Chapter 941: Chapter 940: Who’s the Useless One!

Ah Jiu returned smoothly to the guesthouse where Yuan Ye was waiting. Upon seeing him, Yuan Ye let out a long sigh of relief. He had heard the commotion outside and had been worried about whether the two would be able to return in time. If not, how he would respond was something that needed to be prepared in advance.

"Master, is the young lady...?" Yuan Ye looked behind him but did not see Wufu.

"She managed to extricate herself on the women’s side," Ah Jiu said with a calm face, meanwhile quickly stripping off the guards’ clothes and putting on the wine-soaked brocade garments.

Just as he managed to put them on, before he could fully button up, someone burst in.

An eerie gleam flashed across Ah Jiu’s eyes, too quick to be caught.

It was the steward of the prince’s mansion, accompanied by five or six guards, who entered the room and saw Ah Jiu in the middle of changing, frowning slightly.

"This is..."

"Sir, the clothes have been brought, it seems like something big has happened outside..." Xiao Li ran in swiftly holding a bundle, and paused for a moment, looking somewhat apprehensive and fearful upon seeing the steward and guards.

"Why are you so late? The master has been waiting for quite some time," Yuan Ye took the bundle from him and gave the steward a flattering smile.

Xiao Li said with a bitter face, "This, this mansion is too big, this servant got lost."

Yuan Ye glared at him, then looked at the steward and asked curiously, "Steward, what has happened?"

"Some petty thieves have come into the mansion. Have you all been here the entire time?" The steward glanced over the group, then nodded to the guards at his side.

Those guards left the room.

Ah Jiu and the others kept a calm demeanor, saying, "This is indeed the guesthouse for male guests to change clothes, right? We shouldn’t be in the wrong place."

The steward glanced at the damp spot on Ah Jiu’s chest, his nostrils twitching slightly, detecting a faint scent of alcohol, estimating that wine had spilled on the clothes, and to avoid rudeness, he changed his clothes.

The guard who left returned, gave a slight nod to the steward, who then visibly relaxed.

"We are pursuing some petty thieves, please do not run around to avoid accidental injury," the steward said.

"Please," Yuan Ye cupped his hands.

The steward then took his men and left the room, heading to other areas.

Ah Jiu and the others breathed a sigh of relief, changed their clothes, and went out to return to the guest seats.

As for the guard uniforms Ah Jiu had previously worn, Yuan Ye took out a bottle of something and sprinkled it over them. A cloud of blue smoke rose, and soon there was nothing left, just a small puddle of water.

Ah Jiu changed into a different set of clothes, returned to his seat, and looked around. Zhao Mingjun was no longer there. Unfortunately, it was useless for him to rush over.

Suddenly, he felt a burning gaze.

Looking up, he saw Yan Er staring at him intensely.

Ah Jiu smirked slightly, raised his cup of tea as a greeting, then slowly sipped it.

He hoped everything was going well on Wufu’s side.

Meanwhile, Zhao Mingjun was looking at his rather disordered study, his forehead veins throbbing angrily.

In broad daylight, a thief had entered his own den, even under layers of protection, ransacking it. How could he not be angry?

And now, the culprit had not yet been caught, making him even more furious.

"A bunch of useless scoundrels!" Zhao Mingjun furiously hurled an Ink Jade Brush Washer across the room.

With so many posts, all eyes on the Moon Viewing Pavilion, and yet someone still succeeded. What else could they be but useless?

Thinking of something, he walked out, took a turn around the rock garden, but due to the presence of guards, he didn’t act further, and just waved his hand: "All of you, leave."
