Chapter 248 Two Treasures

The Spirit Bureau, since ancient times, only possessed the authority to apprehend malevolent spirits but not to punish or utilize them. Housing so many of them in one place was inherently problematic.

Ghost Street primarily gathered the most powerful malevolent spirits, and the combined strength of the three Ghost Kings was not to be underestimated.

Biao Tao’s strategy of achieving maximum benefit with minimal cost was executed with consummate skill.

Yu Daohen, from the bottom of his heart, admired Biao Tao’s scheme.

Qin Muyu nodded and remarked indifferently, "Not entirely stupid."

Yu Daohen shot Qin Muyu a sideways glance. "Surely I'm not *that* stupid."

Qin Muyu offered no reply. He rose and headed towards the backyard. After only a few steps, he paused, turned back, and cautioned, "Biao Tao is not as simple as you think. Be on your guard when dealing with him."

Yu Daohen nodded. "Alright, I understand. Don't worry."

Qin Muyu grunted and proceeded into the backyard.

The front shop was left with only a sheepish Yu Daohen and a speechless Rui Ghost King.

The two stared at each other. Rui Ghost King was filled with regret, wishing he had died there instead if he had known it would be him.

After a moment, Yu Daohen spoke first. "Then, from now on, I'll have to trouble you, Rui Ghost King, to protect my safety."

Rui Ghost King offered an awkward smile. "You are too kind, Young Master Yu. We met through combat, after all."

"Oh, right. I'll give this to you, Young Master Yu." As Rui Ghost King spoke, he condensed a pair of ghost horns and a single arm in his palm.

Yu Daohen's eyes lit up upon seeing the two items. These were treasures condensed when evolving into a Ghost King, with each Ghost King possessing only one, be it an arm or horns.

These items were priceless, often unobtainable even with money, and exceedingly rare.

Yu Daohen looked at the two treasures on the table, his hand already reaching for them. "Rui Ghost King, such valuable items are perhaps too much for me."

Rui Ghost King observed Yu Daohen’s hand unconsciously touching the treasures and felt disdain inwardly, though he showed no outward reaction. "Each Ghost King can only possess one treasure. They are of no use to me, so please accept them."

Yu Daohen quickly pulled the two items closer. These things started at least at a million, and if the Midnight Spirit Shop were to close down one day, with these two items, he would never have to worry about his livelihood.

Looking at the two treasures before him, Yu Daohen suddenly recalled something. "I'd like to ask you a question, Rui Ghost King."

Rui Ghost King shook his head helplessly and sighed, "Ghost King. How ironic that title is now."

Yu Daohen understood Rui Ghost King's current feelings. Even the formidable Xu Feng had met his end.

"My original name is Rui Xiecheng. Young Master Yu, you can call me Master Rui from now on," Rui Ghost King said after some thought.

"Feel free to ask whatever you wish, Young Master Yu."

Yu Daohen recounted a rumor he had incidentally heard. "I heard that the treasures on a Ghost King can be attached to a person. Do you know about this, Master Rui?"

Master Rui thought for a moment and nodded. "I know of this dark art you speak of, Young Master Yu."

Upon hearing that Master Rui knew, Yu Daohen's heart rejoiced, and he quickly asked, "The legend says that a Ghost King's treasure, when attached to a person, can grant them the power of a ghost."

Master Rui nodded. "That's correct, it can indeed grant the power of a ghost, but the danger is too great; one can be corroded by the ghostly energy."

Yu Daohen frowned. "Corroded by ghostly energy?"

Master Rui nodded and began to explain in detail. "A person's body is like a Bagua; Yin and Yang are in a state of balance. If this item is fused with the body, the Yin and Yang balance within the body will be broken, leading to an excess of Yin and a deficiency of Yang. The ugliness within a person's heart will be infinitely amplified. If not controlled properly, one might even transform into a bloodthirsty monster."

"What kind of power can be gained?" Yu Daohen’s interest was piqued.

Seeing that Yu Daohen wasn't truly listening to his cautionary words, Master Rui shook his head helplessly and pointed to the single arm on the table. "For example, this arm. If fused, the arm will grow a layer of flesh tougher than steel, and the power of a swing from this arm will increase more than threefold."

Yu Daohen shook his head slightly. If it were merely an increase in the power of one arm, it would be useless against agile opponents. It would be like trying to swat a mouse with an axe.

"Then what about these horns?" Yu Daohen asked, looking at the blood-red ghost horns on the table.

Master Rui pointed to the ghost horns on his own head. "They enhance one's own abilities; strength, speed, and spells will all improve. For instance, like your Samsara Blood Tears, their power can be increased more than twofold. However, the strain is immense, as it ultimately uses one's own strength. Whatever you gain, you must compensate for."

Yu Daohen listened with growing excitement. If these things were combined with Samsara Blood Tears, the power increase would be more than just one level.

"But this is like a line of credit; whatever you use, you must pay back in full at the end of the month."

He could barely handle one set of Nine-Life Samsara Eyes. If he added these ghost horns, wouldn't he be completely drained?

Yu Daohen also noticed a significant improvement in his left eye. Previously, using Samsara Blood Tears once would leave him almost completely exhausted. However, the last time he used Samsara Blood Tears, he felt no exhaustion at all.

Could it be that his eyes had leveled up?
