Yu Daohan knelt on the ground, propping himself up with his hands, gasping for breath. Sweat dripped from the tip of his nose onto the ground.
The feeling of exhaustion was like a middle schooler running a hundred laps of a thousand meters during a physical education exam; he couldn't catch his breath.
Yu Daohan's eyelids began to droop. In a daze, he saw two figures running towards him.
Yu Daohan inwardly cursed, knowing that if they were enemies, he would surely die without any chance to retaliate.
The two figures arrived before him. Yu Daohan was too weak to even lift his head to see who they were.
"Master Yu, why do you perform such a grand gesture?"
A lewd voice came from one of them.
Yu Daohan smiled faintly. This guy was finally reliable for once. He closed his eyes and passed out.
Seeing this, Su Lai quickly caught the unconscious Yu Daohan.
Zhang Xiaoqiang was a bit anxious. "Old Su, quickly check what's wrong with Master Yu!"
Su Lai extended a finger and felt Yu Daohan's pulse. He let out a long sigh. "It's nothing, he just fainted from exhaustion."
"Fainted?"
Zhang Xiaoqiang mumbled the word, then suddenly realized. "Damn, Master Yu must have been drained by some female ghost!"
Su Lai shot him a glare. "This is from overexertion."
Zhang Xiaoqiang laughed heartily, feeling awkward. "So it was overexertion. I thought some female ghost had drained him dry."
"Let's take Master Yu back to the hotel first," Su Lai said, hoisting Yu Daohan onto his shoulder.
Zhang Xiaoqiang nodded. "I guess this is the only way for now."
Su Lai shifted the weight on his shoulder, curious. "Hey, Master Yu isn't that heavy. How can he have so much strength?"
Zhang Xiaoqiang shook his head, a thought suddenly striking him. He started joking, "How about we sell Master Yu to Ye Mei for 150,000 yuan right now? Since Master Yu is asleep, he won't remember anything when he wakes up tomorrow."
Su Lai looked at the lewd expression on Zhang Xiaoqiang's face and sighed. "Damn, Brother Qiang, that's a brilliant move. I admit defeat."
Su Lai knew that Zhang Xiaoqiang was just joking.
Late at night, the alley was dark. The solar-powered lights by the roadside had also gone out. The moonlight could barely illuminate the path, making it look somewhat eerie and terrifying.
The two passed through the alley and onto another street. Zhang Xiaoqiang subconsciously looked back, his brow furrowed. He looked at Su Lai beside him and lowered his voice. "Brother Su, I have a feeling someone is following us."
Su Lai nodded, his other hand already gripping the short stick at his waist. "Now that you mention it, I also feel a pair of oppressive eyes watching us from somewhere."
"Could it be something sinister?" Zhang Xiaoqiang asked, his hand already gripping the copper coin sword at his waist.
Su Lai shook his head, unsure. "Unlikely. I don't feel any Yin energy present."
Zhang Xiaoqiang nodded. "I don't feel any Yin energy either."
If there were something sinister, the two would have surely felt some Yin energy. That left only one possibility: the person was human, and even a master stronger than them.
The two exchanged glances. Zhang Xiaoqiang subconsciously glanced back again. "Brother Su, what should we do?"
Although they didn't know the other party's intentions, it was definitely not good.
Su Lai grinned. "Let's find out, shall we?"
Zhang Xiaoqiang looked puzzled. "How do we find out? Do you know where the person following us is?"
Zhang Xiaoqiang wasn't sure if anyone was following them, but his body's instincts and sixth sense told him something terrifying was trailing them.
If he alone had this feeling, it might be nothing, but since Su Lai beside him also felt this oppressive presence, it couldn't be a coincidence.
Su Lai revealed a mysterious smile. "I have a self-created method, it's especially effective."
Zhang Xiaoqiang became interested. Su Lai continued to instruct, "Do whatever I do later, and don't speak."
Although Zhang Xiaoqiang didn't understand what good method Su Lai had, he still nodded.
The two walked a few more steps. Su Lai suddenly turned around. Seeing this, Zhang Xiaoqiang also turned around.
Su Lai looked at the dark street ahead, let out a soft hum, and said sternly, "Sir, there's no need to hide. Come out."
Zhang Xiaoqiang nervously looked at the dark street ahead.
Someone with such tracking ability would at least be a master on the Heaven Ranking.
After a minute, not even a shadow emerged from the dark street ahead.
Zhang Xiaoqiang looked at Su Lai beside him. "Old Su, are you sure someone is there?"
Su Lai shook his head. "I didn't find anyone."
Zhang Xiaoqiang: ...
So, after all this time, you didn't actually find anyone following us and just wanted to try and scare them?
After another minute, seeing that there was still no movement, Su Lai scratched the back of his head. "Could it be that I sensed it wrong? Is no one following us?"
Zhang Xiaoqiang shook his head helplessly. "Forget it, let's just go back."
Su Lai nodded. As the two turned to leave, their expressions suddenly changed.
A sense of pressure attacked them from behind.
Zhang Xiaoqiang directly drew the copper coin sword at his waist, a forced smile appearing on his lips. "Old Su, you really did scare out a big fish."
