Chapter 153: Chapter 153: I Want To Marry Amber
Matthias felt disgusted when he uttered the words "I want to marry Amber." However, he had to do something else to keep Amber from bothering his wife. If he didn’t take the initiative to marry Amber, she would continue to pursue him at all costs, regardless of whether Victoria suffered or not. Now he wanted to focus on Amber, who had always been the one destroying his marriage.
Meanwhile, Amber didn’t expect her friend to suddenly want to marry her until she choked on her own cough. She even felt like the man she was having lunch with wasn’t her friend. She had always begged her friend to marry her, but her proposals were always rejected.
"Matthias, did I hear you right? Why do you want to marry me all of a sudden?"
Matthias gripped his friend’s hand tightly. "Haven’t you always wanted to marry me? Why are you doubting me now?"
"Because I still feel strange hearing what you just said. Usually, you’re always cold to me."
"Actually I’m not being cold, but I’m shy. Because I’m embarrassed in front of you."
Amber furrowed her brows. "Why are you acting so shy when we’ve been friends all this time?"
"Because I accidentally did it with Victoria, which made her pregnant out of wedlock."
"So, now you’re finally admitting that you and Victoria aren’t just business partners?" Amber laughed awkwardly, crossing her arms. "Matthias, I never thought you’d be so good at playing with women’s hearts."
"I’m sorry I lied to you all this time. It was actually me who made the mistake of hurting Victoria and bringing our relationship this far. Seeing our baby suddenly die in an accident, I couldn’t think straight until now. Every time I see Victoria’s face, I’m reminded of my unborn baby who suddenly died."
"That’s why I actually forbade you from letting him pursue you from the start. But you remained stubborn until you were completely blinded by his love."
Matthias actually made that statement intentionally to gauge Amber’s reaction. He was curious whether she would continue criticizing Victoria or show empathy.
"But, why aren’t you curious about me?" Matthias asked innocently.
"Curious about what?"
"How did you come to the D&C Group’s anniversary party? Didn’t you know Fransisca before?"
Amber put on a pleading expression. "Because Fransisca’s been interested in Deluxe Group lately. She wants to collaborate with my company."
Matthias nodded. "So, it’s safe to say you attended the party because you were just business partners."
"But, why are you so curious about our relationship?"
"It’s okay. I just feel something’s strange. As far as I can remember, Fransisca never hung out with you. And then, all this time, you’ve been wandering around America."
Amber sighed resignedly. "I’m actually still in shock from the bad news. I didn’t witness the accident firsthand. But I heard Fransisca scream as her sister fell down the stairs, and I immediately went to the scene. When I arrived, Victoria was unconscious."
"Amber, I don’t want to think about Victoria anymore. All I want is to marry you."
"Do you promise to forget Victoria? I don’t want you to be sweet to other women."
Matthias nodded enthusiastically. "I promise."
Amber got up from her chair and sat on her friend’s lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Then, I want us to meet your mother now. I can’t wait to marry you."
"It seems like you miss my mother a lot. Are you really that close?"
"Whenever you’re busy working, I always visit her. She really likes it whenever I visit her."
In fact, someone had been photographing Amber and Matthias from afar while they were having lunch at a restaurant. The person then passed the photos to Victoria using an anonymous number.

Matthias stared at his friend intently. "I want to marry Amber, Mom."
"What?" A beaming smile spread across her face. "Are you sure? Are you getting married?"
"I’m so fed up with all the women I’ve met in this world. Only Amber understands my feelings the most. After all, I’ve known her for so long. I won’t doubt her anymore."
Lucretia’s eyes fell on Amber. "I’m so happy to hear this exciting news."
Amber smiled gracefully at her future in laws. "Thank you for agreeing to our engagement, Mom."
"I’ll leave everything to you guys regarding the wedding preparations. Especially since I see Matthias so enthusiastic about marrying you, I’m so relieved."
"Mom, so you’re going to let me decide our wedding date?"
"Of course, my son. My duty is only to bless your relationship."
Matthias looked at Amber with a twinkle in his eye. "How about I have the wedding in three weeks?"
Amber smiled brightly and embraced her future husband enthusiastically. "Of course I do. The sooner the better, wouldn’t it?"
Lucretia clapped her hands enthusiastically. "I’m glad to see you guys so excited about getting married. I can’t wait for your wedding."
Amber patted her chest confidently. "Mom, leave the wedding dress selection to me. I have a reliable friend who can design wedding gowns."
Matthias could only resign himself to seeing Amber’s apparent happiness in wanting to marry him. Now he’s pretending to be Amber’s future husband to ensure his mission goes smoothly.

Meanwhile, Victoria had just finished lunch with Jennifer. After a satisfying chat with her friend, she was able to return to work, although she was still angry about her husband’s sudden divorce.
As soon as she returned to the office, she immediately opened an anonymous text message. The message showed photos of her husband making out with her enemy.
