Chapter 366 Heading to South City

Chapter 366: Chapter 366 Heading to South City

The next day, after breakfast, Old Sir Jiang and his party checked out and headed to the train station to catch a train. Although the travel time was about the same whether by car or train, Old Sir Jiang still chose to take the train.

To make resting easier, Old Sir Jiang had arranged for soft sleepers; the whole family shared a small sleeper compartment, making it quite peaceful.

It was Cheng Li’s first time traveling far, and she was quite excited. She kept gazing out the window eagerly, and seeing her enthusiasm, both Old Sir Jiang and Old Madam Jiang had faint smiles on their faces.

"Xiao Li, is this your first time on a train?" Old Madam Jiang rarely took the initiative to speak with Cheng Li, leaving her feeling pleasantly surprised.

Ever since Old Jiang brought her back to the hotel, she knew that Old Madam Jiang didn’t quite like her. Consequently, she seldom bantered in front of Old Madam Jiang. But surprisingly, once they boarded the train, Old Madam Jiang took the initiative to speak to her and even wore a smile, which made her quite happy. She replied with a smile: "Yes, grandma, not only is it my first time on a train, but it’s also my first time traveling far."

"When I first took a train, I was just like you, so excited, and I didn’t stop the whole way."

With a common topic at hand, Old Madam Jiang and Cheng Li started chatting, albeit sporadically. As they talked and admired the scenery outside, time passed unknowingly. Old Sir Jiang watched them engage in such an enjoyable conversation and occasionally chimed in with a word or two.

For a time, the atmosphere in the compartment was very pleasant. It wasn’t until Old Madam Jiang showed signs of tiredness that Cheng Li concluded their chat and said to her: "Grandma, you seem tired. Why not rest for a while, and I’ll wake you when we arrive?"

Old Madam Jiang was indeed tired. Upon hearing Cheng Li’s suggestion, she nodded with a smile: "Alright!"

After seeing Old Madam Jiang rest, Old Sir Jiang also closed his eyes to rest. However, Cheng Li, still in a state of excitement, couldn’t sleep a wink. So she leaned by the window, watching the view outside, lost in her thoughts.

To her, South City was a completely unfamiliar place. It would be a lie to say she wasn’t afraid, but the thought of finally being able to outshine Jiang Xue filled her with resolve.

No matter what, she was determined to go to South City. Because only by reaching South City and becoming the Jiang Family’s eldest miss would she have the means to deal with Jiang Xue.

As time ticked away, after more than four hours, the train began to slow down. Cheng Li knew they were reaching South City.

At this moment, she felt a mix of tension and unease, unsure of what awaited her. But one thing was certain, South City was the start of her new life and the beginning of her journey to stand above others.

A female announcer’s voice came over the broadcast: Passengers, we have arrived in South City. Passengers disembarking at South City, please gather your luggage and prepare to disembark.

Upon hearing the announcement, Cheng Li was just about to wake the still resting Old Sir and Madam Jiang, only to find them already awake.

"Grandpa, grandma, you’re awake? We’ve arrived in South City."

"Alright, gather our things and prepare to disembark."

"Okay, grandpa and grandma, I’ve packed everything up, we can step off anytime."

"Not bad!" Old Sir Jiang nodded with satisfaction and praised her. Cheng Li laughed and said, "Grandpa, it’s what I should do."

Old Jiang chuckled and said no more. The train came to a stop, and Cheng Li followed Old Sir Jiang off the train.
