Chapter 163: "If I were you, I’d move from there."

.

It might have seemed obvious, but the reality was far from it.

The First Human Emperor had lived tens of thousands of years ago, and very little was known about that era, only the most important events, like the Great Calamity, the subsequent unification of the three empires, and similar events, had been recorded in historical texts.

Even then, much of that knowledge had been lost over time.

That said, the names of beings like him remained, and the search for his remains or any information about him never truly stopped.

Countless people assumed that, given the level of power he had reached, he had likely ascended to the heavens at some point in the past, and almost everyone was certain of that,

but no one had ever been able to verify whether he had actually left behind a legacy.

Some texts, cultivation techniques, and other materials had survived through the ages and contributed greatly to today’s cultivation society. But compared to a true legacy, they were mere crumbs.

For this reason, many spent decades searching for his legacy, especially since many rumors suggested he had hidden it somewhere before ascending.

They were just rumors, and nothing could confirm them, but considering the being in question, many believed them and spent a good portion of their lives searching for it.

Many artifacts were found along the way, but nothing that could truly be called a legacy.

Now, in this secret realm, buried in one random mountain among many others in the area, had they actually come across that legendary legacy?

Needless to say, this drove a lot of people crazy, filling their hearts with excitement.

Only one person remained relatively calm amidst all this, the cloaked man with the great sword, who stared at the figure in front of him with a strange glint in his eyes.

" You said you’re a guide to this place, I assume that means the legacy here requires us to meet certain conditions, correct?" he asked calmly.

Xian Hongyi, or at least a fragment of him left behind, looked toward the man who had spoken and, smiling, said:

"Hahaha, I see you like getting straight to the point. Very well then.

To answer your question, yes, my task here is to guide you. And, as you said, the legacy my original self left here does indeed require that you fulfill certain requirements.

Think of it as a test to see whether you’re worthy of obtaining it or not," he said in a calm, normal tone.

As soon as everyone heard his words, they regained their composure and paid full attention to what he said

It was no surprise that a secret realm required certain conditions to obtain what lay within, that was normal, and everyone was prepared to face such challenges.

That said, it was also true that one didn’t necessarily have to follow the secret realm’s will to obtain what was inside.

A tall man, nearly two meters tall and heavily built with a shaved head, looked annoyed, and it didn’t go unnoticed by anyone.

From his expression, it was clear he didn’t agree with the spirit of the realm’s words. Noticing this, the spirit turned directly to him:

"You don’t seem satisfied with something. Care to tell me what it is?" he asked in his usual tone, which had never revealed any other emotion from the start.

"You may only be a fragment of the Human Emperor, but the fact is, you’re just a fragment. What stops me from ignoring these requirements and simply breaking through that gate to claim the legacy?

For a place that only accepts beings up to a certain stage, how hard could it really be to bypass whatever restrictions the realm has?" the man said dismissively, clearly not taking the matter seriously.

He was one of the few present who radiated the aura of a fifth stage cultivator, a presence already on its way to reaching the peak of the fifth stage.

Undoubtedly, he was one of the strongest there, and so he didn’t care about anyone else present.

"Oh? And what makes you think your strength is enough to do that? I don’t mean to offend, but a mere fifth stage cultivator can do very little against the defenses of this place.

I strongly advise against any reckless action, it could cost you dearly." said the guardian spirit, looking at the tall man before addressing the others.

Hearing this, the tall man just snorted and said nothing as he stepped forward.

Everyone stepped aside to let him pass, and soon he found himself in front of the massive golden doors of the palace.

The man, a fifth stage body cultivator, expert in hand to hand combat, released his cultivation, which soon reached the power of a fifth stage, and lifted a fist where brown elemental energy had condensed.

He pulled his fist back and, concentrating all his strength into it, hurled it forward.

DONG!

A loud metallic sound echoed across the mountain and throughout the surrounding area, forcing many nearby to cover their ears as blood seemed to rush to them.

Some of them intervened to limit the effect of the shockwave, but it didn’t matter to the guardian spirit or the tall man, they seemed completely unaffected.

The latter’s expression shifted from stern to serious as he watched the gate ahead, which hadn’t moved even an inch.

In fact, the gate showed no deformation or any sign of being struck by such a powerful attack.

He frowned, wondering if something went wrong, but just then the guardian spirit’s voice sounded again:

"If I were you, I’d quickly move aside from there," he said.

The tall man didn’t, seemingly ignoring the warning.

Angered, he was about to strike again, but at that moment the palace doors glowed faintly, releasing a strong surge of energy concentrated at the point where the man’s attack had landed.

He had no time to react, and the next moment a sharp pain shot through his body.

Weak and trembling, he collapsed to the ground.

Those who had been confused and stunned by the shockwave finally regained their senses and looked ahead to see what had happened.

They expected to see at least some damage to the massive golden doors, but there was none. Instead, to their horror, all they saw was the tall man kneeling on the ground, trembling.

What shocked them wasn’t the man’s condition, but that the arm he had used to throw the punch was now missing.
