Chapter 338: Chapter 337: Going for a Short Stay

"Mom, did you give the money to Brother Huang?"

Since the hot pot reopened, business hasn’t been great these past few days. It’s always like this every year at this time.

Once the weather cools down, business will pick up.

Around two in the afternoon, Brother Huang came over driving a tractor.

Besides two small jars, Lin Wan had some miscellaneous things. Liang Hongmei was worried that it might be hard to buy groceries over there, so she prepared a lot of vegetables and meat for her from the shop.

"Thank you, Brother Huang, for the trouble this time."

"No trouble at all, our village is close to the Jun District anyway, I’ll take you there directly."

"Thank you, Brother Huang." Along with Brother Huang was his nephew, who looked about fifteen or sixteen years old, and usually followed Brother Huang to deliver goods here.

The two helped Lin Wan load things onto the vehicle. After saying a word to Liang Hongmei, they left right away.

On the road, Lin Wan asked about the dog skin matter.

Brother Huang said that Old Man Zhang was running around a few villages to collect them, and tanning would take some time.

Lin Wan said no rush, just have him tan the skins well.

Around four o’clock, Lin Wan arrived at the army district.

The gatekeeper had changed and didn’t recognize Lin Wan. It took some questioning before they let Lin Wan in, and they had an officer accompany her inside.

The vehicle wasn’t allowed inside, so Brother Huang and his nephew helped move things to Lin Wan’s small courtyard.

The officer saw that Lin Wan had a key. People greeted her on the way, which reassured him to leave.

Lin Wan originally wanted to keep Brother Huang for tea before he left. Brother Huang said he feared his sister-in-law at home would worry if he returned late. He left right after dropping things off.

Lin Wan had no choice but to see them to the door, then return to sort the things she brought back.

Lin Wan checked the kitchen and found there were a few pounds of rice and flour, but no vegetables. She thought Han Yi probably didn’t cook for himself and ate at the team.

Lin Wan didn’t inform Han Yi of her arrival. She figured Han Yi might not come back for dinner, so she simply cooked some porridge for herself.

Then used the sweet wine lees her mom brought to knead a bowl of dough. While fermenting the dough, Lin Wan also added some rice wine residue.

At dinner time, Han Yi indeed didn’t come back. Lin Wan wasn’t surprised and didn’t go to Sister-in-law Zhang’s house. She leisurely sat in her room knitting a scarf, preparing to surprise Han Yi.

About an hour past dinner, when Han Yi returned home, he saw the house lock had been opened by someone.

The next second, he knew Lin Wan had come.

Originally sitting on the bed knitting a scarf to surprise Han Yi, Lin Wan was now lying on the bed asleep, still in the posture of knitting.

Han Yi, who had strode in, saw the sleeping Lin Wan, gently softened his steps, walked to her, and carefully took out the needles and yarn from her hands, adjusting her into a comfortable sleeping position.

Looking at his tranquil wife, Han Yi’s whole heart was melting.

Lin Wan slept till a little past three in the morning, opened her eyes to darkness, the person with an arm around her was indeed Han Yi.

Turning on the light and getting up to check the time, she realized she had slept quite long.

She thought she had been too busy lately, only falling asleep unconsciously from exhaustion.

The chamber pot was outside the door. Lin Wan went out and came back, Han Yi drowsily opened his eyes too.

"Had a good sleep?" He spread his arms, waiting for Lin Wan to fall into his embrace.

"Hmm." Lin Wan got on the bed, snuggling into his arms. "Why didn’t you wake me when you came back last night?"

"You looked so sweet sleeping, I couldn’t bring myself to wake you."

"Let’s sleep a bit more, it’ll be dawn soon."

"Oh..." After such a long sleep, Lin Wan wasn’t sleepy at all.
