Chapter 222: These pirates weren’t that fun
"The Garbagio Pirates? What an odd name. We can kill them, right?" Amaya asked, letting her claws out.
"Yes! Absolutely! I don’t know how they found us, but we need to get rid of them now!" Seaweed and his men went into their fighting stances, preparing for a battle.
"That’s probably how." Kai pointed in the air at a bird that kept circling their ship. He shot it down since it kept getting annoying. When it fell on the deck, Seaweed was able to confirm that the bird belonged to the pirates.
"Come on, Kai. Let’s go cut off some heads." Amaya nearly leaped to the other ship, but Kai caught her in time.
"Hold on, let’s have a chat first. I’ve always wanted to talk to pirates."
"Really, dude?" Kyana rolled her eyes.
"Pirates usually carry a lot of treasure!" Kai said that so Sasha could be on his side.
Her ears wiggled. "I say we let Kai talk to them." She nodded confidently as if she actually formed her own opinion.
"Boring." Amaya pouted.
When the pirate ship came close, they connected ships, and the two captains walked over to each other.
Kai cleared his throat before greeting the pirate captain. "Arg! Howdy Mate?! ’Tis a fine day at sea innit?!"
Everyone looked at him like the biggest idiot ever.
"W-What?" The captain was caught off guard by Kai’s greeting.
"Eh? No greeting? Yer no fine captian I tell ya! A scallywag is what yer are!"
"Excuse me, but why is your captain speaking like this?" The pirate asked.
"He was dropped on the head as a child, just bear with it." Kyana responded.
"I-I see." The captain nodded.
"Dropped on me head as a little beanstock? Nar! Tis lies! Me own crew spouting lies! I should have yer walk de plank!
Gwen had had enough. "Kai!"
"Ugh, fine. Such party poopers." Kai actually spoke to the captain properly this time.
"What do you want?" He asked
"The girl."
"And if I say no?"
"Then you’ll feel the wrath of the Garbagio Pirates. Do you know that our employer is Carlito Karel? He’s the one who just took over the Blue Magic tower. I know you lot are mercenaries, so this is a little above your pay grade, so just sit back and hand over the girl."
Kai nodded. "Just give me a minute to talk things out with my teammates."
The six of them huddled into a circle.
"Okay, so first of all, they are pretty polite for pirates. I thought they would be aggressive, ugly, and have bad teeth." Kai thought that he had watched too many movies.
"This is a little above our pay grade, though. 3 gold isn’t worth this." Gwen pointed out. "But I think we should still follow through with the job."
"As long as we can crack some skulls, then this is worth every penny." Amaya grinned
"Like Kai said, they probably have gold on their ship. We can just take that as our reward."
"We need to know more about this continent, so helping Abigail is the best option. Besides, she’s the daughter of an important figure. We could use that influence to aid in our travels." Kyana thought this was way better than just figuring things out on their own.
Nadya nodded. "Agreed. Taking them on won’t be an issue anyway."
"It’s decided then. We’ll take them out and take their valuables. I’ll distract them while you guys catch them off guard. You ready?" Kai asked.
"Let’s do this."
"Okay! We’ve come to a conclusion. We’ll hand over the girl." Kai said confidently, holding out his hand for a handshake,
"You know that everyone heard what you all said, right?" Captain Garbagio was shocked at how stupid people could be.
"Dammit! He’s on to us! Go, go, go!" Kai punched Garbagio in the face, sending him flying into his own ship, and he pushed it away with his power.
"Attack!"
"Protect the captain!"
"Fire the cannons!"
Ten powerful explosions went off, shooting blasts toward Kai’s ship.
Seaweed grabbed Abigail’s arm. "Take cover!" He shouted to everyone, but when the cannonballs should have hit the ship, they just bounced off an invisible barrier.
"Cool, huh? There’s a barrier around the ship. You’ll be safe here." Kai took off to fight the captain.
"We desperately need him to help us fight Carlito Karel. I’m positive he can beat him!" Abigail couldn’t help but stare at Kai as he completely obliterated the captain with no effort.
It only took five minutes to wipe out the pirates and steal all of their valuables. It was pretty underwhelming. Kai expected a larger fleet of pirates to show up and aid Garbagio, but that never happened.
"Well, that was pretty lame. Okay, time to get moving." Kai resumed their voyage to...Actually, he didn’t know where they were going.
"By the way, where are we headed? You never specified it."
"The blue magic tower." Seaweed clarified.
"Yeah, talk to me as if I have no idea where that place is."
"What? You don’t know where the magic towers are? Every sorcerer knows-"
"Well, not everyone apparently. Besides, we didn’t grow up here. We know nearly nothing of the outside world. Now just tell us where the fucking magic tower is."
Hearing Kai curse at him made Seaweed watch himself. He saw firsthand how strong and petty Kai was, so he was not trying to end up like Karol.
"It’s on Sharkfang Island. If you keep north, you’ll make it to the island. You cant miss it either. It’s the largest Island in the eastern part of the archipelago."
Kai looked at his map and saw the Island. It really did look like a shark’s fang...or tooth. Why isn’t it called Shartooth Island?
He set a course and put the ship on autopilot.
"Kai, may I have a word with you?" Abigail asked, pulling him to the side.
"I’d like you to help me save my mother." She was confident that Kai was powerful enough to beat Carlito, or was at least strong enough to free her mother.
"You paying?"
