Chapter 1779: Chapter 1779: A Bit Awkward
But what disappointed Luo Ziling was that his skillful father didn’t take action personally, and two of his subordinates stepped in instead.
At a congested traffic light, Wang Zhenjun switched places with Luo Xusheng, and Luo Xusheng became the driver of Luo Ziling’s car. Wang Zhenjun and Yang Xiaodong got into another car, covering the rear.
With this arrangement, Luo Ziling knew he wouldn’t be able to witness any exciting drama.
With Wang Zhenjun and Yang Xiaodong on the job, there’s basically nothing they can’t handle.
“Why aren’t you showing off a bit?” Luo Ziling asked Luo Xusheng with a smile while he was driving.
“There’s no need,” Luo Xusheng replied flatly, “If those two can’t handle it, then it’s not a simple matter.”
“I was hoping to see your skills,” Luo Ziling chuckled.
Luo Xusheng didn’t answer.
After Yang Xiaodong and Wang Zhenjun covered the rear, the tracking vehicles disappeared.
Luo Xusheng didn’t concern himself with it any further and took Luo Ziling directly to Dragon Rise Rehabilitation Center.
Li Haiyang and Phoenix, along with Lin Lan, were all at Dragon Rise’s rehabilitation center today, so they didn’t have to go further to the Dragon Rise base, just to the relatively closer rehabilitation center.
As they were about to reach the rehab center, Luo Ziling called Lin Lan, asking her to meet them at the entrance.
Dragon Rise’s rehabilitation center is also a military restricted area, without someone inside to receive them, they wouldn’t have a chance to get in, even though Luo Ziling often visits.
Lin Lan naturally agreed, and when Luo Ziling and the others arrived at the entrance of the rehabilitation center, she was already waiting there.
The car drove directly into the rehabilitation center.
Lin Lan greeted them at the car, and when Luo Xusheng got out, she saluted him.
Luo Xusheng returned the salute and took a good look at Lin Lan.
“Why so formal, you’re not in uniform,” Luo Ziling joked with Lin Lan, “How’s your injury doing?”
When he last visited, Lin Lan could already move freely, but when Luo Ziling met her, he still wanted to know how she was after two days. In front of Luo Xusheng, Luo Ziling expressed special concern for her, making Lin Lan a bit uneasy.
She also sensed from Luo Xusheng’s gaze that Luo Ziling’s father had a different attitude towards her.
Her relationship with Luo Ziling couldn’t be made public, making Lin Lan feel quite down.
Even worse, this guy remorselessly showing such concern for her in front of Luo Xusheng.
“Much better, thank you.” Lin Lan, although a bit uneasy inside, maintained her usual demeanor and thanked Luo Ziling.
“Where’s your superior?”
“Waiting for you inside, come with me,” Lin Lan said, turning sharply and striding forward.
“Colonel, let’s go,” Luo Ziling gestured to Luo Xusheng, fearing he might ask him something.
Luo Xusheng glared at Luo Ziling but didn’t express anything in particular, striding behind Lin Lan.
Soon they arrived at the building where Li Haiyang stayed.
After Lin Lan called out a report, Phoenix came over to open the door.
Today, Phoenix was dressed in full camouflage, carrying military rank insignia.
Seeing the two-bar three-star colonel insignia on Phoenix’s shoulders, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but be a bit envious.
Such a young woman had actually risen to the rank of colonel.
Luo Xusheng was much older than Phoenix, but he was only a senior colonel, just one rank above her.
It seemed that Phoenix was more formidable than Luo Xusheng, at least in terms of position and rank.
Luo Ziling was a bit worried that the proud Phoenix might not be willing to submit to Luo Xusheng’s command.
If such a problem really arose when Luo Xusheng came over, it could be a bit troublesome.
Luo Ziling and Lin Lan followed behind Luo Xusheng as he went inside.
Upon entering, Luo Xusheng was already facing Li Haiyang and saluting.
Although Li Haiyang wasn’t in uniform, he saluted back and invited Luo Xusheng to sit down.
Luo Ziling greeted warmly with a smile but didn’t plan to sit down.
“Sir, I’ve brought my dad over. You can have a good chat; I’ll go outside for a walk,” Luo Ziling said, gesturing for Lin Lan to leave with him.
“Alright, suit yourself then,” Li Haiyang agreed, smiling without any surprise.
Lin Lan was a bit surprised, but after glancing at Li Haiyang and seeing no particular expression, she still followed Luo Ziling out.
“Why not stay inside for a while?” After leaving Li Haiyang’s room, Lin Lan asked curiously, “With you around, things are easier to discuss.”
“They’re leaders discussing matters, we small folks shouldn’t get involved,” Luo Ziling chuckled, “While they’re chatting, I’ll treat you again to save time later.”
“Alright then,” Lin Lan thought for a moment and eventually didn’t refuse.
On the way to where Lin Lan stayed, Luo Ziling called Yang Xiaodong to inquire about the situation.
“All sorted,” Yang Xiaodong replied calmly, “The moment they saw us intercept, they immediately fled. But they can’t escape, once things are done, we’ll go check who exactly was tailing us.”
Luo Ziling understood that those tracking them were likely intercepted or even captured by someone else, and he was relieved, not asking Yang Xiaodong more, he hung up the phone.
Lin Lan curiously asked Luo Ziling, “Was someone following us on the road?”
“Smart!”
“Hmph!” Lin Lan rolled her eyes.
“Don’t you realize your personality has completely changed? You never used to ask me stuff like this, or be so curious.”
Lin Lan kicked Luo Ziling, saying resentfully, “Then I won’t care about anything that concerns you.”
“Don’t,” Luo Ziling caught Lin Lan’s kicking leg and caressed her thigh. As Lin Lan shivered, he chuckled, “I still like seeing you act like an ordinary girl. At least in front of me, be that way. Don’t always try to act cool — I hate it when women act cool in front of me.”
“You’re so annoying,” Lin Lan pulled her leg free, her cheeks reddened as she scolded Luo Ziling, “Aren’t you afraid your dad will notice something strange?”
“He’s not that emotionally intelligent, just a silent type. He probably regards you differently after my mom told him about you. With me here, he wouldn’t dare bully you.”
Lin Lan burst into laughter, “But you’re no match for him.”
“He wouldn’t dare beat me to death.”
“Let’s stop bickering, quickly help me with the treatment. They probably won’t chat for too long,” Lin Lan said as she began removing her clothes.
Although she had already bared it all in front of Luo Ziling many times, and the two had that kind of relationship, Lin Lan still turned her back while removing her undergarments.
Seeing her like this, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but feel playful and, walking behind her, wrapped his arms around her waist. Lin Lan’s body trembled, but she only symbolically struggled before allowing Luo Ziling to have his way.
