Chapter 367: Chapter 367 Xiao Xiao Saves the Day

Huannan University, English Class 3 classroom.

By the window, Xiao Xiao was sitting, flipping through a book.

All around her, classmates showed expressions of shock, murmuring among themselves: “Did you hear? Something happened to Du Wenqi’s family!”

“I saw it on the news. Mr. Du, Du Wenqi’s dad, and the Du family’s butler were killed. Worse, the Du family business was sold to the Easterners.”

“And now Du Wenqi is missing too.”

“Missing? He must have been captured by enemies, probably already killed.”

“The Du family is too tragic, and Du Wenqi is so pitiful.”

“Yeah, yeah…”

The Du family’s bloodshed has stirred public opinion, becoming the most talked-about topic even at Huannan University, where Du Wenqi studied.

Sitting by the window, Xiao Xiao heard her classmates discussing the Du family’s tragedy. Her brows furrowed slightly as she pondered: Could it be that Du Wenqi was really captured by enemies?

Although she was only classmates with Du Wenqi, it was well known at Huannan University that Du Wenqi liked her.

Thus, hearing about the trouble with Du Wenqi’s family, she still felt a slight concern.

At this moment, a middle-aged teacher wearing glasses walked into the classroom, followed by two police officers.

Seeing the police, all the students stopped talking and looked at the middle-aged teacher and the two police officers.

The appearance of the police made the students sense it might be related to Du Wenqi.

“Officers, this is the classroom where Du Wenqi studies,” the middle-aged teacher adjusted his glasses and said to the two police officers.

The two police officers nodded.

Immediately, the two officers scanned every student in the classroom.

One officer said to all the students, “Students, if any of you see Du Wenqi, inform us immediately. We need to find Du Wenqi quickly to clear the wrong done to the Du family.”

The students replied eagerly, “Officer, if we see Du Wenqi, we’ll definitely inform you.”

“Okay, thank you, students,” the officer said, then took out a business card and handed it to the teacher. “If there’s news of Du Wenqi, call me immediately.”

“Don’t worry, officer. If we find Du Wenqi, we’ll call you at once,” the teacher promised seriously.

The officer nodded, “We’ll search other areas of the school first to see if Du Wenqi has come to the campus.”

Then, the two officers and the teacher left.

Soon, the classroom was filled with lively chatter again.

Xiao Xiao continued reading her book.

Suddenly, Xiao Xiao’s phone chimed with a message.

Xiao Xiao opened her phone; it was a message from an unknown number: Xiao Xiao, it’s Du Wenqi. Come save me quickly. I’m hiding in the trunk of your car at the parking lot. Don’t tell anyone.

Xiao Xiao’s beautiful eyes widened in surprise. She looked around and noticed no one had realized she was reading a message.

She thought about the two police officers who just left—should she tell them about Du Wenqi?

But the message from Du Wenqi instructed her to tell no one.

So, Xiao Xiao decided not to go to the police.

Being Du Wenqi’s classmate and feeling quite sympathetic about the tragedy that had befallen his family, Xiao Xiao decided to check the parking lot.

Xiao Xiao got up, left the classroom, and headed to the school’s parking lot.

The Huannan University parking lot was on the basement level one. Since it was not yet dismissal time, there were no students around. Under the glaring white lights, the silent parking lot was filled with cars.

Xiao Xiao approached her white Audi, looked around, and saw no one. She took out her car key, her heart racing slightly, about to walk toward the car’s trunk. Just then, she saw from the car window’s reflection two vague figures behind her.

Frightened, she turned with a scream: “Ah!~~”

“Miss, are you okay?” At some point, two police officers had appeared behind her.

Xiao Xiao recognized them as the two officers she had seen earlier in the classroom.

Her face pale, she finally relaxed a bit and said to the two officers, “Officers, why are you here? You scared me.”

Both officers smiled, and one said, “We’re looking for Du Wenqi. Have you seen him?”

Xiao Xiao was about to tell them that Du Wenqi was in her trunk when she noticed a strange glint in the officers’ eyes.

Remembering the message from Du Wenqi, Xiao Xiao said to the officers, “I’ve not seen him, officers; I’ll be on my way now.”

She observed a noticeable hint of disappointment and anger in the officers’ eyes after she spoke.

Xiao Xiao unlocked her car, got in, then drove her Audi out of the underground parking lot.

Shortly after Xiao Ling’s car left, one officer expressed confusion, “We clearly saw Du Wenqi enter the parking lot. How could he be gone?”

The other officer noted, “Even stranger, why did this girl suddenly turn up in the parking lot when school’s not out yet?”

The two officers exchanged glances, their faces showing growing suspicion.

Both spoke aloud simultaneously: “Could Du Wenqi be in that girl’s car!”

Just then, one officer’s phone rang. He quickly answered, “Young master!”

“Have you caught Du Wenqi?” came a cold voice from the phone.

“Young master, I’m sorry, we failed in our duties. Du Wenqi escaped…” the officer responded, nervous.

“You two can’t even capture one Du Wenqi. Useless! If you don’t bring him back today, I won’t spare you,” the voice warned.

“Yes, young master,” the officer quickly replied.

At the Xiao family estate.

Xiao Xiao drove her car into the estate, stopping at a courtyard by a pavilion.

She got out and immediately went to the car’s trunk, taking out her key to open it.

Upon opening the trunk, she was stunned to see Du Wenqi curled up inside.

After getting out of the trunk, Du Wenqi looked gratefully at Xiao Xiao and said, “Xiao Xiao, thank you for saving me.”

Thinking it wasn’t safe for Du Wenqi to be exposed there, Xiao Xiao suggested, “Let’s talk inside the pavilion.”

Then, she led Du Wenqi into the pavilion.

Inside the pavilion, after both were seated, Xiao Xiao asked, “Du Wenqi, why were you hiding in my car trunk?”

With a face full of resentment, Du Wenqi replied, “Those two officers were fakes, sent by the damned Easterners to kill me.”

“Fake officers? Who are these Easterners?” Xiao Xiao asked, surprised.

Du Wenqi explained, “The one who killed my grandfather and father was an Easterner. I witnessed him kill both my grandfather and father with my own eyes.

If I hadn’t gone out to a party that night and returned late, I would’ve been killed by that Easterner too.”

Then, Du Wenqi said to Xiao Xiao, “Help me find Lin Fei. Only he can save me, and I can give him lots and lots of gold.”

Surprised, Xiao Xiao asked, “Find Lin Fei and give him gold?”

Du Wenqi nodded, “That’s right. In all of Huadu, if anyone can save me and has martial skills better than that damn Easterner, it would be Lin Fei.”
