Chapter 911 - 915: Light of Life (14)

Chapter 911: Chapter 915: Light of Life (14)

The crazy old lady landlord has already made his life unbearable, and if there’s another one..... Zhu Fei feels like he might as well use a rope to hang himself.

Zhu Fei asked his roommate with concern, "Have you figured out where you’re planning to move?"

The roommate seemed nice, and perhaps they could keep in touch even after moving.

Whenever this topic came up, the roommate would get very excited.

He grinned widely, full of joy, "I’ve found a place, over in Chinatown."

Zhu Fei agreed, "Sounds indeed good. When my three-month lease is up, I plan to move there too."

Upon hearing Zhu Fei’s words, his roommate became even happier, "That’s fantastic! In that case, why don’t we rent a place together afterward?"

"The apartment I rented has two bedrooms and one living room, just perfect for us each to have our own room."

A good roommate is hard to find; obviously, this one had the same idea as Zhu Fei.

Zhu Fei hesitated a little, "But the rent for the first three months isn’t...."

The roommate waved his hand generously, "No worries, we’re brothers; don’t talk like that."

Zhu Fei also knew this roommate came from a well-off family and didn’t care about the money, so he figured he could find other ways to compensate him.

Both reached an agreement, and the roommate, who couldn’t sit still, immediately dragged Zhu Fei up, "Let’s go, I’ll take you to see the new place I rented."

"I’m wondering if my eyes are deceiving me; is this still Tata City where I live?"

Zhu Fei rubbed his eyes in surprise, "Feels like I’m still back in the homeland."

The roommate gave Zhu Fei a hearty hug and laughed, "When I came here a few days ago, I had the same expression as you, hahaha...."

"How can this not be abroad? Look, where would you see a burger joint back home? Come on, we’re hungry, let’s grab something to eat first."

Burger joints didn’t leave a good impression on Zhu Fei; last time, an old witch pointed and scolded him unpleasantly.

He was a bit resistant, muttering, "What’s so good about burgers; is stir-fried pork not tasty, or is sweet and sour ribs not fragrant?"

The roommate replied coolly, "But can you make them?"

Zhu Fei: "....." Boo hoo, he can’t.

No matter how unwilling Zhu Fei was, he was involuntarily dragged into the burger joint by his strong roommate.

Surprisingly, besides the fat, freckled blonde lady behind the counter, all the seated customers were familiar faces.

Zhu Fei could hear familiar language along with certain dialects that were partly understood.

This kind of scene made him relax his tense body and feel much better.

Being in familiar surroundings indeed helps one relax.

As soon as Zhu Fei and his roommate found a place and sat down, a short elderly woman wearing a white hat walked in from outside.

At this moment, the ordered burgers had just been placed on the table, yet to be enjoyed, only for the elderly woman to point at Zhu Fei and the roommate and speak with the server presumptuously.

Originally set down, the burgers were picked up again by the server and carried over to the elderly woman.

"Hey, those were what we ordered." The server casually nodded, "Yes, you did order them, but the old lady wants to eat first."

This made Zhu Fei very angry; his upbringing made him suppress his anger and attempt to speak calmly, "But everything should follow the order of arrival."

The server smirked and shrugged, "Then go talk to the old lady yourself."

Such an attitude was indeed infuriating.

The old lady, without fear, smugly raised her head, "Lower-class people, get out of here; this is not a place for you."

The words were not only aimed at Zhu Fei and his roommate but also at the other yellow-skinned people in the place.

"Kick them out; I don’t like sharing a space with lower-class people," the old lady shouted at the server.

This put the server in a difficult position, leaving her to pretend she hadn’t heard.

The old lady was very angry and immediately vented her frustration on Zhu Fei and his roommate, "Get out; don’t make me repeat myself, or I’ll call the police."

"Although I can’t understand what you’re babbling, I imagine it’s not something nice." While Zhu Fei was considering if it was better to avoid the trouble, a strong man stood up directly confronting the old lady, snatching the burger from her hand, "This belongs to this young brother."

This action utterly enraged the old lady, her white hat shaking nervously.

A string of foul words spewed from the old woman’s mouth, as she stood up trying to hit the man.

The previously idle server, seeing this, immediately snapped out, rude and aggressive, "No brawling, or I’ll call the police."

She seemed blind, failing to notice the nasty fingerprints already left on the man’s face by the old lady.

The man wasn’t someone to tolerate either; he abruptly knocked the hat off the old lady’s head.

He turned to Zhu Fei and said, "Young brother, help translate and tell her, in our place, only families mourning a death wear white hats."

"If she’s mourning, I could forgive her for her bitterness and unreasonable behavior."

Zhu Fei: "...."

Zhu Fei didn’t have time to react; his roommate, instead, eagerly translated the man’s words first, adding some of his own.

Sure enough, the elderly woman was not as resilient, clutching her chest while glaring fiercely with slack eyes.

"I must...."

"Must do what?" the roommate curiously asked.

In the next moment, everyone in the restaurant putting down their food and stood up abruptly.

The sound of chairs and tables clattering echoed throughout the store.

The server, stealthily reaching for the phone, was startled, placing it down again casually, retreating into the kitchen not to come out.

The pressure of being surrounded by a crowd certainly brings considerable fear, at least that’s what appeared on the previously arrogant old lady’s face.

She grabbed her little handbag, not even bothering to pick up the hat on the floor, quickly trotting out with a sense of fleeing in panic.

"Young brother, don’t be afraid; anyone daring to bully Hua Country People, I’d teach her a lesson."

The man’s crude actions, however, brought a peculiar warmth to Zhu Fei.

Being bullied abroad, having compatriots stand for you, that feeling.....

"Thank you..." Zhu Fei blinked, feeling his eyes getting moist.

After exiting the burger place, Zhu Fei and his roommate had yet to calm down from their exhilarated state when they saw that elderly woman again.
