Chapter 577 The Corpse Rises

Yu Daochen shook his head helplessly, sighing inwardly.

When did he become so sentimental? He would worry about that later.

Yu Daochen turned and walked out of the woods. He saw Dahu sitting on a rock, panting and smoking, with the corpses of wild cats scattered everywhere, looking incredibly bloody.

Dahu’s face lit up when he saw Yu Daochen emerge. He asked, "Master Yu, did you catch the mastermind?"

Yu Daochen had initially wanted to tell Dahu that the person was Su Qing, but after thinking about it, he shook his head and said, "No, I didn't catch him. Although that guy's strength wasn't great, his movement techniques were superb. I couldn't catch him."

Seeing Yu Daochen smiling, Dahu didn't press further.

However, he knew in his heart that Master Yu probably knew who the mastermind was, but why was he hiding it from him?

Could it be an old acquaintance?

Having spent so much time together, Dahu had noticed that Master Yu always had an awkward smile when he lied.

Dahu extinguished his cigarette butt and stood up. "Alright, since it's over, let's continue on our way."

Since Master Yu wasn't saying anything, Dahu didn't need to ask.

As long as he knew Master Yu wouldn't harm him, that was enough.

Just as the four of them were about to get into the car, they heard a cat's meow.

The four of them immediately tensed up, looking around to find the source of the sound.

"It's on the tree next to the car!" Yang Ergou shouted, pointing to the tree beside the car.

The three of them looked simultaneously and saw a wild cat perched on a branch, looking ready to pounce.

Yu Daochen and Dahu reacted swiftly, simultaneously drawing their weapons and charging forward.

But it was too late. The wild cat had already jumped onto the bronze coffin on the inn and let out a meow.

"This is bad!" Dahu cursed inwardly.

The cat's meow had completed the ritual. The zombie had likely woken up.

*Thump!*

There was a loud noise from the bronze coffin. Dahu and Yu Daochen exchanged a look and simultaneously grabbed the railings, leaping onto the car.

The corpse-binding ropes began to tighten. Yu Daochen and Dahu stared intently at the coffin, their nerves on edge.

*Snap!*

The corpse-binding rope suddenly snapped and flew towards them. Dahu and Yu Daochen dodged simultaneously.

The coffin lid slowly lifted, and a hand emanating black energy slowly emerged, its nails over twenty centimeters long.

When the palm touched the ink line on the coffin, a puff of white smoke rose, and a scream came from within the coffin.

However, the palm endured the intense pain and prepared to push the coffin lid open in one go.

"The ink line can't hold much longer," Yu Daochen said, and with that, he leaped onto the coffin lid, pressing down on the zombie trying to escape.

Yu Daochen held the coffin down tightly, his expression grave.

Dahu looked at Yang Ergou below the car. "Kid, hurry and get the large corpse-binding rope!"

Yang Ergou nodded and ran towards the car. Dahu also leaped onto the coffin lid.

The two of them pressed down on the coffin lid, which began to tremble violently.

Dahu grumbled, "Damn it, how can this thing be so strong!"

The zombie's strength grew, and a large gap had already been pried open in the coffin lid.

"Why isn't this brat here yet?" Dahu could no longer hold it down.

*Bang!*

The coffin lid was suddenly pushed open, sending Yu Daochen and Dahu flying backward and crashing heavily onto the ground.

The two of them got up, their faces grim as they looked at the commotion on the car.

A wisp of black energy emerged from the coffin, and the corpse stood up like a spring.

Yu Daochen carefully observed the zombie staring at them. "What level is this zombie?"

Dahu examined the zombie and said, "Its skin is dry and withered, its nails exude black energy, and its eyes are blood red. This is a Fei Jiang!"

"Fei Jiang!" Yu Daochen instinctively repeated, gripping his Kanglong mace tightly.

Below the Jiangshi was the Fei Jiang. This thing was not easy to deal with.

To be honest, this was Yu Daochen's first time dealing with a zombie. Although he knew their weaknesses, he had no practical experience, and he couldn't help but feel a little uneasy.

The zombie's withered face revealed a smile, and its voice was deep, "So fragrant!"

"Holy cow, this guy can actually smile and talk!" Yu Daochen found it somewhat unbelievable.

He thought zombies had bodies as hard as iron, so how could they smile?

Dahu was speechless. At a time like this, Master Yu still had the mood to joke.

"Zombies at the Fei Jiang level can already speak, and their movements are no different from ordinary people," Dahu explained.

*Swish!*

The zombie leaped down and lunged at the two of them. Seeing the charging zombie, Yu Daochen swung his Kanglong mace and struck forward.

*Bang!*

The zombie swung its fist and collided with the incoming Kanglong mace.

Yu Daochen's face changed, and he was forced back, crashing into the woods behind him. He cursed inwardly, "How can this thing be so strong!"

The arm gripping the Kanglong mace ached intensely.

Seeing this, Dahu took out a glass bottle from his pocket, smeared the black-red liquid inside onto his dagger, and lunged at the zombie.

Zhou Fu also swung his dagger and attacked.

The zombie looked at the attacking duo with disdain, dodged Dahu's dagger, and swung its fist.

Dahu reacted quickly, raising his arm to protect his head and taking the zombie's punch head-on.

*Bang!*

With a muffled groan, Dahu was sent flying backward, rolling several times on the ground before stopping.

Turning to Zhou Fu, seeing Dahu knocked away with a single punch, he took out two yellow talismans and shot them out.

*Bang! Bang!*

The talismans hit the zombie, kicking up dust from the ground.

Seizing the opportunity, Zhou Fu leaped up and thrust his dagger towards the zombie's forehead.

*Clang!*

The dagger felt like it had hit stone; it couldn't penetrate at all.

As the dust settled, the zombie stared at Zhou Fu, completely unharmed, and sneered, "You think these petty tricks can injure me? Truly overestimating yourself!"

Seeing this, Zhou Fu was about to retreat when the zombie grabbed him by the neck and lifted him up.

Zhou Fu struggled with all his might, but the zombie's grip was unyielding, like iron clamps.

"Damn it, eat my second dog grandpa's thunderous strike!"

Unbeknownst to them, Yang Ergou had appeared behind the zombie, swinging a wooden club thicker than his arm.

*Crack!*

The wooden club snapped into two pieces. Dahu looked dumbfounded. "This Fei Jiang's skin is too tough."

Dahu, who had managed to stand up, looked at the coffin-lifting pole made of hundred-year-old peach wood that he had used for half his life, now broken. He felt a pang of heartache.

This brat was truly a spendthrift!

The zombie tilted its head, making a cracking sound of bones colliding, and turned to look at Yang Ergou. "Kid, I'm going to suck your blood first!"

Seeing the zombie turn, Yang Ergou spat out the dog's blood he had been holding in his mouth.

The zombie felt a stinging sensation on its face, and the hand gripping Zhou Fu suddenly loosened.

At the Fei Jiang level, the effect of black dog blood was minimal, but it wasn't completely useless.

Zhou Fu knelt on the ground, gasping for breath.

The zombie glared fiercely at Yang Ergou, as if it wanted to devour him alive.

Yang Ergou forced a bitter smile, his calves trembling uncontrollably. With a wry smile, he said, "Master Zombie, I was just joking with you. Please don't be angry."
