Chapter 574: Chapter 180: I’m Richer Than You

Hmm, I’m used to it.

The only thing she wanted to resist was the demand to get her phone back so she could contact Chen Yan.

However, this act of defiance was misinterpreted by her father, who thought she was resisting the plan to go abroad.

So, under forced suppression, she was confined at home.

Lu Sisi was anxious, but soon didn’t bother resisting.

Whatever, she thought, they couldn’t keep her confined forever—after a few days, once her father completed the procedures for studying abroad, he would have to let her out.

By then, she would be able to contact Chen Yan.

Lu Sisi sat by the bed looking out the window—from the 20th floor, she could see the scattered lights of the buildings in the distance.

If the family didn’t live on the 20th floor but a lower one, Lu Sisi would have already planned to climb out the window and escape.

After Chen Yan gave her that pill, her physical condition had improved greatly.

Lu Sisi, who had endured hardships before turning eighteen, was not impulsive by nature.

She had plenty of patience when dealing with matters.

Counting the days, it had been two more days since her father locked her in—he said he would arrange for her to attend a language school, to learn the language before going abroad.

The current confinement seemed more like a punishment for her.

Well... whatever!

·

At ten o’clock in the evening, Lu Sisi was leaning against the headboard flipping through a novel—all digital devices in the room had been taken away, no phone, no PAD, no computer.

The room wasn’t very big—in this luxury flat, her room was the smallest bedroom.

And it was the bedroom furthest away from her parents’ master bedroom.

The novel in her hands had been stuck on page 52 for almost half an hour, and Lu Sisi hadn’t actually read a word.

At this moment, Lu Sisi looked up at the door—that was the sound of the door handle being turned.

When the door opened, her father stood at the entrance, looking at Lu Sisi with a complicated expression, a hint of gloom and suppressed anger in his demeanor: "Come out for a moment."

"Hmm?" Lu Sisi sat by the bed without moving, just looked at her father with calm eyes.

"Someone’s here to see you, says they’re your... friend." Her father’s tone was somewhat indifferent.

Lu Sisi felt a twinge in her heart, put down her book, and stood up.

Following her father out of the room into the living room, she saw the tall, familiar figure standing in front of the sofa, smiling at her with gleaming white teeth.

The girl’s eyes suddenly reddened; she took a deep breath and quickly stepped forward, then hugged Chen Yan tightly, wrapping her arms around his waist, her face pressed against his chest.

"Sorry, I ran into some trouble outside and came back late, only now I’m here to see you."

Chen Yan said softly, gently hugging his girlfriend, his hand gently stroking Lu Sisi’s hair.

Comforting words fell on her ears, but Lu Sisi’s eyes became even redder, tears welled up, flowing down her cheeks and dampening Chen Yan’s clothes.

Lu Sisi’s father, Yang Jiaming, frowned as he watched this young man holding his daughter, his expression displeased, and he coughed lightly.

Chen Yan looked up and gave a small smile to Yang Jiaming: "Mr. Yang, see, like I said coming in, I am indeed Lu Sisi’s boyfriend."

Yang Jiaming said coldly, "Sisi! What are you doing, stand here properly."

Lu Sisi didn’t respond, nor did she move.

Chen Yan maintained a friendly smile: "It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, young couples after a long separation, emotions are bound to be a bit uncontrollable, Mr. Yang should understand."

Each mention of "Mr. Yang" made Yang Jiaming’s face untenably flustered.

If this really was his daughter’s boyfriend, the young man before him showed no respectful attitude you’d expect from a future son-in-law meeting his in-laws for the first time.

No calls of uncle or in-law, just "Mr. Yang"?

Still, Chen Yan patted Lu Sisi, leading her to sit on the sofa—right next to him.

"Alright, I know everything now, I’m taking you away today." Chen Yan did not avoid Yang Jiaming’s presence, warmly comforting Lu Sisi.

Upon hearing this, Yang Jiaming frowned: "What do you mean by that? You want to take my daughter away, did you ask for my consent?"

Chen Yan didn’t respond, instead quietly looking at Lu Sisi. Seeing a trace of determination in her eyes, he then nodded slightly, covering her small hand with his, gently patting the back of her hand.

Only then did Chen Yan turn his head to look at Yang Jiaming.

"Mr. Yang, let’s not be evasive with our words, let’s speak frankly, shall we?" Chen Yan’s tone carried a hint of sarcasm that only further irked Yang Jiaming: "After all, in this family, no one cares about Lu Sisi, no one loves her. In this home, she is despised, resented, you all wish she would go far away, the farther the better.

So me taking her away just aligns with your wishes, doesn’t it?"

Yang Jiaming’s face stiffened.

Though this young man hit the mark, to tear the veil so straightforwardly still made Yang Jiaming indignant and ashamed: "What nonsense are you talking about! Lu Sisi is my daughter! Our family naturally has concern and plans for her!"

"Hmm, she was bullied outside, falsely accused, detained and fined. As her father, you didn’t protect her, didn’t seek justice for her? Such great concern!" Chen Yan sneered: "Mr. Yang, your family business isn’t small, you’re not some powerless grassroots, right? Your daughter runs into such things and you don’t even say a word? Or is the other party’s power so overwhelming that you have no means to protect your daughter?"
