Yu DaohEn looked at Xiao Long, who was following behind him. "Did you drink that wine just now?"
Xiao Long also felt that something was wrong and nodded truthfully, "I only took a small sip."
Upon hearing this, Xu Lei was so angry that he wanted to slap him. Fortunately, Yu DaohEn stopped him. "Elder Xu, don't get agitated. He's fine, isn't he? Perhaps there was nothing in the wine, and it's fine since he only drank a small sip."
Although Yu DaohEn said this, he had a premonition of something ominous in his heart.
He hoped he was just overthinking.
The group followed the direction the village chief had indicated and arrived at a dilapidated temple at the edge of the village.
The sides and back of the dilapidated temple were flanked by slopes over six meters high, with thorny bushes growing below.
Xu Lei looked at the dilapidated temple before him and shouted to the disciples behind him, "We will rest here tonight."
The disciples nodded and entered the dilapidated temple, and Yu DaohEn followed them in.
In front of everyone, a headless Buddha statue over two meters high appeared before them.
Xu Lei frowned as he looked at the headless Buddha statue. "The Buddha statue is headless. This might be an inauspicious temple."
Yu DaohEn observed the Buddha statue carefully and asked, "Elder Xu, do you know who this Buddha statue represents?"
Xu Lei also looked closely and was a bit surprised.
The Buddha statue had wolf claws for hands. One hand held a begging bowl, and the other held a sword, draped in a kasaya.
"This Buddha statue is so strange. I've never seen anything like it," Xu Lei said, shaking his head.
Yu DaohEn nodded. He had also never seen a Buddha statue with wolf claws.
Xu Lei thought for a moment and said, "However, Buddhism has many Buddhas, divided into Mahayana and Hinayana Buddhism. I don't know much about it."
Seeing that Xu Lei was also unsure, Yu DaohEn could only drop the matter.
However, both of them were certain that there was something wrong with this temple.
By the time everyone had settled their belongings, it was completely dark.
Yu DaohEn and Xu Lei sat at the entrance, observing their surroundings.
Yu DaohEn glanced at the six-meter-high slopes on both sides. "Logically, temples should be built in spacious areas, signifying protection for the people in all directions."
Xu Lei nodded in agreement. "The construction of this temple is indeed strange. There are slopes on both sides and the back, and only this one path leads here. If we encounter any danger, we won't even have a chance to escape."
Yu DaohEn increasingly felt that this place was a trap. "I have a feeling something might happen tonight. Let's have a few more people on guard tonight."
Xu Lei nodded, and then a disciple shouted, "Uncle-Master, come and look here quickly."
Xu Lei and Yu DaohEn both stood up and walked towards the disciple.
Upon reaching the disciple, he pointed to a spot in the corner. "Uncle-Master, look, this is the mark of our Fu Sect."
Xu Lei leaned closer to the corner and his expression immediately turned serious.
Yu DaohEn noticed Xu Lei's unusual expression and asked, "What's wrong, Elder Xu?"
Xu Lei looked at the mark drawn with blood and slowly said, "This is the death mark of the Fu Sect!"
"Death mark?" Yu DaohEn was a bit confused.
The Fu Sect had many marks, each with its own purpose.
Wang Hua, who was beside them, explained, "The Fu Sect has three types of marks: one is a normal pathfinding mark, indicating they have been here; another is a danger mark, indicating they have encountered danger; and the third is the death mark drawn with blood, which means they have likely all perished."
Hearing this, Yu DaohEn was struck by lightning and could not believe what he heard.
Xu Lei, standing beside him, noticed Yu DaohEn's thoughts and tried to comfort him. "Master Yu, don't get agitated. This mark was left by the second batch of Fu Sect disciples, which means your young disciple might still be at Luoshui Slope."
Yu DaohEn nodded. At this point, he could only pin his last hope on Luoshui Slope.
Xu Lei glanced at the death mark again. "The Fu Sect rarely uses the death mark, unless..."
Yu DaohEn finished Xu Lei's sentence. "Unless they are very likely to perish entirely, they would draw this death mark."
Xu Lei nodded, and everyone immediately realized that there might be danger around them.
"Awooo!"
Just then, a wolf's howl suddenly came from outside the temple.
Yu DaohEn frowned. "Could it be that there are really wolves here?"
After the wolf's howl, Xiao Long suddenly clutched his stomach in severe pain, bending over like a shrimp.
Seeing this, Xu Lei quickly ran over and helped Xiao Long sit down.
"Uncle-Master, my stomach hurts so much. It feels like something is moving inside," Xiao Long was sweating profusely from the pain, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
"Awooo!"
Another wolf's howl came from outside the temple. Xu Lei shouted to Wang Hua beside him, "Go out and see what's happening."
Wang Hua nodded and ran out of the temple. Xu Lei slowly lifted Xiao Long's clothes, revealing his abdomen.
"What is this?!" Xu Lei stared at Xiao Long's stomach with a grim expression.
Yu DaohEn leaned closer and his brows furrowed tightly.
He saw something moving inside Xiao Long's stomach, thrashing about like a fish.
"Could this be a corpse gu?" Yu DaohEn asked, not entirely sure.
