Chapter 295 Cloak Scramble (31)
"This is Gotham Police! Drop your weapons, hands up!" A loud officer leaned out of the helicopter's doorway, shouting into a megaphone at Feng Bujue and Qisha.
Only five minutes had passed since they started fighting.
In fact, the troublemakers had arrived while they were still chatting.
The area around Wayne Tower was swarming with police cars, and snipers were stationed on the rooftops of surrounding buildings. Of course, since Wayne Tower was the tallest building in the vicinity, and due to the high-altitude winds and the darkness of night, the snipers were essentially useless unless Feng Bujue and Qisha came down from the rooftop.
The Gotham police had dispatched two helicopters, their searchlights sweeping across the skyscraper as if the two otherworldly visitors were King Kong. Although the police helicopters weren't equipped with heavy machine guns, each had a gunman armed with a rifle.
Many heroes from the Shenwang (God Network) had also arrived—Nightwing, Damian, Catwoman, and several others, totaling six or seven people. It wasn't possible for all the heroes to get involved, as crime still ran rampant in Gotham's streets and alleys. With police resources stretched thin, their activity was even more crucial.
"Any plans, Commissioner?" Nightwing approached Commissioner Gordon and asked directly, without any greeting.
Gordon was standing beside a police car, busily directing operations with binoculars and a walkie-talkie. Seeing Nightwing, he replied in his usual stern tone, "My people tell me Batman and the Joker are fighting up there."
"No, they're not," Nightwing said.
"I know, because my people also say that these two monsters are moving too fast to see clearly and can shatter concrete with their bare hands," Gordon replied.
"So?" Nightwing wanted him to continue.
Gordon went on, "I think we should let them finish fighting, then we'll take on whoever survives. It's easier than dealing with both of them at once."
Nightwing asked, "Are you sure one of them will die after the fight?"
Before he could finish speaking, a loud explosion echoed from the top of the skyscraper, and the crowd below gasped.
A chunk of concrete from the edge of the rooftop shattered and plummeted toward the ground.
"God!" As Gordon exclaimed, he felt a strong arm grab him and pull him away.
Seconds later, the concrete block landed, smashing directly onto the roof of the police car where Gordon had been standing. With a clang, the police car's siren and horn blared together.
As the dust settled, Gordon realized that Nightwing had pulled him away.
He adjusted his glasses and, without thanking Nightwing for saving his life, immediately roared at the others, "Someone shut off that damned siren! And check if anyone's hurt!"
Nightwing stood behind him, watching the sky. "Okay... looks like these two are serious. This fight is a matter of life and death."
...
"Amazing..." Qisha looked at his fist, then at the large chunk of shattered building edge in front of him, and couldn't help but marvel, "When I first put on the Batsuit, I just thought it was light, flexible, and had a lot of special effects. It wasn't until I actually started fighting that I realized what a legendary piece of equipment is..." He turned his head, looking at Feng Bujue, who had retreated ten meters away and was on guard. "But... Feng-xiong, what exactly are you? To fight me to a standstill under these conditions... it's just too damaging to my self-esteem."
"Yeah... I went to all this trouble just to hurt your self-esteem," Feng Bujue said sarcastically.
"Hehehe... sorry, sorry." Qisha caught the humor and replied, "I was just having too much fun and got carried away."
Feng Bujue didn't respond. He wiped a streak of blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand, spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, and calculated in his mind: *Although he's ranked outside the top ten on the combat power list, in terms of pure fighting ability, he might be stronger than Shiva. It seems he's completely focused on one specialization... besides the general specialization that inevitably improves, his only extremely high specialization is fighting. The rest are E-level or even nA. Giving this guy the Batman suit is like adding wings to a tiger, or Keroberos...*
Chirp—
Suddenly, the sound of a beam piercing the air. It was from a low-power freezing pulse gun.
Unfortunately, Qisha simply sidestepped and avoided both of Feng Bujue's shots. The freezing beams grazed the Batman armor, leaving only a few traces of frost, which Qisha brushed away with his hand.
"This kind of attack has no effect on my survival points," Qisha said. "Unless you have heavy firepower, you should put more effort into close combat."
Qisha was a straightforward person and spoke the truth. His personality was often misunderstood by his opponents, who thought he was arrogant and conceited. In reality, he was simply a single-combat enthusiast who enjoyed the process of fighting and spoke his mind directly, nothing more.
Just how strong was the Batman suit that Qisha was wearing? Before listing its specific attributes, it's necessary to mention several of the equipment's unique characteristics.
