Chapter 182: Chapter 181: Friends and Family
"Xiao Wan, Mom will take some back tonight, and try selling them at the morning market tomorrow," Liang Hongmei said as she looked at the several sacks of fruit in the shop, worried.
"Sure, Mom. You can slice them into pieces and sell them piece by piece, or cut them into three pieces vertically and sell one for fifty cents or two for one yuan, while three pieces cost five yuan," Lin Wan thought of how pineapples are sold in the future and decided to use it as a reference.
"Xiao Wan, this method is good. I’ll try selling them tomorrow," Liang Hongmei said, then asked Xiao Gu to help move a table outside, placing a basin with some light salt water on it, and started peeling a few pineapples to attract people.
Pineapples are tasty, but peeling them is a hassle. The brother back home didn’t bring a pineapple cutter; there’s none for sale here.
Before Lin Wan could gather her thoughts, Yin Peibai arrived, followed by her fiancé Zhang Hanfu.
Zhang Hanfu works at the inspection institute, having transferred there last year to intern; currently, he is just an ordinary staff member.
"Little Yin, Mr. Zhang, you’ve arrived. Come on in."
"Xiao Wan, I still want to eat hot pot," Yin Peibai said while drooling as she looked at the packed tables in the shop, holding Lin Wan’s hand.
Lin Wan smiled and led them to a private room on the first floor, "I’ll have them prepare a table first, but you must eat the rice noodles today, don’t embarrass me."
"Don’t worry, I can finish them," Yin Peibai waved her hand for Lin Wan to hurry and prepare.
Zhang Hanfu shook his head helplessly, "Are you sure you can finish it?"
Yin Peibai glanced at him, "I can."
"Alright, alright, eat as much as you want."
Lin Wan watched Zhang Hanfu’s affection for Yin Peibai, feeling a bit sour inside, missing Han Yi.
Lin Wan entered the kitchen and asked Aunt Gui to prepare a small yuanyang pot to serve. Knowing Yin Peibai’s strong taste preferences, she made two servings of clay pot rice noodles in the kitchen, adding some seaweed, tofu skin, and bamboo shoots.
"Hmm, these rice noodles are quite similar to vermicelli, taste great. It’s unexpected that they can be eaten like noodles. But I don’t know how to make the soup," Yin Peibai found the rice noodles tasted good and thought she could make them at home.
"It’s quite simple, boil the rice noodles, add some fermented soybean chili paste... and finally drizzle with some chili oil."
"So simple?"
"Yes."
"Make some for me. I’ll have my mom make them every day when I go back. By the way, Hanfu is here to buy your fruits today."
"I’m very grateful to you guys. I’ll prepare some for you to take home later. I haven’t sold much yet, but this will almost sell out."
"Little Yin said they’re delicious, but I haven’t tried them, so I came to buy something fresh," Zhang Hanfu explained with a smile.
"You guys enjoy the food first, I’ll go get some for you to taste," Lin Wan said, and ran out excitedly.
Zhang Hanfu turned to Yin Peibai and asked, "Is this classmate really married? She doesn’t seem like it at all."
Yin Peibai pretended to be angry, "Zhang Hanfu, what do you mean? Are you interested in her?"
Zhang Hanfu was surprised, quickly shook his head, and seeing no one at the door, quickly grabbed Yin Peibai’s hand and said, "Little Yin, you know, you are the only one in my eyes. I was only casually asking since she seemed careless."
"Hmph, Xiao Wan isn’t careless," Yin Peibai, with her hand held by Zhang Hanfu, glared at him both shyly and angrily, gently shook their clasped hands, unsure whether wanting to shake off or not, yet their hands hadn’t separated since Lin Wan entered.
"Alright, alright, your classmate is the best."
