Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Should I Sign Divorce Paper? Part II

Victoria couldn’t hold the divorce papers, her hands trembling. She’d thought Matthias needed more time to think things over. However, Matthias seemed determined to divorce her. If he truly didn’t care about her, then she would be forced to sign these divorce papers.

Now, there was only a single sheet of paper, a stamp, and a pen from her husband’s collection on the living room table. She was already trembling in her grip on the pen, preparing to sign the divorce papers.

"Why don’t you think about it a little longer?"

Hearing her husband’s voice break the silence of the living room, Victoria spontaneously turned to face him, who was freshly showered and dressed in his pajamas. She swallowed nervously as she roughly placed the paper and pen on the table.

"What’s there to think about? You’ve already signed the divorce papers, so it’s safe to assume I should sign them quickly."

Matthias immediately took the divorce papers. "Do you know that this letter means our relationship will truly end?"

"Then what about you? Why did you sign the divorce papers so quickly?"

"I told you yesterday. I’m not worthy to be your husband. That’s why I signed this letter."

Victoria laughed sarcastically, placing her hands on her hips. "Then I’ve decided to sign this letter too. I’m so sick of being trapped in this marriage I don’t want."

Matthias’s expression darkened at his wife’s sarcastic remark. He touched her shoulders with both hands. "Didn’t you want to marry me from the start?"

"Yes, I really don’t want to marry you. Because you’re so annoying."

Matthias felt increasingly reluctant to hurt his wife’s feelings. If he had asked for a divorce from the start, his wife wouldn’t have treated him so coldly.

"Anyway, once I sign the divorce papers, you have no right to come looking for me anymore. I want to be out of your life. Isn’t that what you really want?"

"Victoria, actually I–"

"I don’t want to hear any more excuses from you. If you really want a divorce, then I want a divorce too. I’m so sick of seeing you create a marriage game all this time." Actually, deep down, Victoria didn’t want a divorce, she knew her husband still loved her until now, but she had to do it so that her husband wouldn’t get hurt too.

"Do you really think our marriage is just a game? Everything we’ve been doing is just coercion?"

Victoria lowered her head and hugged her husband tightly. If she continued to bottle up her anger, she wouldn’t be able to live in peace from tomorrow on. Finally, she let out a loud cry, not caring that her husband’s pajamas were getting wet.

"Matthias, I can’t. I don’t want to be separated from you. I’ve tried to hate you, but I can’t." For a moment, her husband stroked her head, slowly calming her heart and mind.

"I’ll be honest with you. I never really considered our marriage a game. But I really love you very much. I’ve never played with you all this time."

"Then why do you feel unworthy to be my husband? I love you so much, yet you want to end our relationship."

"Victoria, I want to do this because there is one thing I must do to save you from all the strange incidents you have experienced so far." In the end, Matthias pulled out his trump card before his wife hated him even more.

"What do you want to do?"

"That’s the only clue I can give you. If you want me to be safe too, you have to agree to this divorce."

Her vision grew increasingly blurry, nearly causing her to collapse. Matthias slowly patted his wife’s shoulder as he stared at the divorce papers, which still had her name on them.

"Matthias, I’ll sign the divorce papers. But you have to promise me one thing. Once everything is resolved, I want you to come back to me."

"What if it takes a long time?"

"I don’t care. I just want to marry you."

"Tory..."

"I know you still want to come back to me. The Matthias I know loves me deeply. No matter how much I’m insulted and slandered by everyone, you still protect me. You’re even willing to let everyone slander you just to protect me." She kissed her husband’s cheek for a moment. "I know everything you said yesterday was just an act, so my heart wouldn’t easily melt for you while you carried out your mission."

"Then why have you been crying from yesterday until now?"

"Because I was still in shock. But after I thought about it more carefully, it turns out what you said was true. The more we hold on to our relationship, the more dangerous it will be for us."

"After you sign the divorce papers, are you going to treat me like a stranger? You and I are still working together on the T&H Real Estate development project. Are you that reluctant to see me?"

"No. I can still differentiate between personal and work matters. Don’t worry, I won’t mess up your project."

Matthias pursed his lips as he took out a piece of divorce paper and his pen. "Since you promised not to treat me like a stranger, you must sign these divorce papers."

"Why do you want to divorce me so badly? Can’t you keep your promise that you want to come back to me?"

"Tory, I really want to promise you, but what if I fail? I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed in me."

"Why are you so doubtful about your strange idea? Isn’t this divorce your main plan?"

"Because I will marry Amber in the near future."

Victoria’s brow furrowed. "What?"

"If I really get caught in a marriage I don’t want, then I won’t be able to come back to you, Tory."

Still, Victoria ignored her husband’s words. She immediately grabbed the paper and pen from him, then signed the divorce papers and stamped them with confidence.

"I have agreed to divorce you."
