Chapter 418: An Open Heart
Wen Nuan was furious, her face was burning hot.
But what did it matter? She already had the magazine.
Wen Nuan flipped to the first page, and her jaw dropped. It was a short story written by Ye Feimo, with him and Wen Nuan as the main characters. It was about small, everyday things from their lives.
It was heartwarming, funny, and... touching.
Especially the scene by the river. When Wen Nuan reread it, she found it so moving. The atmosphere and setting were so beautiful that it made her feel deeply loved and cherished, as if this man would love her forever and never leave her.
Her heart ached. If she had seen their stories on a normal day, especially the funny and happy moments, she would have laughed out loud, but at that moment, it just made her sad.
The sadness of things changing and people being different.
From these short stories, it was clear how much Ye Feimo cared about her. His affection for her touched her deeply.
She knew he loved her.
She had always known.
But with so many couples in the world, how many of them actually grow old together?
How many couples understand, love, and stay with each other for a lifetime?
What was a funny story to others was making her want to cry. If Ye Feimo hadn’t been there, she would have cried. His intense gaze was on her face, trying to read her expression. Wen Nuan kept a straight face as she flipped through the pages. No matter how much of a storm was raging in her heart, she didn’t show it on her face.
What was Ye Feimo doing?
She had forgotten some of their daily conversations, but he remembered them so clearly. Between them, who really put in more effort?
A sharp pain shot through Wen Nuan’s heart, and her fingers couldn’t help but tremble.
What was this fool doing?
What Wen Nuan didn’t know was that Ye Feimo had not only given this information to Anning but also to Green Light Daily. The readers of Anning and Green Light Daily were different and opposed. He did this to let more people know that he and Wen Nuan were just an ordinary couple, with ups and downs, just like everyone else. He also wanted to show the audience, who had accused Wen Nuan of using people to get ahead and being a hypocrite, a more genuine side of her.
He wanted everyone to know...
That he loved Wen Nuan.
This kind of short story wasn’t just about memory; it was about putting your heart into it.
He had put his heart into Wen Nuan.
He admitted that he would do anything to make Wen Nuan stay with him and not get a divorce. He had used every trick in the book, and when nothing else worked, he resorted to this foolish method, hoping to win back his wife’s heart.
What did it matter if the whole world knew? He loved her, and there was nothing to be afraid of.
This reckless move was unexpected for many people. With Ye Feimo’s personality, he wouldn’t even have done something so foolish to brainwash Ye Wei, but he did.
Even Cheng Anya was surprised.
Wen Nuan finished reading the magazine. Besides the stories Ye Feimo wrote, it also exposed funny stories from her childhood, pictures of her as a child, and many good deeds she had done that the media didn’t know about.
This magazine was not only a declaration of his love for her but also a message to those who were waiting to see her fail. It said that she was and would always be the second daughter-in-law of the Ye family, and as long as she was willing, his heart would always be open to her.
She would be lying if she said she wasn’t touched. Wen Nuan couldn’t even convince herself that she didn’t feel anything.
She was filled with a deep sense of gratitude.
But she kept a straight face as she handed the magazine back to her mother, closed her eyes coldly, and blocked out his disappointment and sadness. If she didn’t see it, it wouldn’t hurt so much.
Her mother looked at Wen Nuan and then at Ye Feimo. Ye Feimo lowered his eyes, and his expression was unreadable.
She sighed.
These two kids were more difficult to understand than anyone else.
Even so, her mother didn’t say anything.
The plane arrived in Athens quickly, and it was already evening. Her mother and Wen Nuan had already booked a hotel. When they got off the plane, they all walked together. Her mother and Ye Feimo talked a lot, while Wen Nuan and Zhang Ling barely said a word.
"Mom, I have a house in the city. The place you’re staying is close to me. Why don’t you stay with me? It’ll be more convenient," Ye Feimo suggested considerately, playing the son-in-law card all the way.
Her mother was conflicted. The purpose of this trip was to help Wen Nuan and Ye Feimo with their marriage problems. After weighing her options, her mother was about to agree when Wen Nuan cut in. "Mom, we already booked a hotel. There’s no need to trouble him."
Ye Feimo said smoothly, "It’s no trouble at all. I can pick you up and drop you off wherever you want to go. I’m very familiar with Athens. I can be your director and translator."
Wen Nuan looked at Ye Feimo coldly. "Aren’t you here for work? You seem to have a lot of free time."
Ye Feimo said good-naturedly, "I always have time to pick up my wife and mother-in-law, no matter how busy I am."
When Wen Nuan heard the word "wife," her face flushed. She turned away uncomfortably, silently fuming. Her mother smiled and said, "As long as it doesn’t get in the way of your work, we’ll stay with you."
"Mom!" Wen Nuan called out, stopping her mother, who had just sold her out. She glared at Ye Feimo. It was less of a glare of anger and more of a loving stare, which was incredibly charming.
Ye Feimo was very pleased.
Zhang Ling remained calm. No matter what Ye Feimo said, she showed no emotion.
Someone from Athens was there to pick up Ye Feimo. Zhang Ling took a taxi to the hotel by herself. The driver was a middle-aged, educated man. He was a gentleman who helped her put her luggage in the car. Wen Nuan was about to get in the passenger seat, but her mother, being very quick, pulled her back. To Wen Nuan’s surprise, she quickly opened the car door and got in.
Ye Feimo chuckled to himself. *My mother-in-law is so smart.* His mother-in-law gave him a look that said, *Of course I am.*
The driver and Ye Feimo spoke in English. Wen Nuan could understand them. The man was a butler.
She had no choice but to get in the car and sit with Ye Feimo.
The ride was silent. Aside from her mother and her occasional conversation, Ye Feimo and Wen Nuan barely said a word. Wen Nuan’s gaze was fixed on the scenery of Athens outside the window, but she couldn’t take any of it in.
Athens was beautiful, but her mind was elsewhere.
The small car was filled with his scent, the cologne she was so used to. She was the one who picked it out. She didn’t like his old scent and had picked a new one she liked more.
He had been using it ever since and loved it.
