Chapter 205: Hello, Kai here
Celeste, who was the one speaking, threw her arms back as Kai walked forward into the light, revealing himself. He wore a white and gold suit while wielding the hero’s sword. Raising it above his head, the sword beamed with light for all to see.
"W-Woahhhh!!!"
"Oh my goshhhh!"
"We love you!"
"K-Kai’s the hero?!"
"Is that Kai?!"
"Kyaaaaa! We love you even more, Kai!"
Everyone was either gushing about him or was shocked that he was the hero. Regardless of the reaction, the crowd went crazy.
"Now, a few words from our hero." Celeste nodded to Kai.
"Ahem. Sup y’all. I’m sure some of you already know who I am, but if you don’t, I’m Kai LuForia, the hero of Gracia. To be a hero, you need to be strong, but also wise and thoughtful. You need to be able to work with others, help others, and never turn a blind eye to justice!"
"Pwahahaha! You turn a blind eye to justice all the time!" Gwen did not say that out loud, of course.
"When I became the hero, I was scared and I didn’t wish to be it, and the funny thing was that I did at first, but wishing for something and actually getting it are two different things. As I traveled, gaining experience along the way, I slayed demons and eventually made my way here, but as you all know, the demon king appeared."
Everyone shifted uncomfortably.
"It was a hard and difficult fight.....Ahh, who am I kidding? That shit was easy as fuck! I beat the shit out of that stupid ass demon. He was nothing but a little bitch! I wont lie, he was rocking my shit in the beginning, but that was it. Once I locked in, it was a wrap. There’s a reason why he’s dead, and I’m not! Hahahaha!"
"S-Sir Kai, may I ask you a question?" A boy around his age asked.
"Sure, ask away."
"Were you scared to fight the demon king?"
"Hell nah. It was pretty exciting, actually. I knew I would win anyway. Are you scared to fight a fucking toddler? I’d hope not."
"Sir Kai, what’s it like being the hero?" Another person asked.
"It’s like dealing with a bunch of rowdy kids, annoying." He answered honestly.
"Sir Kai, are you married?!" Some women asked, giggling when the words left their mouths.
"Yup, I have like 21 wives or something. I’m honestly starting to lose count. You know some of them. Kyana, Amaya, Gwen, Sasha, Nadya, Emerald, Janna, Vanessa, and so on."
"Woah!"
People started murmuring and looked around to see if they could spot one of the girls Kai had listed.
"Kai! I challenge you to a duel!"
Kai looked down to see an angry Sonya glaring at him. She looked as if she had been played by someone and was made to look like a fool.
"Okay." Kai jumped off the stage and landed next to her.
"You’re a real bastard, you know that?!"
"Hey, you’re the one who stood me up. I actually wanted to go on a date with you."
She sucked her teeth. "No! Not that! Why didn’t you tell me you’re the hero?!"
"We’re not that close, love. But if you want to be, I don’t mind making that happen."
"I’d rather fight you."
He smirked. "In bed or with magic?"
"Magic!"
Luckily, the fighting stage where the tournament took place was not that far away. They jumped on it, took their stances, and prepared for Celeste to give them the green light to fight.
"Let the battle...Begin!"
Sonya wasted no time using her full power. Her eyes shifted into slits, and scales grew along her forehead, cheeks, and neck. Her hands and feet morphed into scaly claws, and a tail and wings grew out of her back.
This was her draconic form, and since she was a dragon class, she had a lot of potential.
Five lightning talons sliced through the air, missing Kai by a breath. Sonya acted instantly, shifting her momentum and kicking at Kai with her foot covered in metal.
"Ohh, that’s cool." He easily blocked her attack and flung her away.
"Nngh!" Sonya thrusted her claws into the ground to stop her movements and lunged back at Kai. Her fingers moved in specific intervals, making shapes and hand signs.
"What is.." Kai didn’t even have time to ask a question when the air in front of his face randomly exploded.
Sonya stomped on the ground, making it loose and wet until Kai’s foot sank into it.
"Is this all you got, Hero?" She taunted him, but little did she know that she was the one being toyed with.
Sonya froze his other leg, then bound his arms with an electric whip that shocked his body.
Once he was fully immobilized, she opened her mouth and a massive, powerful breath attack bombarded Kai at full force. If he were any other person, they would have suffered major injuries or would have simply died.
But for Kai, this was basically a super mana-expensive back massage. Or face massage, since the blast hit his front, not his back.
"Haah! Take that! It’s what you get for being late three days ago and for leading me on, thinking you were just some random person."
"Really? You’re upset over that?" Kai emerged from the smoke cloud with not even a scratch on him. Even his outfit was clean.
"W-What? You’re still standing after that?"
"Sonya, I fought the demon king. He makes you look like an ant in comparison." Kai did absolutely nothing but stick his finger out, but that movement alone was enough to send a wave of mana so powerful that it completely overwhelmed her and shattered any thoughts of her beating Kai.
No, she knew she couldn’t beat Kai, but she at least hoped she could harm him, even a little. But a single finger was enough to bring her down.
"I-I give up." She de-transformed, her breath rough and heavy. She looked as if she had seen the end of the world, and honestly, for her, it could have been.
"Well, now that I’ve made an appearance, can I go now?" Kai asked Celeste.
"Wait! Sir Kai."
"Kai, please don’t leave!"
"Can I ask you a question?"
’Ughh! Rat bastards!’ Kai sucked up his pride and held out until everything finished.
