Chapter 308

~Valerie’s POV~

"I had no idea the meeting was slated for today," Kai argued, still holding the phone to his ear, but I could hear everything.

"It was shifted. I called you several times before. It was switched off and then—when it came on—you refused to pick up your call. Where the fuck were you, and what the hell have you been doing for you not to—"

"I’ll be there," Kai cut in tightly, jaw clenching.

There was no goodbye, no warning. The call ended with a sharp click, his father clearly hanging up mid-rant.

Kai slowly lowered the phone from his ear. His expression had changed, brows furrowed, lips pressed in a thin, frustrated line.

He stood frozen for a beat, staring at nothing in particular before he turned to me, looking like he wanted to throw the damn phone across the room.

I gently shook my head. "He sounded pissed. Just go."

Kai looked down at his still semi-hard cock with clear irritation, as if wishing he could ignore the world and return to me instead. "I..."

"Go," I said, softer this time, resting my hand on his arm.

He exhaled sharply, and then his features softened. "I’m sorry," he murmured. "We were finally... Valerie, you were about to be mine, and I your..."

I leaned in, brushing a light kiss to his lips. "We’ll finish what we started."

He didn’t say anything for a second. Then he cupped my face, kissed me deeply and slowly, like a man anchoring himself before walking into battle.

He rested his forehead against mine, breathing in my scent.

"Wait for me?" he asked in a slightly rough voice.

"Definitely not like this," I teased, smiling through my flushed cheeks.

We both chuckled, and the tension eased just slightly.

Kai nodded. "Yeah... please freshen up, eat, and rest. I’ll be back soon."

"Understood."

Kai gave me a quick kiss on the lips again before pulling away and grabbing the boxers he’d discarded earlier. He stood tall and naked in front of me, his cock now proudly erect.

I blinked at it, stunned. "You’re... still...?"

"This is what you do to me," he said with a cocky smirk. "But for what it’s worth, I’m glad I could spend that time with you, passionately."

My face heated. "Me too."

He winked, pulled on his boxers, grabbed his phone, and gave me one last glance before heading upstairs to his room for a change, I presumed.

As soon as it clicked shut behind him, I collapsed back on the couch with a groan and a helpless smile.

My heart was racing, my thighs still trembling slightly from the intense pleasure he’d given me. Gods, what the hell was that?

Astra practically purred. "You should’ve ridden him when you had the chance. Next time, we attack in his room and claim what’s ours."

I gasped out loud, covering my face. "You’re shameless."

"You loved it."

I blushed harder, grumbling under my breath as I scooped up my underwear from the floor and padded off toward my room to clean up.

My legs still felt weak, my lips swollen from all the kissing, and my mind...? It was a total mess, but damn... what a beautiful mess.

~Titania’s POV~

I stood in the center of my room, my bare feet inside the chalk-drawn white circle glowing faintly beneath me.

The lights were off, and the only illumination came from the soft blue shimmer of the sigils on the walls and floor.

In my hand, I held Valerie’s necklace, which hummed faintly with residual magic.

My lips moved in a smooth rhythm, reciting the ancient Fae incantation passed down from my grandmother.

The language felt like silk on my tongue, as each syllable carried weight and power.

As I chanted, the air shifted slowly at first, then rose like a storm building momentum. The wind whipped around me, tossing strands of my hair into my face, as my eyes glowed a pure, haunting white.

Before me, Marianne kneeled on the floor, her head bowed, but her wide eyes were fixed on me. She wasn’t afraid, though she should’ve been.

Few ever watched me cast ancient fae magic and lived to speak of it.

After several minutes, the storm stilled. My hair floated gently back down, the magical wind dying like a final breath.

I blinked as the glow faded from my eyes and stepped out of the circle.

I approached her and handed her the necklace, which now glimmered faintly with golden threads of fae warding.

She stood carefully, taking the object with reverence, then tucked it into the velvet box she’d brought.

"Is it done?" Her soft voice was still in awe.

"You’re lucky you came to me when you did," I said coolly, brushing dust from my skirt. "I sensed someone trying to use a location spell on it. Likely a high-level seer, a witch, possibly even Valerie herself. But it’s cloaked now, woven tightly in fae magic. Even Valerie won’t find her precious necklace."

Marianne let out a breath, clearly relieved, and bowed her head. "Thank you, Princess."

"Mm." I turned to the window, watching the night outside. "Don’t forget, I’m the one helping you. I could just as easily leave you to your mess."

I felt her stiffen and smirked.

"As for your heat... I redirected it. Used it to amplify Valerie’s. So even if you don’t always wear the necklace, you’d be okay. She’ll be far too overwhelmed to focus on anything else, especially you."

"You’re a lifesaver."

"I know," I said smugly. "But don’t let that make you lazy. I still expect results, but I’ve got nothing from you. How hard can it be to dig up dirt on one girl?"

Marianne’s expression dimmed. "My father’s been trying. But we haven’t found anything. Her records are spotless, even her school grades. Always at the top of her class. She was homeschooled briefly but transitioned into private education and still excelled."

I hissed softly. "That’s just... annoying. Astraea swore she was Valerie Snow, daughter of the Southern Alpha, but without proof, I can’t move."

I sighed and then gently tapped my jaw.

"Something doesn’t add up. We need to find the crack in her story. Then I’ll gift-wrap her and send her straight to the wolves who butchered her family."

She paled slightly. "As you wish, Princess. I’ll do my best."

"You have until the end of the first semester. Failure is not an option." I turned and stepped closer. "I’m not trusting Astraea’s sloppy research, nor can I rely on that useless pair, Lucy and Avery. So..."

I reached out, hooked a finger under her chin, and lifted it until her eyes met mine. "Do well, and I’ll owe you a personal favour. A wish. But fail, and I won’t be so kind."

"I won’t fail you," she whispered.

"Good." I stepped back and let my expression turn stoic. "Dismissed."
