Han Xi was charmed by Lu Jinghan’s sweet words, feeling soft and weak, her heart and pulse seemed to lose control.
"Mrs. Lu, quickly tell me how I’m being unreasonable?"
Han Xi leaned on Lu Jinghan’s shoulder, her small hand held his narrow waist: "Lu Jinghan, my love for you is not less than yours for me. You can rush into a fire to save me, so why can’t I come looking for you out of concern? I was afraid you’d get into a fight with your second uncle and them, afraid you’d get hurt. When I couldn’t find you, I was worried sick."
Hearing Han Xi say this to him, Lu Jinghan felt his heart melt completely.
"I promise, I won’t make you worry ever again," Lu Jinghan said, glancing at Han Xi. "I’ll get a towel to help you wash up, breakfast will get cold soon."
Han Xi nodded and let go of Lu Jinghan.
After freshening up, Lu Jinghan sat by the hospital bed feeding Han Xi. Actually, Han Xi’s wrist wasn’t hurting anymore, but she was used to being taken care of by this man and refused to do anything herself.
After eating, Feng Yi and Li Manman unexpectedly walked in together. Li Manman was carrying a shoulder bag and walked in first, with Feng Yi following with one hand in his pocket.
Han Xi coughed lightly, a faint smile at the corner of her lips: "How come both of you came together?"
"Just ran into each other downstairs," Feng Yi casually replied, and then asked, "Little Sister-in-law, how’s your injury?"
Han Xi looked at Li Manman on the sofa with an expression of realization before turning her head to smile in response, "It’s fine now, pretty much healed."
Lu Jinghan tidied up the table and leaned in to speak to Han Xi: "I’ll step out with Feng Yi to discuss something, I’ll be back soon."
"Okay." Han Xi nodded.
The two of them exited the hospital room and stood by the window in the hallway smoking. Lu Jinghan flicked ash into the ashtray beside him and took out a recording pen from his pocket: "This contains the recordings from the hotel conversation, let Director Wang’s wife listen first, and then hand it to the police. They know what to do."
Feng Yi took the recording pen and raised an eyebrow: "Knew you wouldn’t let those cheating pair off easily."
"Anyone involved in that car accident from years ago, I won’t spare a single one."
Among the swirling smoke, Lu Jinghan’s deep black eyes harbored a fierce determination.
Lu Jinghan leaned with one hand in his pocket against the window, his cool voice carried with interest: "I heard from Xiao Xi that Li Manman is someone who avenges every grudge. You better watch out, or you might suffer for it later."
Feng Yi propped both arms on the window sill, a smile that was hard to read played on his lips: "That might not be the case, perhaps instead, she’ll end up completely under my control."
Lu Jinghan nodded seriously as he took a few drags of his cigarette before extinguishing it in the ashtray, then he patted Feng Yi’s shoulder: "Good luck."
When returning to the hospital room, Han Xi was already hooked up to an IV while Li Manman lay beside her bed chatting.
Upon seeing Lu Jinghan return, Han Xi slightly opened her lips and said: "Jinghan, if there’s something at the company, you can go handle it. Manman is here with me."
Lu Jinghan thought for a moment, his thin lips slightly parted: "There is something I have to take care of, be good, and I’ll be back soon."
