Chapter 269: A Farewell, Forever

Chapter 269: Chapter 269: A Farewell, Forever

Not long after falling asleep, a strange smell wafted from outside the room, like something burning.

Summer Sutton was sleeping drowsily, thinking it was a dream, and didn’t pay attention.

But soon enough, the smell grew stronger.

Summer had always been a light sleeper, and she immediately woke up.

Her eyes opened, and she sprang up from the bed. When she pulled open the door to look outside, the corridor was already filled with thick smoke.

The hotel is on fire!

The hotel where Summer Sutton and Ariella Sawyer were staying was arranged by the filming crew to save costs on shooting the advertisement. The hotel was quite ordinary, with substandard facilities, and many of the essential safety measures were broken.

The fire was blazing both in front and at the back of Summer’s room, but when she opened the door, the fire wasn’t too intense from one direction.

Summer could have gone downstairs.

But as she was about to step forward, she thought of how much Ariella drank tonight, and her heart sank.

Ariella’s room was right next to hers, and the door was tightly closed, indicating she was still inside.

Perhaps, she was still asleep.

Summer’s heart tightened and she started banging on Ariella’s door.

"Ariella, wake up! There’s a fire, don’t keep sleeping!"

"Ariella! Open the door! Open the door!"

"Ariella, can you hear my voice? Ariella!"

Summer tried knocking numerous times, but there was no response from inside.

She tried calling Ariella’s phone, but no one answered.

With no other options, Summer called the hotel front desk to explain the situation and continued to pound on the door.

"Ariella, if you don’t come out now, soon it will be impossible to get out!"

"Ariella, wake up! Wake up!"

Her calls sounded continuously, but there was still no response from inside.

Before sleeping, Summer had shut Ariella’s windows tightly to prevent her from catching a chill.

Now with the sudden fire, even if it didn’t burn inside, it could stifle someone.

"Ariella!" Summer didn’t know Ariella’s current situation and pounded the door harder.

The fire gradually spread in her direction, and the route she could have taken to get out was becoming engulfed in flames.

Summer’s gaze stiffened as she looked toward the exit, seeing the growing flames, and her heart skipped.

Smoke in the corridor grew denser, obscuring her vision.

The hotel’s rescue team hadn’t arrived yet, either because the fire was too intense to enter, or due to inefficiency.

Summer stared blankly at the raging flames.

If she took a chance and dashed out, there might be a chance to survive.

But if she left, what would happen to Ariella?

Given the hotel’s efficiency, waiting for them was risking their lives!

Summer struggled for a long time, thinking about Ariella, restraining the impulse to rush downstairs, and continued to call out to her.

Summer could only hope that maybe if she shouted a few more times, Ariella would wake up?

However, after lingering outside for a while longer, Ariella did not wake up, and Summer’s breathing became increasingly difficult.

Summer slowly felt herself weakening, her consciousness blurring.

Afraid she might not survive this night, at that moment, for reasons even she didn’t understand, she suddenly dialed Adrian Walyon.

At this hour, it was already late where she was, and upon receiving her call, Adrian’s heart tightened.

He pressed the answer button, and Summer’s voice immediately came through.

"Adrian, I might not be able to return to the country..." her voice carried a hint of sobbing, as if coming from a distant world.
