Chapter 338: Chapter 338 Changing Methods
Because they had already checked out of their previous hotel, the two of them didn’t go back and instead found a hotel closer to where Jiang Xue lived to stay.
Jiang Xue was aware of the leaving of the Jiang Family elders, but she never came out. After discovering their true nature, she had no desire to have any contact with them.
Jiang Xue stayed in her room for quite a while until Little Reunion had fallen asleep before she came out.
Father Jiang and Mrs. Jiang had not left; they were still in the living room waiting for Jiang Xue.
Seeing Jiang Xue come out of the room, Father Jiang got straight to the point and asked, "Xue’er, what exactly do you think about returning to the Jiang Family?"
The words from the Jiang Family elders before were harsh, but the blood relation between them and Jiang Xue was real. Whether Jiang Xue admitted it or not, the fact that she was part of the Jiang Family couldn’t be changed.
"Dad, don’t worry, I won’t go back. In my heart, you are my real family."
Jiang Xue’s words greatly reassured Father Jiang, yet he was still somewhat worried, "Xue’er, the Jiang Family has considerable influence. If you reject them and they do something behind the scenes, what then?"
"Dad, don’t worry, they won’t. Moreover, they don’t dare. Don’t forget, I’m part of the Mu Family now. Mr. Mu is no pushover, and the Mu Family’s influence is far greater than the Jiang Family’s."
"If the Jiang Family wants to mess with me, they must think it over. Besides, Old Sir Jiang isn’t foolish; he wouldn’t dare take risks or offend Mr. Mu. So, just rest assured, they won’t dare do anything to me."
"Xue’er, that may be true, but what if they keep pestering you?"
"That’s indeed a problem. But I’ll try to avoid running into them. If they come to the house again, just tell them I’m not home and don’t let them in."
"Alright, but I’m worried they’ll be hard to get rid of. If they cling on, what should we do then?"
Jiang Xue thought about it and agreed her parents had a point. It seemed she needed to lay low for a while. With this in mind, Jiang Xue quickly came up with a plan.
Fortunately, she didn’t have much going on recently, and it had been a while since she last saw her in-laws. So, she decided to take her child back to the countryside for a few days.
Jiang Xue then said to her parents, "Dad, Mom, I’m planning to head back to the countryside for a few days."
"That’s a good idea. Your in-laws have been back a while. They probably miss Little Reunion, too. Take the child and stay for a while; it will also help avoid being pestered."
With that decision made, Father Jiang and Mrs. Jiang went back to bed relieved.
Early the next morning, Jiang Xue said goodbye to her parents, carrying Little Reunion to the station to catch a ride to the countryside.
Jiang Xue left without the Jiang Family elders knowing. Old Sir Jiang hadn’t come up with any good ideas after thinking all night, but Old Madam Jiang had an idea, saying, "Dear, they say a forceful suitor wins over a steadfast woman. I think we can adopt this tactic, pestering Jiang Xue until she’s too frustrated and decides to acknowledge her roots."
Hearing this, Old Sir Jiang was a bit hesitant. He was a man who cared about his reputation, and he found it difficult to humble himself to pester someone who didn’t respect him.
But he also felt his wife’s words made sense; Jiang Xue responded better to softness than to toughness. If they used force, it would only lead to a clash.
If they changed their approach, maybe things would work out.
