Chapter 1180: Recognizing the Enemies
“!!!” Nathan widened his eyes in shock. “Aliens? The black cell?”
“Yes.” Johnson nodded. “According to the theory, this person was able to remove or move the black cell from the alien and place it on you.
“When it was placed on your familiar, it would corrode the fragment of summoning. However, because we were using them like a weapon, it would only corrode the weapon. In other words, the weapon would get even stronger without giving any side effects.”
Nathan looked down. ‘That might be possible. Don’t tell me, the people who infected the familiars or humans with aliens got this idea from them?
‘If it was their lifebound familiar, the black cell might corrode the lifebound link. However, on this continent, there is no such thing as the lifebound link. So, it won’t affect the summoner.
‘They can strengthen their tools by using the black cell. The separation of the black cell is possible. I have seen the research back on Gratzel, and it was research from a few hundred years ago.
‘It won’t be weird if someone is able to separate them on this continent after another three hundred years. Although the continent didn’t have a lot of researchers, there were bound to be one or two oddballs.
‘However, there’s something missing from this piece of information. If the lifebound familiar will be affected by the black cell, they can’t put it on their lifebound familiar.
‘But this contradicts the point that you can’t wield a fragment of summoning other than your lifebound familiar.
‘The emperor mentioned that they were using strange power to catch them off guard by not using the fragment of summoning but still were able to use their power…
‘If that’s the case, they have mastered both the lifebound familiar as well as the black cell… I can’t really figure this one out.’
After some thoughts, Nathan asked, “If they’re able to do that, does that mean they’re able to take advantage of the regenerative power of the black cell?”
“Yes.”
It confirmed his suspicion. There was one missing link that could explain their power. The fragment of summoning was an outside power, so it shouldn’t affect one’s regenerative power. Yet, for some reason, they can do it.
“Have you figured out their power?” Nathan asked.
“No. I have done my best, but I can only speculate. But if there’s any information about your method of summoning, I might be able to draw a better conclusion.”
Nathan thought for a moment. “If you can think of something, then…”
Nathan explained the lifebound familiar to him, which included the element. This idea would be spread by the emperor anyway, so he didn’t mind giving it to the grand duke for information.
After listening to Nathan’s explanation, the grand duke contemplated for a few minutes before reaching the same conclusion as Nathan. “Unfortunately, I still can’t figure it out. There is one contradiction. I’m afraid there is one missing link that I’m not aware of.”
“Looks like we reached the same conclusion. The lifebound link and the black cell are contradicting each other.”
“Indeed.” Johnson nodded. “In that case, I will try to figure out their power. But are you sure about sharing this information with me?”
“Of course. Since this knowledge will be spread later, it’s fine if it can help us against the Death Society. However, I’d like you to keep it a secret for the time being. After all, the emperor will be the one spreading this knowledge.”
“I understand.” Johnson acknowledged the warning. There was no way he would step over the emperor, especially since he was going to help with the Death Society.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to ask my next question.”
“Sure.”
“What are their strengths currently?”
“According to our information, they still have 15 members, including their leader. More importantly, 6 of them are at the Crystal Fusion Stage, while the rest are at the Crystal Armor Stage.
“However, please don’t forget about this. Even though they are at that stage, they are stronger than people of the same level because they also have your continent’s summoning method along with the black cell utilization.”
“Yes.” Nathan understood the danger. “I want to confirm one thing. If we figure out their power, especially the black cell…”
“I understand your concern, but the black cell is a part of aliens, our common enemies. It will be better to erase the information about it rather than let a second Death Society terrorize the world again.”
“Thank you.” Nathan felt relieved. If he were talking with a scientist, they might actually consider keeping this knowledge because it was an advancement of knowledge without caring about the impact it would have.
“Please take a look at this.” Once Nathan told him about their summoning method, Johnson’s expression softened. For the first time, he took the initiative to show something.
This time, Johnson brought out posters with every single member of the Death Society’s pictures on them.
“!!!” Nathan widened his eyes. “They are…”
“As you can see, they are the 15 members of the Death Society.”
Evelyn was surprised, but more importantly, her eyes were fixed on a certain poster. She placed her hand on it, fighting the urge to crush the poster.
It was a picture of a man who, although he looked young, was considered one of the most dangerous. The color of his hair had become blood red, but those hateful eyes and the sharp teeth were something she couldn’t forget.
He was the person who fought her back then.
Nathan glanced at her and asked, “Someone you recognize, Evelyn?”
Evelyn nodded.
“Is that the person who attacked you?”
“Yes.” Killing intent leaked out of her eyes as she stared at the person’s name. “Guanave Destruction.”
She then pointed to a few other pictures. The first one was a man with long black hair wearing black sunglasses. His name, or more like his nickname on the poster, is Soul Eater. “The person who killed Evelyn’s mentor.”
The second poster was of a woman with many stitches on her face. “The one who killed Jay Envien, Melissa’s lover. Spider.
“I recognized two more, but they focused on killing other academy’s students.” She pointed at the last two. “The rest… I couldn’t recognize them. I didn’t say they were not involved in that attack. I had no time to look around at that time.”
