Chapter 237

Chapter 237: 237

Remaining in the water, Michelle lifted her hand to her face. The droplets that fell off weren’t that of water. Though they were clear, they were much thicker and stuck together much more than water. So they were bigger than water droplets.

It was a bit surprising how much the water had changed even though Michelle had added only a bit of the ground poison into the tub.

But Michelle was more impressed than surprised. Since the poison was from Mavreth, she had somehow expected it to be extreme. Still, it left a deep impression on her. Her master really was almighty.

While deep in thought, Michelle didn’t even really notice that she started getting drowsy. Her mind slowed down and her eyelids lowered. Within the next half an hour, she fell asleep.

The sound of someone clicking their tongue came from behind the closed window. But Michelle didn’t wake up.

So Alexander just made his way in.

Without much care about anything, he lifted Michelle’s body out of the tub, slinging her over his shoulder. He really wasn’t ceremonious about carrying her.

The jelly water slid off Michelle’s body like a pile of slime, plopping back into the tub.

Not caring whether Michelle would get hurt, Alexander threw her onto the bed. A set of black strings then came out of his fingers and pulled the blanket over her. "How can you just fall asleep in a poisonous bath?" he murmured, leaning against the wall.

Michelle wasn’t stupid, so she wouldn’t let herself fall asleep in the tub if she knew it wasn’t safe. So Alexander had two guesses.

Either the poison was so potent, it activated even before Michelle could get out of the tub, or she already knew it wouldn’t be dangerous to her so she relaxed.

Whichever was the case, Alexander had no way of knowing at the moment. He couldn’t see into Michelle’s head. The only thing Alexander could do if he wanted to know what really happened was to wait until Michelle woke up. Or he could just give up on it and leave. It wasn’t that important of an information.

In her sleep, Michelle wasn’t really aware of what was going on. So when she woke up and found herself in the bed, a slight frown formed on her brows. She was planning to stay in the tub overnight, but someone messed up her plans.

Looking around the room, seeing the figure leaning against the wall, her pupils shrunk. That tended to happen when she got angry while tired or half-asleep. "What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice a bit colder than usual. She didn’t like it when someone interfered with her experiments.

"Isn’t it clear?" For some reason, Alexander’s usually teasing voice fueled Michelle’s anger. But she contained it and let him continue. "I’m taking care of you!"

That single sentence snapped something within Michelle. In an instant, she summoned her soul energy, activating it into the Nonexistent Hymn. She knew she didn’t have enough power for it to kill Alexander, but it would definitely do something.

Alexander frowned a bit when he heard humming in the room. It wasn’t hard to guess that Michelle must have activated a skill.

"What are you planning?" he asked, his voice and smile still teasing and careless. Like always.

Michelle didn’t answer. She just concentrated on keeping the Nonexistent Hymn going.

The humming quickly turned into singing in the language of void. Alexander couldn’t understand it. But he could clearly hear two names appear in the song. His name and surname. Alexander Terce.

"What is this?" his smile widened. He was really getting curious about the skill.

After the skill sang Alexander’s name, it returned back to humming. And then, a mass of soul energy appeared within the room, closing in on Alexander.

His eyes shone when he saw it. He didn’t even try to resist it. He just watched. As the mass grew and grew until it swallowed him.

Then, it shrunk around him, all the soul energy crushing into his body.

Some wounds appeared on Alexander’s body, blood seeping out, but otherwise, he was completely fine. His power was too great for a skill of someone like Michelle to seriously hurt him, no matter how overpowered the skill was. The rank difference was just too great.

"That’s a good skill you have!" Alexander glanced at the wounds all over his body. He could see void lingering there. If he didn’t force it out soon, it would once again infect him with the Void Plague.

But since he didn’t want that, he sent some of his shadow essence to the wounds and pushed the void out.

Staring at Alexander, Michelle was completely spent. Her soul energy was all used up.

"You bastard..." she sighed. Then, a yawn left her mouth. Overusing one’s soul energy always led to intense tiredness.

Seeing the usually calm or fierce face suddenly showing tiredness, Alexander laughed a bit. But that drew a cold glare from the purple eyes.

Somehow, that only tempted Alexander to anger Michelle more. So, remembering the state she was in when she fell asleep in the tub, he came closer with a grin. "Why are you so angry?" He pushed his face close to Michelle’s. "Don’t tell me it’s because I saw you naked. Do you want me to take responsibility?"

Michelle’s tired purple eyes locked on that sickeningly handsome face. "Don’t think too much of yourself! It will get into your head!" Her voice was cold and steady, showing no signs of the frustration or anything else that Alexander wanted to see.

Unlike people from the world, she still had some habits from the 21st century. Being seen naked wasn’t that big of a deal. Maybe it was a bit embarrassing, but that was all.

And even the embarrassment was nearly nonexistent. Michelle was trained as an assassin. She was trained in many fields to be able to disarm her targets. One of them was seduction.

Also, as a professional assassin, she had regular check-ups. Full-body check-ups when she had to get naked in front of the doctor. That resulted in being used to nudity to some extent.

Alexander was surprised by Michelle’s nonchalance. He was expecting at least some shock. Instead, he got a straight-up cold rejection. It hurt his pride a bit.

With how unusually silent Alexander went, a smile spread across Michelle’s lips. She took it as a victory over that begrudging guy. So what if he was shameless? She was more shameless.

Seeing Michelle’s smile, Alexander regained his senses. "How harsh of you..." his smile brightened back to life. Once again he was as infuriating as always.

But Michelle was in a good mood, so she didn’t care about that smile. Also, a wicked idea appeared in her mind.

Since waking up, she was hidden under the blanket. But she needed to change her clothes. That made her wonder just how thick-skinned Alexander was.

If she wanted to, she could create a mist of black soul energy around her and change her clothes within it, but that was boring. Especially since she had once succeeded in embarrassing Alexander. She wanted to do it a second time.

Reaching into her spatial ring, she pulled out a set of clothes, letting them fall on the bed, next to the blanket she was under.

Then, completely ignoring the presence of Alexander just a few steps away from her, like he didn’t even exist, Michelle sat up on the bed. The blanket fell off her shoulders, down to her waist, revealing quite a bit of her.

Taking the set of clothes, Michelle pulled it on lazily. Still, it took just a few seconds.

After getting dressed, Michelle was face to face with Alexander. His smile was somehow frozen but otherwise as usual. Michelle’s demeanor was the same as always. The two were having a face-off. In shamelessness.

Who would turn their gaze away? Michelle who was seen naked? Or Alexander who saw her naked?

After a while, Michelle got a bit angry. She underestimated Alexander. He was able to look into her eyes without any problems.

Rolling her eyes, she decided to stop first. Taking out the bottle of poison she got from Mavreth, she returned to her research. But first, she put on her disguise mask to once again look like Michael Grayson.

When Michelle no longer paid Alexander any attention, he took his leave.

Once outside, he sat on a tree branch, leaning against the tree trunk. His expression was a bit strange. There wasn’t any embarrassment, but surprise was evident. He looked a bit like his brain was frozen. That was probably why he was able to look Michelle straight into her eyes without any problem.

In reality, his mind wasn’t frozen. It was just working so fast suddenly, that it seemed to be frozen.

Whichever was the case, the image Alexander had seen would stay in his mind for a long time.

After Alexander reappeared outside, Noctis and Unlucien looked at each other. They didn’t know what had happened in Michelle’s room, and they didn’t dare be curious.

If it made Their Lord, the Dark Lord, like that, it had to be mind-blowing. Their fragile hearts probably wouldn’t be able to handle it.