Unlike the Cold-Blooded Armor, the Batman suit wasn't a "unified" piece of equipment, but a collection of many pieces, each of which could stand alone:
First, the Batman helmet, made of impact-resistant synthetic graphite with a bulletproof fiber coating, was virtually immune to small arms fire. Qisha mentioned the electronic systems equipped in the helmet in the previous chapter, so I won't repeat them here.
Second, the Batman armor, made of Nomex fire-resistant fiber armor with carbon fiber reinforcement, was almost impervious to blades and bullets and could provide limited protection against high-intensity frontal fire. The outer shell was covered with soft leather, providing a high level of comfort while maintaining protection. The armor also had a temperature regulation system to maintain body temperature, preventing muscles from freezing during combat (whereas the Cold-Blooded Armor's similar function had negative effects).
Third, the Batman gauntlets and gloves, made of the same materials as the armor, had retractable blades on the forearms and buttons to control remote vehicles and some helmet functions. The gloves had extremely strong adhesion (far superior to Spiderman's web shooters), allowing the wearer to easily climb and move.
Fourth, the Batman greaves and boots, equipped with reinforced fire-resistant knee pads and fire-resistant boots, Kevlar Nomex groin armor, and ultrasonic bat emitters in the soles. The boots could also eject blades for skating.
Among these four pieces of equipment, the Batman armor was of Perfect quality, while the other three were of Excellent quality. When all four pieces were equipped, they were considered "unified," becoming a Legendary piece of equipment:
【Name: Batman Suit】
【Type: Armor】
【Quality: Legendary】
【Defense: Extremely High】
【Attributes: Refraction, Isolation, Cushioning】
【Effect: Inherits all functions of the four individual Batman pieces and increases the user's specialization level by one】
【Equip Condition: Male, suitable physique】
【Can be taken out of this scenario: No】
【Note: I'm Batman!】
Of course, there were also the utility belt, cape, batarangs, micro-mines, and other equipment, which were considered accessories or consumables and not part of the set.
Qisha's original fighting specialization was B-level, but after putting on the Batsuit, it became a terrifying A-level. As mentioned earlier, the game's definition of A-level specialization was: A-level, superb. There is a chance to learn skills in the system on your own, when reaching this level, the skill success rate is 100%.
And Feng Bujue had only just raised his fighting specialization to C-level during his fight with Shiva. If not for the support of Soul Intent, he would have been defeated by Qisha long ago.
"I'm trying to think of a way..." Feng Bujue's tone was still calm, and his expression didn't show any fear, just a listless, half-dead look.
However, Brother Jue's mind was running at high speed, constantly thinking of countermeasures: *Apart from Death Poker, among my current weapons... the pipe wrench and folding chair can be used as melee weapons, but they won't be very effective; unless he stands still and lets me shoot him, Moxxi's Bad Touch and the Freezing Pulse Gun are almost useless; his helmet is much more advanced than my mask, so I can't rely on the Goblin Toxic Gas Mask either...*
*Hmm... the only things that might break his defense now are the Anti-Gravity Ejector and those two Mark II grenades. I don't have a suitable opportunity to use the former yet, and the latter... how easy is it to make him stand still and get blown up?*
*The Batman suit is truly invulnerable... If the opponent were an average player, I might have a chance, but he happens to be someone with a super-strong fighting specialization...*
Feng Bujue glanced at the two helicopters in the sky and muttered, "Tch... a bunch of combat power of five, what's the point of coming without heavy machine guns?" The idea of obtaining weapons from the police on the spot had to be abandoned.
Whoosh—
A rapidly approaching batarang interrupted Feng Bujue's thoughts.
But he didn't move... didn't make any evasive action.
The batarang flew in an arc, veering outward. In the end, the wing of the batarang grazed past Feng Bujue's neck, without harming him at all.
"Oh? What does this mean?" Feng Bujue looked back to confirm. "Is it going to spin back around?"
"I was just testing if you would dodge," Qisha said.
Feng Bujue understood immediately: "Oh... I see, you deliberately threw a batarang that looked like it would hit, but actually would deviate, to test my predictive ability?"
"Exactly." A look of confusion appeared in Qisha's eyes. "Your prediction is so strong that I don't understand... is it some kind of ability to predict the future?" He paused, then immediately denied this speculation. "No, there's no way there's such an ability in either the real or virtual world." He stroked his chin and said in a deep voice, "But what is it that allows you to accurately judge various attacks and respond almost flawlessly..."
