Chapter 321: Chapter 323: I’ll Wait for You in the Hotel
Sophie Sullivan yawned gracefully, raising her hand to poke Thomas Shannon’s handsome face.
Her fingertip touched his sexy thin lips, gently caressing them.
Suddenly, her index finger was bitten.
Thomas Shannon slowly opened his eyes, his dark eyes like a cold, deep pool.
Sophie pouted. "Let me go."
Thomas Shannon bit her finger lightly before releasing it. Sophie withdrew her hand. She glared at him as she tenderly touched the finger bearing the tooth mark.
Glancing at the time, Thomas Shannon got up. He started slowly fastening the buttons on his shirt and casually instructed, "Rest well. I have to leave for a few days. Behave yourself, and don’t get into trouble."
He’s leaving?
Sophie couldn’t sit still. She immediately got up and reached out to grab his sleeve. "Where are you going?"
"On a business trip."
He answered with those two concise words, clearly not wanting to elaborate.
Sophie stubbornly held onto his sleeve, unwilling to let go. What would she do if he left now?
Let’s not forget, in the manor, there were still the watchful Amelia Shaw and Minimus Hart.
Who knew what despicable things they would do to her once he left?
"What’s wrong?" Thomas Shannon looked down at Sophie, who rarely showed her vulnerable side, now pitifully clutching his sleeve.
His thin lips curved into a faint smile, and his eyebrow tips lifted slightly. "Have you something to say?"
Sophie grumbled inwardly. Wasn’t he asking the obvious?
If she had nothing to say, why would she be clinging to his sleeve like this?
"Thomas Shannon, can I go with you on your business trip?"
If it were before, Thomas Shannon wouldn’t have hesitated. But now, her face had just undergone surgery, and she needed to recuperate.
Moreover, this wasn’t an ordinary business trip.
He had important matters to attend to.
"No."
Thomas Shannon refused outright without a second thought.
No?
Sophie’s eyes widened. "Why not? I want a reason that can convince me."
"Hah, you want a reason?" Thomas Shannon pried her fingers from his sleeve. "Do I need to give you a reason for what I do?"
Though her hand was pried away, Sophie wasn’t discouraged. She reached out again, this time with both hands, tightly gripping his sleeve. "If you can’t give me a satisfactory reason, then I’m going with you on your business trip!"
"Nonsense!"
With a low reprimand, the expression in Thomas Shannon’s eyes turned cold.
"How am I being nonsensical? I’ve been on business trips with you before. Why not this time?"
Sophie stood up, tilting her head back slightly, her beautiful eyes looking at him with determination. "I get it. You must find me ugly, right?"
Is he not taking me because he thinks I’m ugly now?
"You’re quite self-aware," he replied.
Sophie: "..."
So, it all came down to him thinking she was ugly!
How outrageous!
"I don’t care! Even if you find me ugly, I’m still going with you. At worst... when you’re in office, I’ll just wait for you at the hotel," Sophie said. She looked as if she had already made a huge concession and he should be content and not argue further.
"No. It’s not suitable for you to come."
"Not suitable?" Sophie carefully pondered his words. Suddenly, realization dawned on her. "Are you planning to go out and fool around with other women?"
Instantly, Sophie let go of his sleeve and quickly stepped back a few paces.
She looked at him as if he were carrying some contagious virus.
Her disgust was palpable.
Sophie pursed her lips, her expression serious. "Thomas Shannon, let me tell you..."
