Recalling the security guard mentioned by the man, Xu An had a vague impression. There did seem to be a security guard in the community who frequently showed her attention.
She had assumed it was due to the high quality of the community's security personnel and hadn't thought much of it.
Thinking of this, she couldn't help but find it amusing.
It wasn't the first time such a thing had happened in her previous life. There were often presumptuous men who, seeing her alone and still quite attractive, would try to take liberties with her.
Without exception, those men had all become her casualties.
Although she didn't like killing, if trouble found her, it wasn't impossible to deal with it.
Thinking of the security guard, Xu An immediately thought of the security room. The security room was built in the underground parking garage, so perhaps there were some heat insulation facilities that allowed the other party to escape.
At the same time, she felt fortunate that she had parked her car directly at the back gate of the community for convenience, rather than in the underground garage.
Otherwise, her mother might have encountered that security guard.
After understanding everything, her heart felt incredibly calm.
She tucked the dagger to her waist, then took out her long saber and hung it there as well, walking towards the underground parking garage.
To do something is to do it thoroughly, leaving no cause for future trouble – that was the first lesson she had learned in the apocalypse!
It was now 5:15 AM.
In another hour and forty-five minutes, the sun would rise.
She had to finish quickly.
As soon as Xu An arrived at the underground parking garage, she noticed that it was actually cooler here than in the building's corridors.
"I wonder if it has undergone heat insulation treatment."
She murmured to herself as she approached the security room.
The security room door had two transparent mirrors, allowing a clear view of the room's layout.
Inside, there was a simple bed, and the person lying on it, fast asleep, was likely the security guard the man had mentioned.
Xu An scanned the surroundings and frowned, realizing the woman who had knocked on her door was not there.
She stood by the door, preparing to wait. If the woman didn't appear soon, she would deal with the security guard first.
As she was thinking, Liu Hong entered from behind the security room.
Xu An saw her almost immediately, quickly concealed herself, held her breath, and gripped the dagger tightly in her hand.
Liu Hong simply rinsed her body with some previously stored water. Although the water was already a bit murky, it was still better than being sticky all over.
While mentally plotting how to lure the woman named Xu An out of her home, she absently wiped her hair.
She had no idea that there was a third person in the room.
She placed her hand on the doorknob, pushed the door open, and stepped forward.
In an instant!
Xu An sidestepped and, before the other could utter a sound, slit her throat!
Drawing the blade, sheathing it – a fluid, seamless motion!
Xu An dodged the gushing blood and couldn't help but miss the years of extreme cold, when throats were slit without the worry of blood splashing.
Liu Hong looked at the suddenly appearing elegant woman, finding her familiar while fear belatedly surged into her heart.
She clutched her continuously bleeding neck with both hands, wanting to say something, but no sound came from her throat.
Her retreating steps knocked over a stool on the ground, creating a piercing noise.
Su Daqiang, lying on the bed, snorted and roared impatiently, "Damn it, can't an old man sleep!"
Liu Hong could no longer hold on, the blood soaking her newly changed clothes. She tried to crawl towards Su Daqiang, but Xu An fiercely stomped on her ankle.
In fear and despair, she breathed her last, her pupils wide open, as if unwilling.
In the last few seconds of her life, Liu Hong was still thinking:
"Why is this happening?"
"Why is she the one who died?"
So, what exactly was it?
Unfortunately, no one would provide her with an explanation. As Liu Hong fell, she accidentally hit a nearby iron shelf.
The commotion was too loud, and Su Daqiang also sensed that something was wrong. He abruptly rolled off the bed.
The simple bed frame creaked.
Xu An switched her dagger for the long saber.
Su Daqiang stared in astonishment at Liu Hong, who had already died on the ground, and the pool of blood, then at the still demure young girl before him.
For a moment, he couldn't believe that Xu An had killed someone.
"You... How could you kill someone..."
As the words left his mouth, Su Daqiang realized what he had said. He awkwardly wiped the sweat from his face, regaining his composure.
Xu An couldn't help but chuckle. This executioner, who had no doubt taken countless lives, was now accusing her of daring to kill.
Perhaps he couldn't accept the sudden disparity when the lamb transformed into a man-eating flower?
It was, undeniably, rather ridiculous.
Xu An wasted no words, drew out the long saber, its silver blade flashing with a bloodthirsty cold light, much like its wielder.
Su Daqiang tensed instantly as he looked at Xu An's stance with the saber; he recognized her as a martial artist and didn't dare to underestimate her.
He reached for the police baton on his bedside table and assumed a defensive posture.
Xu An didn't want to waste time. After all, villains always died from talking too much. Gripping her saber, she lunged at Su Daqiang.
Su Daqiang blocked with the police baton but hadn't expected Xu An's move to be just a feint.
Her eyes were sharp and fierce, and she looked at Su Daqiang as if he were already dead. Decisively, she discarded the long saber, and with a flick of her fingers, the dagger appeared in her hand before he could react.
Xu An lunged forward, plunging the dagger directly into Su Daqiang's heart!
If in her previous life Xu An's learned moves were merely flashy but ineffective displays, after ten years of tempering, she had long since discarded all superficial techniques.
Every move she made now was a killing blow designed to take a life!
Xu An swiftly withdrew the dagger. Before Su Daqiang could retreat, she pressed her advantage, gripping the dagger and stabbing him several more times in rapid succession.
She didn't even give him time to utter a last word, continuing until Su Daqiang finally breathed his last.
Blood spurted continuously from the stab wounds, staining Xu An's hands and sleeves.
Xu An coldly stood up from Su Daqiang's corpse.
Splattered with flecks of blood on her fair face, she found it rather dirty and rubbed it vigorously with her sleeve.
Looking at her hand, she realized her sleeve was also soaked with blood.
One could only imagine the expression on her face.
No one would ever know that the police baton had reminded her of the scene where Gou Dan's skull was smashed.
The moment she made the first stab, a taut string in her mind snapped, and the instantaneous breakdown made her lose control.
She couldn't control herself and could only stab the man mindlessly several times until she regained her senses.
Once conscious again, she looked at the mess on the floor with cold eyes.
There was not a trace of life about her; she seemed more like a vengeful spirit wandering the earth.
...
After a long while, she finally remembered that she needed to clean herself up quickly. What would happen if her mother saw her?
