Zhou Haimei felt a chill just thinking that if this man didn't die now, he would forever stare at them like a venomous snake.
Xu An thought the same as Zhou Haimei, but she was thinking more because there was a child in their home now.
She would not allow any danger to threaten her family, friends, or herself.
Xu An calculated the time and, taking advantage of the interval while Qin Chuan was likely rushing over, she took out the potion again.
Zhou Haimei watched nervously.
The potion had a strong, rotten smell of corpses, as if ten tons of decaying flesh had been condensed into this single bottle.
No wonder it could attract so many zombies.
"An An, be careful. Even one drop of this potion can attract a lot of zombies."
She was afraid Xu An would accidentally pour out the entire bottle. If that happened, the few of them would likely be torn apart by all the zombies in District B.
Xu An herself was extremely tense.
She hadn't been nervous before because she didn't know the potion's potency. However, after using it once at the convenience store, Xu An realized what a powerful weapon it was.
As the drop of dark liquid slowly descended, Xu An felt a stirring in her surroundings.
Xu An knew that the zombies were approaching this location.
She had deliberately waited fifteen minutes after hanging up Qin Chuan's call before beginning her action.
If Qin Chuan believed her, he should have been rushing towards them the moment they hung up.
Including the time lost on the road, Qin Chuan should have already reached their building.
Zhou Haimei didn't ask what would happen if Qin Chuan didn't come.
They both knew that even if that possibility existed, they couldn't turn back now.
Once a large number of zombies arrived, everyone would be too busy saving themselves to care about any prior relationships.
Zhou Haimei nervously watched the zombies gathering below and the ones continuously approaching.
Perhaps because the zombies' commotion was too loud, it eventually alerted Sun Er.
He was wrapped in thick bandages and appeared to be injured, but even his wounds did not impede his movements.
His brow was furrowed, as if he had sensed something was wrong, yet he chose to wait and see.
Xu An did not see Qin Chuan from below.
In just ten minutes, the street below was completely blocked by zombies.
But clearly, Sun Er was not to be trifled with.
After killing a few zombies, he quickly sealed the doors and windows tightly.
Before long, his small room was surrounded by zombies, layer upon layer.
It had to be said that it seemed heaven itself was helping Xu An.
Perhaps Sun Er's injuries had caused blood to seep out again due to his movements.
In any case, the zombies acted as if they had radar installed on Sun Er; even if he moved around inside the room, the zombies' frenzy would halt him.
"An An, what if this Sun Er keeps hiding inside and doesn't come out?" Zhou Haimei held the binoculars, observing Sun Er's situation while also searching for Qin Chuan's fate.
Although Xu An hadn't said anything, twenty minutes had passed since she started using the potion.
Given Qin Chuan's speed, he should have appeared on the rooftop by now.
But Qin Chuan had not made a move.
This made Xu An wonder if Qin Chuan had sensed something and was therefore not coming to find them.
Xu An's brow furrowed. She didn't believe Qin Chuan would make a move to save Sun Er.
However, Qin Chuan's behavior was already displeasing.
She didn't think she was cruel; at times, Xu An even felt she wasn't cruel enough.
Most of the time, she maintained a degree of kindness and humanity.
Zhou Haimei, however, wasn't paying attention to Xu An's chaotic thoughts.
She complained beside Xu An, "Why hasn't Qin Chuan come yet? Was he killed by zombies? And how do we deal with that man over there? The commotion here is too big. If it attracts the official people and they rescue that scarred man, it'll be over."
Xu An understood this better than anyone.
She took the binoculars from Zhou Haimei. "From here, can you be sure you can shoot through that window opposite us with a sniper rifle?"
Zhou Haimei blinked.
"You have a sniper rifle?"
Xu An didn't reply, just nodded.
She had kept a sniper rifle in her spatial storage, specifically for situations like this.
However, she had never used a sniper rifle herself.
Although Zhou Haimei didn't have her eyesight, she understood firearms better than a novice like herself.
Zhou Haimei looked ahead, calculated the wind direction, and under Xu An's expectant gaze, finally shook her head helplessly.
"No, there are too many obstructions, and there's no wind here. I don't think I can make the shot."
Xu An was a bit disappointed. If Zhou Haimei couldn't do it, then she definitely couldn't.
Just as the two were at a loss, the fire escape on the top floor inexplicably heard knocking.
"Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock, knock."
Xu An and Zhou Haimei exchanged glances. This was their agreed-upon signal with Qin Chuan.
Xu An, holding her gun, cautiously walked to the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's me."
Only when a familiar voice came through did Xu An breathe a sigh of relief.
She opened the fire escape door and saw Qin Chuan, looking dusty and travel-worn.
Looking at Qin Chuan's disheveled appearance, she inexplicably felt like laughing.
"Every time I see you, you always seem so disheveled."
Upon hearing this, Qin Chuan lowered his head and gave a wry smile.
She hadn't said it, and he hadn't thought about it, but now that she mentioned it, Qin Chuan realized it was indeed true. No matter where he met Xu An, he always seemed to be in such a sorry state.
"Why so late? We thought you weren't coming."
Zhou Haimei interrupted their exchange.
Qin Chuan scratched his head awkwardly. "I was almost delayed on the way. I didn't not want to come."
Zhou Haimei pouted, clearly not believing him. Qin Chuan quickly looked at Xu An.
"I really didn't deliberately not want to come."
Xu An found Qin Chuan's explanation somewhat baffling.
"It's okay, you don't need to explain to me."
Qin Chuan looked disappointed, while Zhou Haimei watched the scene unfold with amusement.
"By the way, do you know how to use a sniper rifle?"
Qin Chuan was startled at first, then belatedly realized the question was directed at him.
So Qin Chuan nodded frantically, "Yes, I do."
Upon hearing this, Xu An's gloom lifted considerably.
