Chapter 1767: 1767: You Can't Be Worse Than Your Son

Chapter 1767: Chapter 1767: You Can’t Be Worse Than Your Son

(Chapter 5)

Luo Xusheng wore a wry smile: “If the three of us go to meet them, they might misunderstand and think we’re asking something from the Ling Family.”

“What’s wrong with asking?” Luo Ziling sneered at Luo Xusheng, “As long as things get done, what’s wrong with thick-skinned requests? A few days ago, Grandpa went to scold Old Mr. Ling, and they weren’t angry; instead, they got scared and agreed to let you return. As the saying goes, a crying child gets milk. If we don’t say anything, many things won’t fall to us.”

Luo Xusheng was still not convinced by Luo Ziling, only saying, “Let’s discuss it with your grandpa and your mom before deciding.”

Then, Luo Xusheng asked about Luo Ziling’s travels before and after, feeling proud of Luo Ziling’s performance.

“It’s all thanks to Grandpa’s education. Without his guidance, I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Luo Ziling showed a face of pride.

Hearing this, Luo Xusheng was stunned for a moment and then looked guilty.

However, he couldn’t bring himself to apologize and finally squeezed out a sentence, “Over the years, it’s been hard on your grandpa.”

Luo Ziling couldn’t hold back his resentment, “Since you haven’t taken care of me since I was young, let me continue to make my own decisions in life. Whom I want to marry and what I want to do in the future, don’t interfere. Let me decide for myself, okay?”

Luo Xusheng didn’t expect Luo Ziling to make such a request suddenly and was dumbfounded there.

After some thought, he finally agreed, “As long as your mom agrees, I have no objections.”

“If my mom disagrees, just persuade her. Anyway, you’re most aware of the tragedy of marriages dictated by parents.”

So, once again, Luo Xusheng was choked by Luo Ziling’s words and didn’t know what to say.

At this moment, Luo Ziling’s phone rang. Seeing it was Ling Ruonan calling, he quickly picked up the call.

“When are you coming home?” Ling Ruonan’s voice sounded a bit anxious, “It’s almost nine o’clock, and you’re still not back?”

“I’m having a late-night snack with my dad.”

“What?” On the other end of the line, Ling Ruonan was obviously shocked.

“Your husband returned and intercepted me halfway, insisting on treating me to a late-night snack. I couldn’t refuse the kind offer.” Luo Ziling said seriously as he joked. “Do you want to come and have a bite too?”

“Where are you?” Ling Ruonan finally came back to her senses, and her tone was no longer as calm as before.

“We’re about to finish and head back.”

After a moment of silence, Ling Ruonan replied, “Alright! Then I’ll wait for you at home.”

“Let’s go,” Luo Ziling said as he stood up, “Your wife is waiting for you at home; don’t keep her waiting too long.”

Luo Xusheng looked a bit awkwardly at Luo Ziling but said nothing in the end.

Luo Ziling went to settle the bill, and while paying, he looked down on his dad. Having a late-night snack and still letting him foot the bill, not having the awareness of a father at all.

Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun were waiting outside. As soon as they saw the two come out, they immediately came forward.

“Let’s go home.” Luo Ziling simply instructed, then took the lead heading towards the parking area.

After a brief exchange with Luo Xusheng, Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun didn’t say anything more.

On the road, Luo Xusheng and Luo Ziling didn’t talk, and both remained silent.

Usually quite talkative, Wang Zhenjun had nothing to say either.

Fortunately, the car quickly drove into the villa where Ling Ruonan lived.

Hearing a car driving in, Ling Ruonan opened the door and came out.

Luo Xusheng hurried to push open the door and got out of the car before Luo Ziling.

Seeing Ling Ruonan coming out to greet them, Luo Xusheng suddenly appeared awkward and finally forced a smile, “I just arrived tonight and had a night snack with Ling’er.”

“Come in, I’ve prepared tea and snacks for you,” Ling Ruonan gently said as she tidied the tousled hair on her forehead, “Dad is waiting for you.”

“You’re so distant, not like a couple at all,” standing behind, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but mock them, “It seems that if you live together, you’ll still need some time to adjust.”

Luo Xusheng turned back and glared at Luo Ziling, but Luo Ziling didn’t mind, giggling then he went inside first.

Luo Liansheng was sitting in the living room watching TV. When Luo Ziling came in, he only turned his head to look and didn’t get up.

“Grandpa, I’m back,” Luo Ziling cheerfully sat next to Luo Liansheng, then curiously asked, “Where’s Yuqing?”

“She didn’t come today.” Luo Liansheng turned his head to look again, and this time Luo Xusheng and Ling Ruonan came in together.

“Dad,” Luo Xusheng stood in front of Luo Liansheng with a bashful look, not standing as straight as before, “I just arrived a little while ago, and thought it wouldn’t be good to let others know, so I didn’t notify you.”

“Sit down and talk,” Luo Xusheng without much emotion instructed, “A lot has happened recently. It’s a good thing you returned, so we can discuss some issues face to face.”

Luo Xusheng agreed and sat down opposite Luo Liansheng.

Seeing Luo Xusheng’s obedient demeanor in front of Luo Liansheng, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but want to laugh.

Ling Ruonan also sat down next to Luo Xusheng. After sitting down, she softly asked Luo Xusheng, “Did you have dinner?”

“No, just had a late-night snack, I’m not hungry anymore,” Luo Xusheng turned his head to look at the gentle-faced Ling Ruonan, then smiled honestly and said to Luo Liansheng, “Dad, are you comfortable living here?”

“Your daughter-in-law treats me very well, so I shamelessly stayed here,” Luo Liansheng responded.

“Dad, how can you say that? This is our home; you can always live here,” Ling Ruonan said earnestly, “With you living here, Ling’er and I are very happy. Before, with you not around, I felt lonely every day.”

“If my dad returns and we’re not around, you won’t feel lonely either,” Luo Ziling couldn’t help but joke.

Ling Ruonan’s face suddenly turned red, and she glared sharply at Luo Ziling.

“It’s late today. Tomorrow, the three of us will go to meet the two heads of the Ling Family,” Luo Liansheng directly gave instructions, “We should talk to them face to face to avoid more troubles. Ling’er performed well during this overseas trip, and they are willing to reward him. His request is to let you return to the Capital for a family reunion, and they agreed.”

“Alright,” with such instructions from Luo Liansheng, Luo Xusheng could not refuse and had to agree. But after agreeing, he expressed his concern, “I’m worried that doing this will make them more wary of us.”

“Visit them a few more times, chat with them more, and it will be easier to build rapport. If they forget what you look like, they won’t care about you. In these aspects, you’re really not as good as Ling’er. You, as a father, are completely irresponsible.” Luo Liansheng, while speaking, patted Luo Ziling’s arm, “Fortunately, Ling’er performed well, or many things would indeed be quite tricky.”

Then, he said to Luo Xusheng: “You are able to return to Yanjing thanks to your son’s excellent performance. His outstanding performance made others look at our Luo Family in a new light. As a father, you cannot be inferior to your son, right? So, you must perform well next. Your son can stir up excitement in Yanjing, Tokyo, and Seoul; you can do even more!”

“…” Luo Liansheng’s words surprised Luo Xusheng.
