Chapter 313: Chapter 315: Completely Lost Interest in Her
Seeing Sophie, who looked like a bristling little beast, Thomas Shannon furrowed his eyebrows slightly. "Didn’t Old Mr. Standford say you should observe dietary restrictions? Have you forgotten?"
A second ago, Sophie Sullivan had been full of arrogance. The next second, she deflated like a punctured balloon.
Dietary restrictions... They were, without a doubt, the cruelest thing ever. Gourmet food was right in front of her, yet she couldn’t eat it. Sophie finally understood what it meant to be tormented while alive. She was experiencing it right now. It was pure torture.
The lustrous, thick white porridge in the small bowl had been specially prepared for her by the Chief Chef.
Sophie held the small bowl, resentfully spooning the porridge into her mouth.
The man next to her was indulging in rich and spicy food. The stark contrast... Sophie covered her face, not wanting to say anything at all.
After dinner, Thomas Shannon didn’t stay long and soon left.
The room became empty again. Sophie turned on the television, and a boring variety show was playing.
The hosts were laughing awkwardly, but in Sophie’s eyes, there was nothing funny about it at all. She couldn’t understand what they found so hilarious. It was just embarrassing to watch.
Sophie turned off the television and went to take a bath in the bath chamber.
In the bath chamber, she inevitably saw her own face again—it was too awful to look at! No wonder Thomas didn’t want to stay long. He probably lost all interest the moment he saw this pig-like face.
"Fluffy, did you take in what your mother said?" Mrs. Zane pushed open Fluffy Zane’s bedroom door. Standing in the doorway, she looked at Fluffy Zane, who was lying on the chaise lounge with a face mask on, watching a movie.
Fluffy Zane thought for a moment and asked, "What was that?"
She really couldn’t remember what Mrs. Zane had told her. Lately, she’d been particularly forgetful and always misplacing things. Fluffy Zane couldn’t help but wonder if there was something wrong with her brain.
Mrs. Zane sighed, walked in, picked up the remote control, and turned off the television.
"I told you last time that the youngest son of the Jones Family has returned from overseas. Your dad and I both think very highly of him. How about you find some time to meet him and get to know each other?"
"Which youngest son of the Jones Family?"
"Your Uncle Jones’s youngest son, Jim Jones. You used to play with him when you were little. Don’t you remember?"
Mrs. Zane tried to evoke Fluffy Zane’s childhood memories, but Fluffy Zane just gave a noncommittal "Oh."
Mrs. Zane stood up. "I’ve already arranged it. Tomorrow night, you’ll have dinner with Jim Jones and then see a movie. Don’t young people love watching movies? I’ve already had someone buy the movie tickets. Remember to dress up nicely tomorrow, and don’t miss this appointment. Got it?"
"Understood."
So, it was basically a blind date.
Fluffy Zane wasn’t some naive child. In the business world, alliances through marriage between powerful families were common.
Obviously, her parents already had their preferred candidate in mind.
It’s just one meal, right? She could just go.
The next day, at six o’clock in the evening, Fluffy Zane applied light makeup and put on a light pink knitted dress. The dress was very form-fitting, perfectly outlining her exquisite figure.
Her long hair was styled in large, voluminous curls that cascaded languidly to her waistline.
She picked up her car keys and headed out. "Mum, I’m off to my appointment."
Mrs. Zane saw the car keys in her hand and immediately stopped her. "Fluffy, come back!"
"What’s the matter?"
Fluffy Zane didn’t understand. She had already agreed to go to the appointment; could there still be a problem?
"Fluffy, don’t drive yourself. Let the driver take you."
