Chapter 203: Chapter 202: All right, Untitled (Naming is hard)
Lin Wan noticed that Sun Yu was wrapped tightly in a scarf, clearly trembling. Just as Lin Wan was about to express her concern, she remembered how Sun Yu had acted when they arrived. So she held back and pretended not to see.
The evening event ended at nine thirty, and Pidan had already fallen asleep in Sister-in-law Zhang’s arms.
The women didn’t wait for the men and went straight home. The first thing the military wives did upon returning home was to heat up the kang bed-stove. Lin Wan didn’t feel sleepy, so she sat by the stove, adding firewood while knitting a sweater.
By the time she had the kang warm and cozy, Han Yi had come home.
Lin Wan told Han Yi about Mr. Mei and Aunt Liang. Han Yi chuckled and said, "I was on the battlefield with Mr. Mei, saved his life there, and we both got injured and returned together. It was him who transferred me here."
"Was the injury serious?" Lin Wan knew that the scars of various sizes on Han Yi’s body were all from battlefield injuries, especially the most noticeable one on his abdomen.
"It’s all in the past, aren’t I fine now?" Han Yi didn’t answer directly, took the yarn from her hands, and motioned for her to go to bed.
"Is coming here considered a promotion?" Lin Wan asked curiously.
"Sort of."
"What do you mean by sort of?" Lin Wan shot him a glance but understood that military affairs sometimes had to be kept confidential—even between close ones. "Mr. Mei’s surname is also Mei."
Lin Wan asked instinctively.
Han Yi paused, then sighed, "Mr. Mei’s full name is Mei Shuqing; he is Mei Shuping’s younger brother."
"Oh..." So that’s how it is.
When Han Yi first knew, he wasn’t as surprised as Lin Wan. He understood that Mei Shuqing and Mei Shuping were different, "Mr. Mei is a good person," suggesting it’s good to befriend him.
"He doesn’t know about your background, right?"
"No, Mei Shuqing probably feels ashamed to tell his family."
The next day, Lin Wan woke up naturally and discovered Han Yi was still there when she turned over.
"Huh, aren’t you going to the team today?"
Han Yi didn’t know when he had awoken; his eyes were clear as he flipped through the book Lin Wan had brought. Seeing Lin Wan awake, he put down the book, turned over, and pinned Lin Wan beneath him. "I’m off today; I heated the kang, and the snow is too deep for us to go out. How about we stay in bed today?"
"Isn’t staying in bed boring?" Lin Wan gave him a little push.
Han Yi chuckled twice, "Very interesting. The early bird gets the worm; come on, we shouldn’t waste it."
Just as they were about to dive into the moment, an untimely knock on the door interrupted them.
The knocking got louder each time, yet Han Yi still showed no sign of getting up.
Lin Wan nudged him, "Someone’s knocking."
Han Yi impatiently shouted, "Who is it?"
"Han Yi, it’s me, Yang Wei."
"Coming," Han Yi sighed with a hint of frustration, quickly got dressed, and went to open the door for Yang Wei.
He returned shortly afterward.
"What’s up?"
"His wife has a stomachache and wanted to borrow some red sugar."
Lin Wan uttered an "Oh," understanding what was going on, and continued getting dressed.
"Why get dressed? Let’s continue," Han Yi said as he kicked off his shoes and climbed back onto the bed.
