Chapter 413: Chapter 411: Gu Qinyue’s Identity
Hmm? Your idol is Night Emperor?
Qin Hao was initially stunned when he heard this, then nodded deeply and said seriously, "Hmm, impressive! Your idol is indeed the most formidable assassin in the world, without a doubt."
"Of course, I still need to correct you on one small mistake."
Butterfly was intrigued by his seriousness and immediately asked, "What is it?"
"This Night Emperor, huh? I have some understanding of him. Actually, compared to his charming looks, his prowess is just a trivial aspect. You must understand, Night Emperor is someone who can rely on his charm to roam the world." Qin Hao said sincerely.
Butterfly disagreed and said, "You’re fooling me! Night Emperor isn’t some pretty boy who relies on his looks! He may not be handsome, but he definitely has exceptional charisma!"
As she spoke, she portrayed a starstruck expression.
Qin Hao shrugged, then opened the window and casually tossed Butterfly out.
Dammit!
Daring to say I’m not handsome, it’s simply intolerable!
Having dealt with Butterfly, Qin Hao yawned out of boredom and then lay down on the bed.
The weather in midsummer changes quickly; in no time, the moon in the sky seemed blurred with fringes, followed by dense clouds, fierce winds, and rumbling thunder.
Boom———!!
Qin Hao had just begun to feel sleepy when a sudden thunderbolt exploded outside the window, the dazzling flash illuminating the room starkly white. Then, the deafening thunder echoed through half the sky.
Qin Hao’s sleepiness was instantly shattered by the thunder. He got up and closed the window, as raindrops the size of soybeans began to splash against the glass.
Soon, the transparent window was covered in streaming water as a sudden thunderstorm descended on the Provincial Government area.
Qin Hao had just listened to the rain for a while when his bedroom door creaked open.
Gu Qinyue, holding a small rabbit in her arms, cautiously peeked in.
Qin Hao sat up just as another bolt of lightning flashed, the room was briefly illuminated again, and Gu Qinyue was startled into leaping onto Qin Hao’s bed and burying her head in his chest, "Mr. Qin Hao, I’m scared!"
Qin Hao quickly embraced her tightly and said, "What’s there to be afraid of? It’s just thunder, don’t be scared."
Gu Qinyue trembled slightly, still held tightly in Qin Hao’s arms.
As Qin Hao hugged her closer, he realized that Gu Qinyue’s body was icy cold, lacking any warmth characteristic of a normal person.
Immediately, Qin Hao grabbed Gu Qinyue’s wrist to check her pulse. Her pulse was strong and healthy, not just normal, but far from what one would expect from a frail girl with a body so cold.
However, Qin Hao had encountered such a strange phenomenon once before, and so he asked Gu Qinyue, "Qinyue, do you feel discomfort anywhere in your body?"
Gu Qinyue clung to his chest, shook her head, and replied in a muffled voice, "No, I’m just afraid of thunder."
"Are you cold? Your body feels so icy," Qin Hao said with a frown.
Gu Qinyue lifted her head, looked at Qin Hao and said, "Not at all. It’s just that every time it thunders, I become like this. I don’t know why."
Qin Hao naturally knew Gu Qinyue’s identity was special, and he couldn’t explain these strange phenomena either, so he just hugged her and said, "No worries, you can sleep with me tonight."
"Okay, sure!"
Gu Qinyue nodded obediently, then continued to hold Qin Hao tightly, burying her head in his chest.
Breathing in the scent coming from Qin Hao, Gu Qinyue felt an inexplicable sense of peace and security. Qin Hao’s body had a very pleasant scent, like sunlight, bringing an indescribable comfort.
Gu Qinyue felt the same as she lay in Qin Hao’s embrace, simply burying her head in his chest, her cheeks slightly flushed.
But suddenly, Gu Qinyue seemed to recall something and said, "Mr. Qin Hao, I think I can control a bit of the power inside me now."
Qin Hao paused as he watched Gu Qinyue lift her head to look at him, extending her hand where an ancient character was glowing faintly, blinking on and off like breathing.
With the appearance of this character, Gu Qinyue’s aura changed slightly, conveying a sense of transcendence from her. She demonstrated briefly, then retracted the character.
Qin Hao naturally recognized the ancient character was the word "Witch" in the ancient script.
"See, just like this. Also, it feels like my mind contains new things, some really important things, but all those memories are fragmented and blurry. Whenever I try to piece them together, I find I can’t remember them clearly."
Gu Qinyue spoke, looking somewhat distressed.
All of this indicated that there was a stunning secret hidden within Gu Qinyue.
However, everything now remained elusive and unclear. Gu Qinyue’s identity was becoming increasingly mysterious.
Qin Hao sighed gently; everything was a mystery. He didn’t understand and could only hold Gu Qinyue’s fragile body tightly in his arms, saying, "Alright, stop overthinking. These matters will eventually become clear when the time is right; thinking about them now won’t help."
"But don’t worry, no matter what lies behind you, your brother will always stand in front of you to shield you from anyone trying to harm you, no matter who they are."
"Sleep tight, good night."
Gu Qinyue nodded again with a smile, then drifted off to sleep peacefully in Qin Hao’s embrace.
Outside, the torrential rain poured down through the entire night.
Qin Hao drove the car he had casually bought recently, arriving at the company on time.
He arrived early, before the first punch-in, but Lin Yuhan was already in the office.
Qin Hao placed the warm soy milk and breakfast on her desk, playfully saying, "Hey, President Lin, while work is important, there’s no need to be this hard on yourself."
