kg]

[Combat Style: Melee, uses a machete as his primary weapon, but will also use other weapons or fight barehanded]

[Weakness: Listens to his mother]

[Skills: Resurrection (Even if Jason is completely destroyed on a physical level, he can reappear as long as you find some absurd reason)]

[Danger Level: Moderate]

Feng Bujue personally believed that the resurrection skill was just maliciously mocking the producers who had filmed n episodes of this series…

Roar—

The monster inside the door roared again. Because they were close this time, Feng Bujue and Kuang Zong Jian Ying also heard other sounds, like the sound of metal rubbing, fragmented but heavy and dense.

"Let's put those irrelevant things aside for now. Anyway, Jason is already on the spaceship. Under normal circumstances, we won't encounter him until we leave the scenario," Feng Bujue said. "Let's talk about the monster in front of us. Do we want to kill it?"

"Huh?" Kuang Zong Jian Ying was taken aback. "Aren't you in charge of strategizing? You're asking me?"

"Oh… is that so…" Feng Bujue muttered, "You'll kill whatever I tell you to kill, right? That makes things easier." He put the flashlight and steel knife back into his knapsack, stepped forward, and grabbed the valve on the metal door. "I'll open the door now, and you immediately rush in and start slashing. I'll cover you from behind."

"Hey…" Kuang Zong Jian Ying finally understood why Feng Bujue had asked for his opinion.

It was too late to say anything now. Feng Bujue had already turned the valve. With a forceful push, the metal door swung open. The monster in the room seemed to have noticed the situation at the door and started moving before Kuang Zong Jian Ying could rush in.

Feng Bujue took a few steps back after pushing the door open and drew his steel knife again. Kuang Zong Jian Ying was about to lunge into the doorway when he heard the eerie sound of metal scraping approaching from the darkness. Almost instinctively, Kuang Zong Jian Ying stopped and braced himself, holding his sword horizontally in front of him, facing the black shadow rushing out of the door.

Accompanied by a strange hissing sound, the monster's huge body emerged from the door. When its full appearance was revealed to Kuang Zong Jian Ying, the latter immediately abandoned the idea of using his sword to block and quickly retreated.

The monster came into the light of the corridor, and its appearance was indescribably bizarre.

Imagine unfolding a newspaper and placing a pile of metal objects of various shapes on it, such as coat hangers, screws, scissors, L-shaped water pipes, a large ball of barbed wire, etc. Then, use the newspaper to wrap these things up, and apply external pressure to squeeze out the air in the internal gaps. Then, undoubtedly, the protruding edges of the metal objects will pierce the outer layer of newspaper and stick out. What you end up with is an irregularly shaped metal mass, covered in a layer of paper full of holes.

The monster that came out of the door was something similar to this shape, except that its surface wasn't newspaper, but a layer of festering skin. This skin was thicker than a quilt, with many holes. Some moving, messy metal objects protruded from the holes. You could see bicycle handlebars, rolls of barbed wire, car parts, iron bars from security doors, and other things… mostly rusty and dilapidated junk.

It was difficult to say exactly how big the monster was, but it was about the size of a car. When it was in the room, it could turn into a bun-like shape. And in order to squeeze through the metal door, it could also turn itself into the shape of a Mexican burrito.

It used the metal objects sticking out of its skin to move on the ground, seemingly crawling like a snail, but in reality, it had countless "feet." The scraping sound that Feng Bujue and the other heard earlier was the sound it made when it moved.

The growls came from inside its "body," but even Feng Bujue found it hard to imagine what the core part of this monster was, wrapped in a layer of skin several centimeters thick and a pile of living metal…

"Is this thing a machine or a living thing…" Kuang Zong Jian Ying retreated, warily watching the unknown behemoth slowly moving towards him. It wasn't that he was frightened by the bizarre appearance, but he really didn't know how to attack.

Feng Bujue, standing a few meters behind Kuang Zong Jian Ying, replied, "Anyway, it doesn't look like a spirit body." As he spoke, he took out another weapon from his knapsack. Now he had a steel knife in one hand and a pipe wrench in the other, looking ahead. "So I have double insurance."

"How do we even start?" Kuang Zong Jian Ying tilted his head slightly, glancing at Feng Bujue's movements.

"Cut it open," Feng Bujue replied in a very calm tone.

"Easier said than done. It has so many metal 'tendrils' sticking out, and it's so big. Getting close would be very disadvantageous…" Kuang Zong Jian Ying's voice trailed off.

Feng Bujue dashed forward, wielding both weapons in a flurry of chops. The monster did counterattack, but surprisingly… it was weak. After all, the old, rusty metal wasn't a sharp weapon, and its movements weren't very fast. Even the force was mediocre. In short, the monster's attacks were basically like a normal person with normal strength swinging a bicycle at you. In real life, it could injure someone, but in the game, the players' physical qualities were different, and Feng Bujue had weapons in his hands, so blocking a little wouldn't be a big deal.

After a flurry of chops, Feng Bujue cut open the monster's "skin" on the front, revealing a pile of rusty, decaying metal emitting a damp, moldy odor. He didn't hesitate and raised his knife to hack. Using [Robots Must Die] to chop at that pile of scrap metal was like cutting a cake with a plastic knife. The monster's metal body was easily sliced open with a hideous crack.

When Kuang Zong Jian Ying saw that the giant monster was nothing special, he felt embarrassed about his cautious appearance. Without another word, he stepped forward and unleashed a "Shining Shadow Slash," launching a fierce attack with the added speed, devouring the monster's body like a humanoid shredder.

A machine oil-like liquid seeped out of the giant monster's thick "skin," splattering everywhere after being chopped up. For a time, the ground was covered in chopped meat, black oil, and rotten metal fragments…

One strange thing was that the giant monster, which had previously roared several times, remained silent under the attacks of Feng Bujue and Kuang Zong Jian Ying. Although it continued to move its metal defenses and counterattack, it didn't make any more biological roars.

In the next three minutes, the two men launched a continuous, relentless assault on the giant monster, like rats gnawing on cheese. On the giant monster's side, the counterattacks of its metal limbs, although not posing a great threat, never stopped.

Killing this monster was more tiring than expected. If a werewolf or something had rushed out of the door, it would have been simpler. Perhaps its attack ability would be five times stronger than this giant monster, but it would definitely not have been so difficult to kill.

Finally, after the two men consumed more than three hundred points of stamina, they finally saw what the core of the giant monster was. Instantly, the monster's bizarreness rose to a new level…
