Chapter 338: Chapter 336: The Merger of Two Scoundrels [1st Update]

"Cough, cough, cough!" Maya was startled by her grandfather’s question and began coughing.

She thought to herself, shouldn’t she and Liam be ignored? Why should she give birth for the Spencer Family? She and Liam are not properly engaged, why include her in the baby-making range?

Could it be that grandfather still hasn’t given up and is plotting to match her with Liam to establish a stable relationship?

Old Master Spencer’s question made Maya’s mind wander. It seems she should learn from Liam and not offer any help to the Spencers in the future, otherwise they might take her kindness for granted and treat her like a pushover.

Alright! She admitted that she never was a pushover, even if she signed contracts for Sister Jane Spencer, her intentions were never pure. But from now on, she wouldn’t even do those things with impure intentions.

"Feeling better?" Liam patted her back and then pinched her ear.

Maya glanced around the dining table calmly and replied, "I’m fine."

Seeing her return to normal, Liam looked up at Old Master Spencer and said, "Grandfather, regarding the kids, Maya and I are working on it."

"Cough, cough, cough!" As soon as Liam finished speaking, Maya began coughing again, thinking to herself, she knew there would be no good happenings at this dinner, but unfortunately, she couldn’t avoid it.

As Maya coughed, across the dining table, Lillian Morris furrowed her brows, wishing she could take her away from the banquet right now, but he couldn’t bring himself to do something that would disappoint everyone and put Maya in a difficult position, so he silently cared for her.

"Liam, can’t you discuss things with me before you speak or act?" After coughing, Maya turned to the person next to her, unhappy.

Liam furrowed his brows, looked at Maya’s face suspiciously, and said, "Didn’t we discuss this? I remember we did."

If he remembered correctly, when he accompanied Maya for the check-up, she agreed that once the medicine in her body was fully cleared out in half a year, they would have children, although the number wasn’t yet discussed.

Maya’s thoughts drifted to the joke they made days ago, and indeed the topic came up then.

Jane Spencer took the opportunity to glance at Lillian Morris and noticed he looked distressed. Watching the spectacle unfold, Jane smirked coldly, as if Lillian was an outsider and there had never been any emotional connection between them.

Jane was unclear on what happened between Lillian, Maya, and Liam, and didn’t dare spread rumors, especially after Liam had given her a verbal warning.

Yet she wasn’t worried; after all, Lillian had divorced for Maya, and it was only a matter of time before things blew up. Being the instigator wasn’t worth it.

For now, the entanglement between Lillian, Maya, Liam, Maya, Lillian, Jane, and Ella Turner was known only to those people, excluding Charlotte Owen and Aron Hanson.

At the head of the table, Old Master Spencer looked at Liam and Maya, fearing they might start a conflict, so he hurried to intervene: "Since you plan to have children, hurry up and arrange the wedding."

Liam nodded in agreement and said, "Yes! I’ll go back and discuss the timing with Maya."

Maya had just accused him of not consulting her, and he immediately showed submission, giving Maya plenty of face.

Actually, Liam wasn’t merely acting; he truly cared about Maya’s feelings and didn’t want her to endure more grievances, as she had already suffered a lot because of him.

"Okay, you two discuss it first." Old Master Spencer saw their good relationship and smiled broadly.

"Honey, let’s discuss it when we get back, okay?" Maya didn’t pay attention to this matter, so Liam asked insistently.

Maya knew he did it on purpose but had to cooperate, so she softly said, "Okay."

Meeting again, everyone noticed that Liam was more thoughtful and caring towards Maya than before.

During lunch, Hannah kept staring at Maya, puzzled about why Elia and Maya, both young ladies, had such different fates. What charm did Maya possess that captivated men, regardless of her circumstances or demeanor? Why didn’t Elia have such luck?

Until lunch concluded, besides seeing Liam’s attentive care for Maya and Maya’s quiet dining throughout, she didn’t notice any extraordinary qualities in her.

In the restaurant, as Christopher Scott and Hudson Moore finished their meal, they grabbed Maya and invited her for afternoon mahjong: "Sweetheart, you can’t use your brains with the Third Brother this afternoon. You two ’strong and shameless’ together, we can’t even catch our breath."

Maya furrowed her brows, half-closed her eyes, and stared at Christopher Scott, questioning: "’Strong and shameless’?"

"No, no, no! You heard wrong, it’s ’double Spencer combined’." He meant ’strong and shameless’ but changed immediately in face of Maya’s piercing glare.

Liam glanced at Christopher Scott and said leisurely, "We’re heading back to rest; grandfather has given us a task which needs quick completion."

"What task?" Christopher Scott was baffled.

"Making babies." Someone said indifferently.

"Pfft!" Christopher Scott and Hudson Moore burst into laughter, thinking this rascal wanted to sleep with someone and used grandfather as an excuse, truly wanting to erect a monument after being something questionable.

Liam’s openness made Maya roll her eyes at him fiercely, sure that Liam was 200% deliberate because Lillian was nearby, and despite the urgency, she wasn’t fit for pregnancy this past six months.

However, after the dining table incident and Liam’s recent words, Lillian was more puzzled. A few days ago, Ella Turner mentioned Maya being pregnant, but from Liam’s recent reaction, he seemed unaware, or did Maya lose the baby?

Lillian stood not far away, his heart clenched listening to Liam flaunt affection, wanting desperately to ask Maya for clarity, what exactly happened?

In the crowd, Maya gently broke free from Liam’s hand and stated calmly, "I want to play mahjong."

"Third Brother, exactly! You can have babies every day, but mahjong isn’t something we can play daily, besides, handling this in broad daylight is rather inconvenient." Christopher Scott still wanted to hustle Liam’s money, so he joined in the heckling.

"Third Brother, let Third Sister-in-law play a few rounds! It’s rare for everyone to leisurely gather like this." Hudson Moore joined in too.

"Yes! Look at sweetheart’s pitiful eyes, she doesn’t want to go with you..."

Liam’s eyes shot wide open, prompting Christopher Scott to swallow the rest of his words.

"Maya, we played mahjong for three hours this morning, your eyes need rest." Liam, now softened towards Maya, only played the emotional card despite occasionally threatening her, still took the gentle route.

"Hudson, serve the dog’s food from the set." Liam’s tenderness made Christopher Scott get goosebumps, thinking, the Third Young Master, who’s he putting on an act for!

Maya feared if she sang in opposition, Liam’s act might escalate excessively, so she complied with him: "Fine, I’ll rest first, then play mahjong later."

Seeing Maya relent, Liam tilted her chin and planted a soft peck on her lips.

"Third Brother, you have to compensate all the single individuals for the psychological damage." Christopher Scott really couldn’t bear to watch someone’s flaunting skill anymore.
