Yu Daohén listened with rapt fascination, never imagining he had once been so formidable.
What were the Haotian Fist or Black List experts compared to him? It was like child's play, no different than drinking water. In this mortal realm, he could walk with his chest puffed out.
What happened next? Yu Daohén’s face was filled with curiosity. Had he ascended to the heavens and conquered the world?
What happened next?
Liu Feng gazed out the window, reminiscing about the past, a flicker of unwillingness crossing his face. After a long pause, he slowly spoke, "He died!"
Yu Daohén: ...
Nonsense. How could a human live for five hundred years? Of course, he knew he had died, but the question was *how*.
"So, how did he die? Did he die fighting gods?" Yu Daohén asked again, his curiosity piqued.
After all, those were gods, beings of eternal life in myths.
Liu Feng shook his head. "I don't remember. Perhaps. But none of that matters anymore. What's important is that he didn't fulfill his wish, and neither did we!"
Yu Daohén looked confused. "A wish?"
Liu Feng nodded. "That's right, a wish!"
"What wish?" Yu Daohén was somewhat bewildered. With Xu Feng's strength, what wish could he not fulfill, other than eternal life?
Money? Status?
Liu Feng shook his head, a smile appearing on his face. "Knowing what the wish was now wouldn't do you any good. But you must remember, if even he, with his strength, couldn't fulfill it, then in this life, it will be even more difficult."
Yu Daohén listened, utterly confused. His wish in this life was to be a slacker, and to bring glory to the Yan Huo Sect. He had no other aspirations.
Liu Feng chuckled. "If you can make it onto the Black List in two years, I'll tell you then."
Yu Daohén was speechless. "Forget it. The Black List isn't that easy to get onto. The least accomplished on the Black List only made it in their thirties. How could I, as a teenager, possibly get on it?"
Liu Feng smiled faintly and retorted, "Xu Feng was the strongest being in the mortal world at nineteen. Why can't you?"
Yu Daohén shook his head disdainfully. "He was an unprecedented, unparalleled super genius. Who could possibly surpass him?"
Liu Feng looked at Yu Daohén's expression of utter disbelief and shook his head. "That's right. Others cannot surpass him, but you can. You are him, and what he could do, you can too."
Yu Daohén looked at Liu Feng's confident demeanor, a hint of confusion in his eyes. Did this guy really believe in him that much?
"I feel like you smile a lot," Yu Daohén said.
Ever since he had known him, this person's face was always adorned with a smile, but no matter how he smiled, it couldn't hide the chilling gaze in his eyes.
"I did used to smile a lot, but ever since..."
Liu Feng stopped abruptly. "We're almost there. Let's rest for a bit. My training is very tiring. If you have any more questions, there will be plenty of time later."
Yu Daohén understood that Liu Feng didn't want to talk about it, but he wasn't in a hurry. After all, there was plenty of time later.
Yu Daohén continued to admire the scenery outside, while Liu Feng watched Yu Daohén, lost in thought.
Five hundred years ago, Xu Feng's battle with the Celestial God ended in his defeat. His physical body was destroyed, and his head was severed, still hanging in a place where no living being dared to approach. If not for Liu Feng and Qin Muyu desperately protecting Xu Feng's soul, there would be no Yu Daohén today.
The next day at two-thirty in the afternoon, Liu Feng and Yu Daohén disembarked from the train and took a bus to a village.
Yu Daohén looked at the familiar yet strange village and sighed. "How long has it been since I last returned?"
After Yu Daohén left his birth village, he followed Qin Muyu to the depths of the mountains near this village and built a small wooden cabin to live in.
This was also where Qin Muyu taught Yu Daohén his martial arts. That small wooden cabin held too many memories for Yu Daohén.
Later, having learned what he could, he went to Jiangdu and opened the Midnight Shop, thus becoming the later "Master Yu of Jiangdu."
He thought he would never return, but fate played its hand. Now, he was back to cultivate.
Liu Feng looked at the village ahead. "Did you expect us to come here?"
Yu Daohén nodded. "In Guizhou, this is the only place I'm familiar with. I never expected to return."
The two casually bought some dry rations and water and headed towards the mountains.
The wooden cabin was deep within the mountains, and the path was very difficult. Even for Yu Daohén and Liu Feng, it would take a full two days to reach their destination.
After circling a patch of forest, Yu Daohén looked at the familiar small wooden cabin and wiped the fine sweat from his forehead. "We're finally here."
Seeing no weeds at the entrance, Yu Daohén's expression changed, and he became vigilant. One hand instinctively reached for the Kang Long Mace at his waist.
He then looked at the surrounding grass and trees. After so long, it was impossible for there to be no weeds at all. Had someone been living here?
This place was too far from the village, and the path was extremely difficult. It was impossible for anyone to come here, not even those who went up the mountain to gather medicinal herbs could reach such a place.
Moreover, the lock on the door had been replaced. Who could have come here?
Liu Feng patted Yu Daohén's shoulder and took out a key from his pocket. "Here's a surprise for you."
Yu Daohén looked at Liu Feng, who was smiling beside him, and understood what was happening. It seemed he had been here before.
However, Yu Daohén was also curious how Liu Feng knew about this place. Only he and Qin Muyu knew about this small wooden cabin; no one else could possibly know this location.
