Chapter 115 Thorough Investigation

Jiang Feizhang was stunned for a moment, then turned to Yi Wenliu for help.

Yi Wenliu was equally bewildered. She had just received notification from her superiors and hadn't had time to carefully study the details of limb regeneration. She could only tug at Jing Mingqiu's sleeve for help.

Patting Yi Wenliu's small hand, Jing Mingqiu explained with a smile, "Although internal organs seem more important than limbs, their functions and structures are actually simpler. Since we can already reconstruct limbs, let alone other internal organs."

Hearing this, Jiang Feizhang's eyes lit up.

"Professor Jing, you mean we can directly excise diseased organs and then grow new ones! While this method might be a bit gruesome, it truly addresses the root cause. However, what about brain lesions?"

Yi Wenliu stepped forward to supplement Jing Mingqiu's explanation: "The brain is not a whole; it is segmented and can be repaired separately."

"I see," Jiang Feizhang nodded, then raised another concern, "Professor Jing, isn't it too hasty to expel all foreign capital now? Putting aside the foreign market, our patients still need to import daily medications from abroad. If they seize this opportunity to drastically increase prices, we might not be able to bear the losses in the long run!"

Jing Mingqiu was unconcerned: "It won't take long, at most a month, before this equipment can be launched on the market. The top leadership wants to prevent Western countries from stealing the manufacturing methods, which is why they asked me to convey this message."

"A month? How is that possible!" Jiang Feizhang exclaimed in alarm, "Professor Jing, you're not joking, are you? Even if you already have the finished drug, which saves the development and production stages, the subsequent animal and clinical trials still require a long time."

"Even with a fast track and special approval, it would take at least six months. Considering some side effects have incubation periods, a year of observation experiments would be best."

"I know you are very capable in other fields, Professor Jing, but medicine is different. It directly affects people's lives, and we cannot be careless!"

Jing Mingqiu scratched his head, "Why is it so troublesome? Weren't the previous few drugs I submitted released directly?"

Jiang Feizhang was sweating profusely, "We spent a lot of money and conducted numerous experiments in secret before launching those drugs. It took nearly three months in total."

"I see," Jing Mingqiu nodded. "So that's why it took so long for the country to start promoting the drugs after I submitted the manufacturing methods – they were secretly testing them. But three months is too long; isn't there any other way to reduce the experimental time?"

Jiang Feizhang's brows furrowed, "It's not that there isn't. We can conduct Phase I, II, and III clinical trials simultaneously to ensure sufficient sample data. However, that would require finding a massive number of volunteers in a short period and a huge amount of experimental funding."

"Money is not a problem," Jing Mingqiu waved his hand grandly. "The top leader has specially approved one hundred billion in experimental funds, which should be enough. If it's not, I have a little more here."

"As for people? For limb regeneration..."

Jing Mingqiu fell into thought, a group of heroic individuals flashing through his eyes.

"I do have a group of very suitable people here, but I don't know if they are willing."

"Minister Jiang, please lead us in. Let's get the equipment and agents for limb regeneration ready first."

"Alright!" Jiang Feizhang nodded vigorously and agreed.

The three entered the laboratory one after another. Jiang Feizhang was very enthusiastic, introducing the various equipment in the laboratory.

Although Yi Wenliu came from a top medical family, these high-end medical devices were the first she had ever seen. Hearing Jiang Feizhang's introduction, her eyes couldn't help but light up.

Jing Mingqiu, however, showed no interest in these advanced devices that cost tens of millions.

This wasn't because he was particularly indifferent to fame and fortune; it was mainly because he couldn't muster any interest in a collection of equipment that, with a casual scan, would reveal a long list of flaws.

After a brief tour of the laboratory, Jiang Feizhang glanced at his watch and showed an apologetic expression, "I'm sorry, I have something else to attend to, so I must excuse myself for now. I've already spoken with the lab director, Zhou Bai, and he will host you in my stead. Please let him know if you have any requirements."

Jing Mingqiu was magnanimous and waved his hand, "It's fine, you go ahead. I can handle things here myself."

After Jiang Feizhang left, Zhou Bai, who was in his early thirties but already had graying hair, approached, "Professor Jing, is there anything I can help you with?"

"Time is short, and there's no time to delay," Jing Mingqiu said without looking up. "First, help me find a hundred researchers."

Zhou Bai looked troubled, "A hundred? Isn't that too many? Most researchers currently have their own research tasks. It might not be appropriate to interrupt them directly."

"It's fine," Jing Mingqiu said dismissively, relaying the advice the top leader had given him before arriving. "Gaoyuan, Sanhe, Sanxing Fund has sent quite a few researchers to us, haven't they? Why not let them stay?"

Hearing this, Zhou Bai's expression darkened further, "Our salaries are too low, and they won't be willing to stay. Moreover, is it too dangerous to let a group of outsiders join such an important experiment?"

"Low salaries? That's easy to fix," Jing Mingqiu waved his hand. "Just increase their salaries. Give them fifty percent more than what Gaoyuan, Sanhe, and Sanxing Fund are paying them. With generous rewards, there will surely be brave men!"

Zhou Bai hesitated and then advised, "A fifty percent increase might be too much! Their salaries are already several times higher than our staff. If we increase them by another fifty percent, I'm afraid it will cause psychological imbalance!"

"That's even easier to solve," Jing Mingqiu said with a dismissive smile. "Just raise the salaries of other researchers to this level as well."

"Why should those actors in the entertainment industry get such high incomes for just a few lines? Scientists have to live frugally and be content with their lot. This is unfair!"

"I want scientists to become the highest-paid profession in this world."

Zhou Bai stammered, "If that's the case, we might not have enough money..."

"Not enough!" Jing Mingqiu's eyebrows shot up. "Where did the substantial research funds go every year? Were they all consumed by experiments, or were they swallowed by the rats in the middle!"

"Investigate! Conduct a thorough investigation! I refuse to believe that we have the capability to conduct experiments worth tens of billions, yet we can't even afford to pay our researchers a hundred thousand a month!"

Zhou Bai's face had turned completely black. He cautiously pointed upwards.

"Professor Jing, we also want to investigate, but this matter involves too many aspects, and it even involves the higher-ups. We truly don't have the capability."

"Higher-ups?" Jing Mingqiu sneered, flipping his wrist and pulling out a secret order from his mecha, slapping it onto the table. "How much higher can it go? Can it reach the heavens!"

"You don't actually think I came here today and made such a big fuss just to contend for control of a laboratory, do you?"

As Jing Mingqiu roared, countless fully armed soldiers filed out, surrounding tens of thousands of luxurious villas scattered across the country...
