Chapter 184: The Twins’ Wish

Chapter 184: The Twins’ Wish

The weekend rolled in without any huge events for Lola. For the past few days, things had been quite smooth with her almost-finished office, Cedrick’s preparation, and the garden renovation.

But today, Lola had prepared for something... big.

"Hehe. So cute." Lola giggled as she squatted down in front of the twins, whom she had dressed up in ‌comfortable outdoor clothes.

The twins grinned back at her, having been pampered the whole morning. When Lola had asked them if they wanted something some time ago, what they asked for was simple:

A family day out.

God knows how that moved Lola’s heart, as she felt slightly sorry for them. But since she had promised them, she had been preparing for this.

"Babies, wait for me in the family room, alright?" Lola encouraged. "I’ll just take a quick shower. It’ll be quick."

"Okay~!"

Having said that, the twins happily skipped out of the room while Lola watched them go. Her eyes softened, not even realizing that she hadn’t prepared herself, as she had been focused on taking care of them first.

"They’re so cute," she muttered, idling for a second until she saw the time. "Shit!"

Panicking, Lola scooped up the towel and ran to the bathroom to shower. It wasn’t like she was running out of time, but she knew everyone was waiting for her. So, she did as fast as she could and jumped into the walk-in closet.

"An amusement park date with the kids..." she trailed off, checking each piece of clothing. "I’ve never been to one before, so..." She didn’t know what to wear.

Still, she was also looking forward to it.

"Something comfortable," she murmured while scrolling through the clothes. As she did so, her face twitched with irritation. "That Slater... why did he put all these clothes in here? They’re not even mine."

The closet was full of new clothing, while some of her old clothes were missing. Most of the clothes looked too luxurious for her taste. It wasn’t a problem before, but now that she was hurrying, it did bother her.

Eventually, Lola chose the most comfortable pair she could find: loose pants and a loose black printed skull shirt. One of her disguise attire, but without any horrendous makeup, these clothes would be fine.

Lola quickly put it on, blow-dried her damp hair a little, and added a little sunscreen to protect her from the sun. Looking at herself in the mirror, she smiled.

"This is comfortable," she nodded to herself, and with that, she jogged outside.

As soon as Lola reached the living area where everyone was waiting, her steps halted.

"Father Sir, look at me! Isn’t this cute?" Chacha stood in front of Atlas, spinning very slowly to show off her dress. "Mommy chose this for me! It’s so pretty~! And she fixed my hair too!"

"Me too! Me too!" Second stood beside his sister, tugging at his polo shirt that was tucked in a bit. He smiled, his hair brushed neatly back, displaying his adorable facial features.

"Wow, Chacha, Second... you guys look so expensive!" Slater, who was standing next to his big brother’s seat, gave the children a thumbs-up.

And yet, even when his eyes were twinkling and giving them praise, Slater’s look didn’t fall behind. Donning a casual light blue blouse with three buttons unbuttoned, paired with white above-the-knee jeans and a white pair of sneakers.

Slater was already wearing sunglasses, holding a camera in one hand. His hair was styled in a deliberate, neat yet unruly look. A literal boy next door, and surely, he earned his place as the top one everyone voted as someone they would go for a theme park date with.

"Oh, right! Chacha, Second, stand right there! I’ll take a picture!" he intoned while the twins obediently stood before him.

"We want a picture with Father Sir!" they chimed, and quickly, they jumped to their father.

Lola’s eyes veered to Atlas, who was lazily seated on the couch. Her face twitched as she scanned him over there.

Unlike Slater’s boy-next-door attire, Atlas was wearing a fitted, short-sleeve hunter green polo with a gold undertone, paired with lighter colored trousers and casual suede shoes. He didn’t look that casual, but not too formal either—definitely classy—with a fedora hat resting at his side, as if he was planning to wear it later.

Lola watched those four from where she stood, her face contorting. All four of them looked... they all just looked too good! Just watching them from here already screamed old money.

And here she was...

"Oh, sis!" Slater perked up as he sensed a pair of eyes in their direction. His call made the twins and their father shift their eyes to where Lola was standing.

"That was quick!" he intoned. "Let’s go?"

Go?

Lola gulped and forced a smile at them. "Heh... heh..." she laughed awkwardly, raising a finger. "Give me... a minute."

Even before she could finish her sentence, Lola was already sprinting back to where she had come from. Meanwhile, Slater, Atlas, and the twins furrowed their brows as they stared at where she had disappeared. They cocked their heads to the side in sync, confusion plastered on their faces.

"Did Mommy forget something?" Chacha wondered, while Second was in awe. "Mommy looks so cool! I want to look cool just like her!"

Slater, on the other hand, shook his head. "To be honest? She has a really good sense of fashion. I am amazed!"

As for Atlas, he said nothing. However, he had to admit that Lola’s casual street-style clothing, with her slightly dry hair, suited her.

"She looks good for sure," he hummed.

But unlike them, Lola slammed the walk-in closet door and hurriedly checked the clothes in it to get changed.

How in the world could she go out with those four looking like this?!

She at least didn’t want to look like a maid! Or at least, someone who wouldn’t embarrass them. Hence, she spent time mixing and matching, changing from different outfits, with all of them giving her problems.

The ending? She ended up wearing the same outfit she had worn the first time.
