Chapter 286: Chapter 296: I’ll Pick Up My Own Wife
Han Xi returned to the office and called Lu Jinghan, but no one answered even after waiting for a long time, so she edited a text message and sent it.
[Tonight, Senior said he’s coming to our house for dinner. After work, I’ll go home with him, so you don’t need to pick me up. Drive safely.]
After sending the message, Han Xi also called Sister Zhang, asking her to buy more ingredients at the supermarket, and said there would be guests for dinner at home, also telling Sister Zhang she would cook herself.
.....
After coming out of the conference room, Lu Jinghan saw the message from Han Xi, his brows furrowed unconsciously.
He returned to the office, put on his coat, and drove to the hospital.
Lu Jinghan parked the car in the hospital’s underground parking lot and then took the elevator to Han Xi’s office.
Han Xi had just finished reviewing a case and was resting with her head on the desk when she heard footsteps. She lifted her head and saw the deep and upright features of Lu Jinghan.
"Why are you here, didn’t you see my text message?"
Lu Jinghan paused by Han Xi’s side, leaned down, and held her lightly made-up face: "I’ll personally pick up my own wife."
"Well... Senior said he’d come to our home for dinner. I couldn’t say no, so I agreed."
Han Xi’s clear eyes shimmered with sparkling light, and with stray wisps of hair scattered at her forehead, she had an intriguingly beautiful aura.
Lu Jinghan lowered his head and gently enveloped Han Xi’s soft lips, sipping lightly, tracing them... His distinct fingers subtly rubbed her earlobe.
Han Xi’s body was forced to lean back, her hands tightly clutching Lu Jinghan’s lapels.
Just as they were passionately kissing, the office door was pushed open from outside: "Xiao Xi, can we..."
Hearing the voice, Han Xi hurriedly pushed Lu Jinghan away, her face hot like boiling water.
Song Yan lightly curled his lips, showing no embarrassment: "Turns out Mr. Lu is also here, sorry to interrupt."
Lu Jinghan lifted a hand to wipe away the moisture at the corner of Han Xi’s mouth, his thin lips slightly parted: "I heard from Xiao Xi that Dr. Song plans to come to my home tonight as a guest?"
"I hope Mr. Lu doesn’t mind."
"Since you’re Xiao Xi’s senior, we ought to extend hospitality."
With that, Lu Jinghan glanced at his watch, realizing it was time to finish work: "Let’s head out together."
While they were kissing earlier, Lu Jinghan didn’t detect jealousy in Song Yan’s eyes but rather... reassurance.
Though he wasn’t sure why Song Yan had traveled all the way from the United States to approach Han Xi, it was clear he bore no malice.
"Hurry and change clothes."
Lu Jinghan released Han Xi’s hand, his mouth curved in a faint smile.
Embarrassed, Han Xi bit her lip, the flush still visible on her face; she couldn’t bear to meet Song Yan’s gaze, it was... truly embarrassing.
Han Xi walked to the coat rack, changed clothes, and then joined them to walk out of the office.
The three took the elevator to the underground parking lot, with Lu Jinghan’s car leading the way and Song Yan driving behind.
Twenty minutes later, the cars stopped in front of the villa. Song Yan got out of the car and surveyed the villa.
"Senior, let’s go in."
"Alright." Song Yan, one hand in his pocket, followed Han Xi towards the villa.
At the entrance, they changed shoes, and Han Xi invited Song Yan to sit in front of the sofa in the living room, asking Sister Zhang to brew a pot of tea before going to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Song Yan, legs crossed, sat in front of the sofa, speaking seriously: "I wonder when Mr. Lu plans to hold the wedding with Xiao Xi. Surely it isn’t enough to simply register and call it marriage?"
