Chapter 347: Chapter 346: A Different Captain Han
"What’s Old Huang’s plan upstairs? Isn’t it an ambush? How did he get a bunch of wild boars down here?" As soon as Qin Hongbing spoke, a loud voice sounded from a distance.
"Damn it, I’m here, aren’t I?"
Huang Lianzhang—oh no, Deputy Captain Huang—was looking furious. "We had planned to first bring down a few wild boars to expose your movements. Then, we’d launch a surprise attack. Who knew you’d set the location here?"
"Hmph, we did it on purpose, knowing you’d pull some sneaky tricks. It’s perfect to use Captain Han as a decoy," Qin Hongbing continued.
"Stop trying to fool me, don’t give me any crap," Deputy Captain Huang glanced at the seven hefty wild boars.
Damn Han Yi, worthy of being the Cold Yama. We spent so much effort coaxing a wild boar down the mountain, and he managed to effortlessly handle it in just a few minutes, with his wife, the ’tag-along,’ no less. He sure made it look easy.
"I clearly saw just now, Han Yi didn’t flinch at all in front of his wife. He kept his cool, and his knife strike was steady, precise, and ruthless," Qin Hongbing was thoroughly convinced and incredibly impressed.
On this mission, during one drill after another, he could bet that not a single person could easily handle seven large wild boars in two minutes.
"Are we still breaking through?"
"Of course, we are breaking through. We still need to write a report when we get back."
"Prepare in five minutes, and break through within half an hour," Deputy Captain Huang ordered sharply. The two companies quickly got ready.
Even though there was a slip-up, the two companies were determined. They couldn’t let a handful of boars lure them into wrapping things up carelessly. They must remain steadfast, as it’s a matter of pride for the company.
Han Yi and Lin Wan stumbled back home after more than an hour.
After wandering in the mountains all day, they were now exhausted and sleepy.
Even so, Lin Wan still went to the kitchen to boil some water. The two of them washed up simply before heading to bed.
Lin Wan fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. Han Yi looked at her, feeling deeply sorry. It was all his fault this time. When borrowing equipment, he shouldn’t have bothered talking so much nonsense with Qin Hongbing.
When Lin Wan woke up the next day, it was already past ten. Han Yi had already emptied the chamber pot. Lin Wan freshened up briefly in the kitchen and then went out to the restroom.
On her way back, she encountered Wang Guihua by the outdoor water basin, washing clothes.
"Sister-in-law, you sure are blessed. You slept all the way until now. Your Captain Han was up early, already at the basin slaughtering a roe deer. That silly roe deer must weigh at least ten pounds. Tsk tsk... Captain Han really has a knack for hunting. He even caught a whole nest of rabbits." Wang Guihua couldn’t help but feel envious. She realized that Captain Han was not only talented in the military but also didn’t put on airs at home. He helped his wife with laundry, cooking, and everything else.
Unlike her husband, who did nothing when he came home, expecting her to serve him hand and foot.
Comparing people really can make one angry.
"Rabbits?" They didn’t catch any rabbits yesterday.
"Sure did, the kids in the yard are all holding them, saying they want to make a nest for them."
"Oh..."
When Lin Wan returned home, she indeed saw mushrooms drying on the ground in the courtyard and the roe deer hanging in the yard to air-dry. Even the wild rose bush was planted in the courtyard.
Lin Wan suddenly felt like she had become useless in front of Han Yi. But having someone willing to spoil her into uselessness was quite a pleasing thing.
Lin Wan’s good mood didn’t last long before the smell of animals wafted into her nose, causing her stomach to churn fiercely.
She hastily covered her nose and ran indoors, suddenly losing her appetite.
