Chapter 715: Chapter 717 I’m Sorry to You
"Ji Ying, I’m so happy," slurred Xu Qinghe, grasping Ji Ying’s hand, repeatedly saying, "I’m happy, I really am happy today."
"Okay, okay, I know you’re happy," Ji Ying said, smelling the alcohol on him and instinctively stepping back, looking at Xu Nianhua and the others, "Your dad’s really happy today. On the moving day, he kept saying how nice it would be if you siblings were home."
"Today’s reunion is just the same," Xu Nianhua took a sip of chicken soup, smacking his lips involuntarily, "Mom, the chicken soup is the best at home, and these dishes too. It always feels like I can’t get anything like this in Ningbei."
Today, Xu Nianhua ate two heaping bowls of rice and was still reluctant to put down his chopsticks.
"That’s true, the food at school is just not that tasty, and the flavor in Ningbei is different from home," Ji Ying had visited Ningbei as well and knew the taste there was different. In those two days in Ningbei, she found it hard to enjoy any meal. If not for seeing Nian’an and Nianhua, she couldn’t have stayed even for a day.
"It is a bit different," Xu Nianhua drank the last mouthful of soup contentedly and decided to stop eating; if she continued, her stomach would burst.
"Mom, dad, and my older and second brothers are really happy today. I reckon they’re all drunk," whispered Xu Nianhua to Ji Ying, while playing with Xu Yue in Zhou He’s arms. Xu Yue, half a year old, was well-nourished and chubby, with big bright black eyes like glossy grapes, strikingly beautiful.
Even when he couldn’t talk yet, if you played with him, he would make ’eeh eeh ah ah’ noises, almost as if he were responding to you.
"Little Yueyue, auntie came back in a rush this time. Next time, is it okay if I bring toys for Little Yueyue?" Xu Nianhua’s hand couldn’t stop stroking Xu Yue, the child’s skin so tender, she couldn’t get enough.
"Nianhua, the toys you brought back last time are still being played with," Zhou He lifted the toy drum in Xu Yue’s hand, adding, "Zhuangzhuang, thank your auntie for the toy."
’Yah yah’
Xu Yue shook the little drum in his hands, laughing with his mouth open at the ’dong dong’ sound, instantly melting Xu Nianhua’s heart.
"Auntie carry?" Xu Nianhua reached out, wanting to hold him.
Xu Yue raised his arms, lunging into her embrace.
Xu Nianhua carefully held Xu Yue, his soft body stirring a novel sensation in her. Last year when she came home, Xu Yue was still small, and she had only touched the child’s cheek, not daring to hold him. If it weren’t for him having grown a bit this year, she wouldn’t have dared to reach out her hands.
"It’s okay, he’s easy to hold," Zhou He demonstrated how to hold him, seeing how gingerly Xu Nianhua was handling him.
Ji Ying pushed away Xu Qinghe’s hand before replying to Xu Nianhua, "It’s okay if they’re drunk, they will feel better after a sleep. It’s rare for them to be so happy."
"Our Zhuangzhuang is a good boy, aren’t you?" Ji Ying affectionately took Xu Yue’s hand, and he smiled at her, beaming.
Xu Nianhua burst into hearty laughter.
After dinner, Xu Qinghe, Xu Nianji, and Xu Nian’an, the father and two sons, were all drunk.
"I’m not drunk, I can drink more," Xu Nian’an kept clamoring to drink on.
Xu Nianji was the quietest, finished drinking, went back to his room, and fell straight to sleep.
"Ji Ying, I’m sorry to you, sorry to the kids," Xu Qinghe held Ji Ying’s hand and repeated these few sentences over and over again.
