Chapter 676: 53 Night Raid

Chapter 676: Chapter 53 Night Raid

As evening approached.

As the sun set, people on the beach slowly dispersed.

The girls who had played all day boarded cars parked by the roadside. The driver was Miss Ika from the Caucasus Assassin Organization, currently the Chief Assassin Master, who was assigned by Miel to protect Mia under the guise of Ika Xinkuimani, following the orders of the Demigod Sherry.

Sicily was now a tripartite hegemon, with most cities controlled by the Outville family, the countryside penetrated by local guerrilla squads, and the Lixini family managing the island’s passenger transport and trade.

Due to a secret agreement reached among Medea, Miel, and Nora, the three powers maintained fairly harmonious relations, each sticking to their own without overstepping.

In reality, the weakest was still Miel’s guerrilla force, which lacked manpower since its recent establishment and had to rely heavily on Derek and Sherry to mobilize organizational support. Without the support of two Demigods, they could barely coexist peacefully with the other two major forces.

Upon reaching the prearranged hotel, everyone got out and entered.

The hotel owner claimed to run a bed and breakfast, but it had long been switched to a member of the Assassin Organization. Ika booked five rooms on the second floor for everyone; except for Aske, who was the only male and occupied a single room, all the other girls were paired in double rooms.

At dinner time, Nora used the hotel’s kitchen to prepare some Sicilian specialties, much to the girls’ delight.

Even Medea couldn’t find fault with her well-honed culinary skills, only humming coldly as she ate voraciously and occasionally sneaking glances at Aske.

After dinner, everyone returned to the second floor to rest.

Aske’s room was at the end of the hallway, a placement that seemed subtly malicious.

Looking at the obviously double-sized bed in the room, Aske briefly contemplated before locking the door, changing into pajamas, and climbing into bed.

Sure enough, at around 11:30 p.m., someone suddenly unlocked the door from outside—probably managing to acquire a universal room card.

“Aske, are you in the room?” Medea’s sultry voice filled the air.

She was clearly pretending not to know, as her Mind Line had connected earlier, and Aske, sensing the danger with his Intuition, quietly flicked the Short Knife under his pillow to immediately sever the Mind Line attempting to Control him.

Upon realizing her ability was neutralized, Medea quickly confirmed the presence of the Squad Leader and hastened into the room, lunging towards the bed.

Sitting prepared on the bed, Aske dodged Medea’s lunge, slapping her on the back of the head in the process and burying her face into the thick duvet.

“Ouch, a nighttime ambush, Medea? Have you grown bolder after grasping the Law?” Aske firmly pinned Medea with his right hand, immobilizing her completely, while his left hand drew the Short Knife from under the pillow and gently tapped her slender neck with the cold blade.

Facing Aske’s “death threat,” Medea showed no fear, merely pretending to struggle (while activating her Desire Ability, trying to arouse his corrupt desires) and whimpering:

“Squad Leader, Squad Leader… I just wanted to watch the stars with you, why are you pinning me down on the bed?”

“Why dive onto the bed the moment you entered?” Aske countered.

“Because I wanted you to hold me and go watch the stars on the balcony,” Medea attempted to bluff her way through.

“Aske growled menacingly, “How about I throw you off the balcony and make your eyes see stars?”

Good thing I didn’t just carelessly go to sleep tonight, or I might have been controlled by you in my sleep, and who knows what unspeakable acts would have followed.

Before Medea could continue arguing, they suddenly heard Peggy’s voice from outside:

“Aske, are you asleep?”

“Quick, let me get under your blanket, don’t let her see!” Medea hurriedly said.

“Get under the bed!” Aske was not about to let her into his blanket, hastily trying to kick her off the bed. But this time, Medea was determined, taking the kick squarely with her chest, grunting in pain, and twisting her body to wriggle in.

“Huh, is the door open?” Peggy’s puzzled voice rang out, and now the two people on the bed dared not make another sound.

The girl from the Blood Clan pushed the door open and saw Aske sitting up in bed wearing his pajamas (his hands were under the blanket, firmly pressing down Medea’s hands that were trying to take advantage of him), looking over in some confusion.

“Peggy, what’s up?” Aske asked calmly.

“It’s like this, I’ve been promoted to Lv.16,” Peggy said, sitting on a chair by the bed. “I’ve now specialized in ‘Curse Death.’ I wanted to ask if your next specialization would be ‘Death Deprivation’ or ‘Apoptosis,’ to fully integrate them into the tangible laws, or are you trying to comprehend a new skill?”

“Definitely specialize,” Aske adjusted his sitting position slightly uncomfortably, as Medea under the blanket had now started lightly licking his thigh.

So, he pretended to scratch his leg and suddenly grabbed Medea’s neck under the blanket. Caught off guard, she let out a short, terrified scream—which was cut off mid-way as Aske choked her in the throat.

Peggy: ?

“What was that noise, did you hear it just now?” she asked, slightly alarmed.

“It sounded like a stray cat’s scream to me,” Aske said seriously, “maybe a cat in heat passing by outside, you know how they get all noisy and annoying when they’re in heat.”

“Why don’t I go out on the balcony and use my toxin ability to just poison them to death to stop the noise from disturbing our sleep?” Peggy suggested with an enlightened expression.

“Absolutely not,” Aske stopped her, “Maybe people living nearby like these stray cats. What if they come looking for trouble because of that?”

“If some bored people really come looking for trouble, then just kill them too…” Peggy said casually, then realized that statement was too brutal and not in line with the young girl persona she needed to maintain. She quickly pretended to be silly and laughed it off, “Haha, I’m just kidding. I’ll go drive them away instead.”

She got up and walked towards the balcony, sliding the door open, only to find it eerily silent outside.

“Huh, did they leave?” Peggy breathed a sigh of relief.

She really had no experience in dealing with stray animals nor any interest in outwitting them, so seeing nothing outside, she let her guard down.

While Peggy moved towards the balcony, Medea quickly raised her head under the blanket, breaking free from Aske’s chokehold and attempting to catch her breath, only for Aske to slap her on the forehead, making her tears flow from the pain.

The unfortunate Enchanting Demon rested her chin on Aske’s leg, curled up under the blanket, not daring to move an inch, fearing that Aske might give her another neck-choking surprise.
