Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Meeting As Business Partner
Two days have passed, and Victoria finally got to meet the man she loves so much today. Although the atmosphere was bound to be awkward since they hadn’t seen each other for a week, the most important thing was that she could at least see the handsome face of her beloved man in person. Today, Victoria chose her favorite work outfit, one of Matthias’ gifts.
Even before leaving for work, she applied her makeup in Matthias’s favorite style, as usual. She missed him so much, always complimenting her beauty whenever she did her makeup. Now, she could only wait until the afternoon to meet Matthias, her business partner.
Time flew by so quickly. Her wish was immediately granted. As soon as she set foot on the project site, the handsome CEO arrived first, his captivating appearance making her heart race.
Even though she finally met the man of her dreams, she still wanted to act professionally. She slowly and gracefully walked towards the handsome CEO, carrying a sling bag.
"Victoria, you’re finally here. I’ve been waiting for you."
Victoria responded with a sweet smile. "I didn’t expect you to get here first. I really didn’t want to keep you waiting too long."
"How about we take a look around first? It’s been a while since you’ve been here. Perhaps you’ll have given some input on the interior design of some areas."
What they did while at the project site was indeed discussing work-related matters. While it wasn’t about personal matters, Victoria was quite satisfied to be able to talk with the man she’d missed. Whether Matthias had deliberately kept her there or not, as it was unusual for her to be at a project site for such a long time, she did notice his slightly gloomy expression. Has Matthias been having problems lately?
"How have you been lately?" Matthias asked in a slightly awkward tone.
Victoria smiled shyly as she looked at her business partner with a twinkle in her eye. "I’ve been with Ansel and Jennifer all this time. Don’t worry, you don’t have to worry too much about me."
"Thank goodness. I heard from my grandfather. Now you accompany him more often at lunch."
Victoria really wanted to hold Matthias’ hand now. She couldn’t hold back the longing she’d been suppressing for so long.
"Matthias, I’ve actually missed you all this time."
Matthias’s eyes widened as he stared at the woman he loved, who looked thinner than before. "Have you been eating a lot lately? Have you been able to sleep?"
Victoria laughed softly at her beloved man’s increasingly overreacting behavior. She’d truly missed Matthias’s protective attitude. Just because she said she missed him, he was already so worried.
"Since I’m no longer pregnant, my food portions have returned to normal. I can sleep, even though I sometimes have to work late at night at home."
"You should get enough rest! Don’t push yourself!"
Just hearing those words made her heart race. If only she were still Matthias’s wife, she would have embraced his muscular body. All she could do now was act professionally as a business partner.
"Matthias, thank you for caring about me."
"Even though you’re not my wife anymore, I still care about you as a business partner." Matthias looked away embarrassedly. "By the way, are you busy after this?"
Victoria shook her head nervously. "No. What’s wrong?"
"I want to invite you to lunch together. Would you like to?"
"Don’t you want to have lunch with your fiancé?"
"I would like to eat with you sometime."
A sweet smile graced her beautiful face. "I want to eat with you, Matthias. I don’t like eating alone today."
It had been a long time since they had eaten together. Finally, Victoria and Matthias could look at each other while eating. Matthias missed Victoria’s flirtatious demeanor during meals. Victoria, however, was keeping her attitude overly professional, making him feel a little awkward. He felt the current situation was reminiscent of when they were first dating.
Victoria spontaneously gave a piece of karaage chicken to her business partner. It had become her habit to always share food with the man she loved.
"Matthias, you should eat karaage too."
Matthias’s heart blossomed seeing the attitude of his beloved woman who was very attentive to him. "Thank you, Victoria."
"By the way, since we parted ways, I’ve had lunch with Ansel or Grandpa. But don’t worry, I never share my food with Ansel."
"I’m grateful. "
Victoria laughed awkwardly while enjoying the chicken karaage. "But, is it true that you kissed Amber while eating at a restaurant?"
"I kissed?"
Victoria immediately covered her mouth with her hand. How stupid she was to ask such a ridiculous question during her business lunch.
Meanwhile, Matthias laughed softly, staring at the beautiful woman before him with sparkling eyes. "I never kissed her while we were apart."
"Then, the photo I saw at that time was just an edit?"
"Victoria, are you not willing to see me marry Amber?"
"What if I say yes? Will you do what I want?"
"Actually, I’m more curious about who sent you the photo of me having lunch with Amber and you said I kissed her. I think I know when that was."
Victoria shrugged. "I actually don’t know how that anonymous person got my phone number and sent me that photo. Especially since they threatened me that I wouldn’t be allowed to come near you again."
"Then, can you send it to me?"
"But, why are you so obsessed with that anonymous person? I’m the one being threatened."
"Even though you were the one threatened, you were the victim. I can’t let anyone threaten you."
"Even though I can solve my problems in my own way."
"How did you do it?" Matthias rolled his eyes. "If Amber did it, I won’t forgive her."
"Even though she will soon be your wife?"
"I don’t care if she’s my wife or not. But what she did was clearly wrong. I don’t want to be the husband of a criminal." Unconsciously, his right hand stroked Victoria’s head. "Thank you for telling me this."
