Chapter 349: Surprise attack

Chapter 349: Surprise attack

Damon looked at the giant mana shards and exhaled deeply. Right now, mana cores and even these mana shards might seem pretty much useless for most of the players except for people who chose alchemy or smithing, but all of that was going to change now.

Today, people dismissed them as crafting scraps; tomorrow, they would be the currency of power. Once a person reached C rank, leveling became a lot more complicated. It wouldn’t be simple monster farming anymore.

At that time one needed a huge amount of resources make any progress. An inevitable bottleneck would strangle even so-called geniuses when they finally hit that wall.

When that time comes, a lot was required just to take a small step forward and along with that a shit ton of mana cores were also needed.

As he thought about it, Damon realized he had been far too one-track-minded. He needed to hit the auction house more and purchase things which were currently sold at a ridiculously cheap price and would later on shoot up in value when their correct use was discovered.

There were a few more things he could do like that like purchasing lands and shops and so on. All of this was extremely bothersome and would waste quite a bit of his time but the returns would be tremendous.

He at least needed to pawn this work off to someone else and somehow get it done. Otherwise, he would be scrap picking like this for money everytime something important popped up. He needed a constant source of revenue.

Damon’s brain raced with many thoughts as he asked Azuna. "Any chance you could also absorb this whole mine into your world and nurture it? Maybe even pop out some mana shards for me every now and then?"

Azuna remained silent for a moment and then slowly shook her head. "I am sorry, Master. I understand your wishes but right now such a thing is not possible for me. Perhaps if I could obtain just one more item for my domain stabilization, I could definitely do something like this and even a lot more than grow a simple mine."

Damon nodded. He had kind of already expected this. "Another item, huh? Then I’ll find it for you."

If Azuna could stabilize her world enough to store mines, and who knows what else, then the possibilities were endless. He wouldn’t just be farming loot, he’d own the damn production line. However, that needed some seed funding which he couldn’t afford right now. It had to wait.

"Please forgive me, Master." Azuna looked a little sad.

Damon smiled and patted her head. "It’s okay. Don’t worry about it. You have already done a lot for me. Take care of that idiot tree or plant for me. That’s enough for now. I will feed you with good stuff soon. I promise."

Azuna lowered her gaze shyly, crimson hair cascading like a curtain of blood. "With that... my world would become strong enough to sustain entire domains. Whatever you place inside, I could reshape, refine, and even multiply. It would be yours, Master. All yours."

Damon waved her goodbye and dismissed her. He then placed all the mana shards in front of him into his storage space. There was no point in selling this right now. He would only get a fraction of its value and it wouldn’t be anywhere close to the millions of gold coins he needed.

He looked at the mine again. It looked tired, battered and bruised like a house wife but he had no doubt that it would recover pretty soon.

He did not have to wait that long. He could potentially sell its location to the vampire base even now. Once again, that wouldn’t net anything close to the amount he needed.

It would truly be a waste to hand over something this useful. He would be selling the golden goose for a couple of cheap dollars. That was also not the right decision.

Damon started exiting the mine in deep thoughts. Though this trip had been fruitful, it still did not do much in terms of solving his money problems. This left him with one option, one very risky, troublesome option. But he had a feeling it would pan out and might even work in his favor.

The only negative part was that if he did that, then he would officially make an enemy out of every damn super guild and would probably be hunted to the ends of the world no matter where he ran.

This situation was going to happen one way or the other but it did not have to happen so soon. Damon was thinking about it as he reached the mine entrance where Blood Wraith and Phoenix were still kind of twitching from the mental attack. It looked like they hadn’t completely recovered yet.

He cast a gentle healing spell on both the siblings and continued to mull over things in his mind. First, he dealt with Phoenix and then he finished healing Blood Wraith. Normally, healing wouldn’t really help with mental attacks but it looked like these two were already past the brunt of the attack so a simple healing skill helped quicken things along.

Damon could see Phoenix stir awake and in front of him, Blood Wraith was also waking up. Damon stood up, still thinking about what to do when suddenly he felt a warm body jump on him.

"Huh?" He turned around to see a stunningly beautiful face pressed up against him. Phoenix had jumped onto him, and wrapped around him tightly with her long legs locking him in.

Damon was completely speechless. "What..." He started to speak but before he could say anything, the woman directly smashed their lips together and even stuck her tongue in.

For a heartbeat Damon’s mind went blank, his body locked between shock and instinct. Phoenix tasted like chocolate and her tongue was hot and demanding, moving with wild aggression. Her nails dug lightly into his shoulders and her hands grabbed his head.
