A stone, hitting its mark precisely, struck the fox spirit in the leg. In pain, the fox spirit stopped and turned to look behind him. Yu Daohen had already raised his size forty-two shoe and kicked it into his face.
The fox spirit was sent flying, its nose bone broken.
Yu Daohen then grabbed the fox spirit by the neck and pinned it against a tree, his face grim. "I gave you a chance, and you didn't cherish it."
As Yu Daohen spoke, he tightened his grip. The fox spirit struggled to breathe, managing to force out a few words, "Please, Master Dao, spare my life."
"Too late!" As soon as he finished speaking, Yu Daohen suddenly exerted force.
*Crack!*
A bone-snapping sound was heard, and the fox spirit breathed its last.
Yu Daohen tossed it aside with a flick of his wrist, muttering, "Damn it, still dared to fart at me. Though I can't smell it."
The people in the mountain god temple watched in shock and admiration as Yu Daohen so easily dealt with the three monsters.
Yang Luanyue turned to Tang Jilin. "Uncle Tang, how do you know this young man?"
Tang Jilin looked at Yang Luanyue speechlessly. "Didn't I tell you? We just met him too."
Yu Daohen turned and walked towards the mountain god temple. Seeing everyone staring at him with wide eyes, he smiled. "My apologies, I've made a spectacle of myself."
Yang Luanyue still found it hard to believe and asked, "Young man, no, Master, are these three beasts really fox spirits?"
Yu Daohen thought for a moment and replied, "I suppose. They've just gained sentience, so they can barely be considered monsters, but they're far from true demons."
Seeing their continued looks of admiration, Yu Daohen cleared his throat and reintroduced himself. "Allow me to reintroduce myself. I am Yu Daohen, a Daoist priest."
Tang Quan, standing nearby, asked curiously, "Brother, why aren't you wearing a Daoist robe?"
Yu Daohen didn't know how to answer and could only offer a wry smile. "No Daoist priest wears robes these days."
Upon hearing this, Tang Quan asked again, "Then are you a disciple of Lam Ching-ying?"
"Lam Ching-ying?"
Yu Daohen looked bewildered. "Isn't that a character from a movie?"
Tang Quan then asked, "Are you a Maoshan Daoist priest?"
Seeing Tang Quan's incessant curiosity, Yu Daohen shook his head. "No!"
"Then Brother..." Tang Quan was about to continue his questioning when Yu Daohen interrupted him. "Perhaps I should go inside first. I'm still getting rained on."
Just as Yu Daohen was about to enter, he saw Tang Jilin and the others looking behind him in terror.
Yang Luanyue's words stumbled. "Be-behind... there are so many foxes!"
Yu Daohen turned and his expression changed drastically.
He saw dense clusters of glowing green eyes emerging from the woods, converging towards the mountain god temple.
Leading the group was a figure, their black hooded cloak pulled low, making it impossible to discern their features.
"Quick, get inside and don't come out! Grab your hunting rifles and protect yourselves!"
Yu Daohen shouted, blocking the entrance, his eyes fixed on the approaching figure.
Everyone hurried inside, grabbing their hunting rifles and becoming vigilant.
Yu Daohen watched the approaching foxes, cursing under his breath. "So, I kill the young ones, and the old ones come for revenge."
The figure stopped about five meters away from Yu Daohen. A deep, childlike voice spoke, "You extinguished three of my descendants with a single move. It would be rather inappropriate if there were no explanation."
Yu Daohen carefully observed the figure, muttering to himself.
Seeing that all these foxes obeyed him, their cultivation should be around a thousand years, or even higher.
However, it was strange. Usually, such powerful demons wouldn't interfere in such matters.
If they were killed for eating people, they could only blame their bad luck.
As long as it wasn't a large-scale slaughter of his descendants by people of their kind, he wouldn't intervene.
This was why ancient demons of a thousand years or more rarely acted.
"Explanation? What explanation do you want? They ate people, and I eliminated them. It's only natural, right and proper." Yu Daohen knew that playing the coward now was pointless.
He could just deal with this one as well.
The figure let out a cold哼. "A fine 'natural and proper.' Then killing you would also be natural and proper."
Yu Daohen's lips curled upwards, his voice equally cold. "Of course, if you think you have the ability, you're welcome to try."
The two locked eyes, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.
The figure glanced at the foxes beside them and commanded, "When I engage him, you take down those ordinary people."
The foxes nodded and cleared a space.
Yu Daohen frowned. He had originally intended to use the Kang Long Halberd to go head-to-head with this opponent, but now it seemed he would have to fight bare-handed.
The figure pulled down their hood, revealing the face of a ninety-year-old woman. Her chin, in particular, rivaled that of a witch.
No, it was even sharper than a witch's.
The old woman chuckled, her expression chilling. "Since you insist, then this old woman will test your mettle."
"Exactly what I wanted!" As soon as Yu Daohen finished speaking, he stomped his foot on the ground, conjured the Tian Gan Palm, and unleashed it.
"The last time I saw this technique was five hundred years ago."
The old woman raised her withered palm and met the attack.
*Bang!*
The two palms collided, and a wave of energy dispersed.
Yu Daohen's expression changed, and he cursed inwardly.
Damn it, this old hag might be old, but she's got quite a bit of strength.
She must have at least a thousand years of cultivation.
As Yu Daohen retracted his palm, he kicked out.
The old woman raised her hand and caught Yu Daohen's sweeping kick, her expression showing a hint of surprise. "You do have some strength, but it's not enough!"
As she spoke, the old woman clenched her withered hand into a fist and struck out.
"So fast!" Yu Daohen's expression changed drastically, and he quickly crossed his arms to block the incoming fist.
*Bang!*
With a muffled thud, Yu Daohen was forced back several meters before he could stabilize himself. He smirked.
A demon of over a thousand years indeed possessed great strength, but he wasn't far behind.
Aside from raw strength, they were roughly equal.
Rounding up, they were evenly matched, a fifty-fifty fight.
The young foxes waiting nearby attempted to sneak into the mountain god temple, but upon seeing the Kang Long Halberd at the entrance, they dared not advance.
Yu Daohen cocked his neck, his bones clicking. "A thousand-year-old great demon is nothing more than this. Come, continue!"
"Arrogant!" The old woman snorted, her body moving instantly in front of Yu Daohen, and she slapped towards his face.
Yu Daohen's palm once again condensed the Tian Gan Palm, and he struck out.
*Bang!*
The old woman's expression changed in surprise. Yu Daohen roared and suddenly exerted his strength.
The old woman was sent reeling backward. Yu Daohen pressed his advantage, conjuring the Di Kun Hand and slashing towards her neck.
Seeing the Di Kun Hand coming, the old woman chose not to meet it head-on but dodged to the side, then raised her palm to strike again.
Yu Daohen, seeing this, conjured the Tian Gan Palm with his other hand and met the attack.
