Tang Lie wins!
Shen Wushuang announced the result, sighing as he patted Tang Lie as if to comfort him.
Meanwhile, Xu Xingxing was jumping for joy, a smug grin plastered on his face as he boasted about his prowess to those around him.
The victor and the vanquished seemed to have completely swapped roles.
Tang Lie had won, yet not entirely.
Shen Wushuang spoke, "Now, I announce the top three positions: Chen Shu, Xu Xiaoyu, and Tang Lie!"
After nearly a full day, the competition was drawing to a close.
"The three of you, draw lots!"
Since the three were of equal strength, Shen Wushuang decided to settle it by drawing lots, as everyone coveted the bye.
"Push me up there!"
Wang Yun and his companion pushed Tang Lie forward to Shen Wushuang, who then handed him a paper slip.
He was the first to open his slip and grinned, "Mine's blank! It's blank!"
Chen Shu pouted and said, "What are you yelling about? This is what you call a bye!"
He then revealed his own paper slip, which clearly bore two large characters: Bye!
Tang Lie's lips twitched. So, a blank slip meant he had to fight.
"Xu Xiaoyu versus Tang Lie!"
Once again, two incredibly powerful A-class contract spirits.
The two were old rivals, having previously studied in Class 1 of Beast Taming, consistently occupying the first and second positions.
"Xiaoyu, to defeat Chen Shu, I must eliminate you first! Forgive me!"
Tang Lie put on a heartfelt expression, but it looked utterly comical.
Xu Xiaoyu, standing nearby, remained unmoved and summoned her Fiery Bird.
As if remembering something, Tang Lie's body trembled, and he immediately exclaimed, "Quick! Push me further away!"
Wang Yun and his companion promptly pushed Tang Lie to the far end of the competition stage.
He breathed a sigh of relief.
It would be a nightmare if he spontaneously combusted mid-fight.
Just in case, Tang Lie added, "You two, get some water ready, just in case!"
Chen Shu watched from the side and said, "Xiaoyu, go all out. It would be best if you both sustained injuries, and I'll handle the rest!"
Xu Xiaoyu was speechless. Wasn't his objective a little too obvious? Couldn't he just say to hand him the championship directly?
The battle between the Fiery Bird and the Wind-Strider immediately erupted!
One was a fire-element A-class contract spirit, the other a wind-element A-class contract spirit.
Neither the potential ratings nor the potion enhancements showed any significant disparity between them.
The battle began fiercely, but the crowd wasn't overly interested, engaging in hushed conversations.
The most captivating part of the competition was, naturally, the trio of Chen Shu, Xu Xingxing, and Tang Lie.
Whether it was Xie Sunan's divine green light skill, Xu Xingxing's mutated perverted bird, or Chen Shu's giant poop slime, they all evoked a sense of astonishing novelty.
The audience's aesthetic for battles had gradually been skewed.
Boom boom boom!
Just then, the Fiery Bird unleashed its skill.
It spat out fist-sized fireballs from its mouth, like a pea shooter.
Clearly, it was a new skill the Fiery Bird had mastered!
But the Wind-Strider was no pushover either, constantly dodging with its extraordinary speed. The combat between the two contract spirits was visually striking.
After ten minutes of intense fighting, Tang Lie ultimately emerged victorious by a slim margin.
It was worth noting that Xu Xiaoyu had always had the upper hand against Tang Lie, and her position as the top student had rarely wavered.
Chen Shu, however, was not surprised. Xu Xiaoyu had previously fought Wang Qinghan, and although she won, it had been an extremely draining battle, and she hadn't fully recovered in such a short time.
Tang Lie, on the other hand, had fought Xu Xingxing. While the Wind-Strider had suffered indelible psychological trauma, at least its physical body should have been mostly unharmed.
"A brief rest before the finals!"
Shen Wushuang announced, deciding to give Tang Lie some time to recover for the sake of relative fairness, especially after his recent battle with Xu Xiaoyu's Fiery Bird.
The school doctor's role came into play, perfectly suited for treating the Wind-Strider and Tang Lie on the spot.
The man and bird lay on the ground together, awaiting treatment, as two doctors busied themselves with various salves and potions.
Crucially, both had sustained injuries in similar areas.
A crowd of onlookers gathered. Tang Lie swore this was the most torturous treatment he had ever experienced.
An hour later,
The healing capabilities of the special potion were indeed potent. Tang Lie could already stand shakily, and the Wind-Strider also appeared to have recovered well.
"Teacher Shen, let's begin!"
Tang Lie straightened himself, his eyes filled with a long-lost confidence.
He had endured humiliation not to prove how extraordinary he was, but to let others know that the disgrace he suffered would be avenged!
The Wind-Strider flapped its wings, its eyes glinting with ferocity and rage.
Facing the impending battle, everyone wasn't optimistic about Chen Shu's chances.
If both were ground-type contract spirits, the outcome might be uncertain, but the Wind-Strider, being of the flying type, possessed incredible speed.
Even with Chen Shu's "descending sitting technique," it would be difficult to utilize effectively.
Chen Shu calmly walked to the edge of the competition stage.
Suddenly, his eyes widened as he looked at Tang Lie, exclaiming, "Young Master Tang, your crotch is on fire again!"
Tang Lie flinched almost instinctively and immediately looked down.
Boom!
At that very moment, the giant slime violently descended, attempting to preemptively crush the Wind-Strider beneath its posterior.
"You're truly insidious!"
Everyone's lips twitched. They hadn't expected Chen Shu to be so treacherous. The staff from the Beast Taming Hall had been looking at Tang Lie, completely oblivious to the competition stage.
Although it was an unexpected move, the Wind-Strider's speed was too great, and it narrowly dodged the attack.
"Damn it! I really underestimated you!"
A bead of cold sweat appeared on Tang Lie's forehead. Fortunately, the Wind-Strider possessed a decent level of vigilance.
If it had truly been sat upon, it would have undoubtedly become another Earth Dragon.
Gurgle! Gurgle!
The slime continued to make its adorable gurgling sounds, appearing harmless.
Only when truly pinned down by it would one understand true despair.
Watching the slime bounce around on the ground, Tang Lie breathed a sigh of relief, immediately followed by surging waves of anger.
The pent-up animosity was finally about to be repaid!
"You think only the three of you can humiliate?"
A smile played on Tang Lie's lips; he looked every bit the villain.
The Wind-Strider landed atop the slime, shaking its rear end provocatively.
"Today, not only will I defecate on your head, but I'll also borrow your toilet paper!"
Chen Shu blinked in surprise, a strange expression appearing in his eyes, which he quickly replaced with one of feigned anger.
Chen Shu declared with righteous indignation, "Tang Lie, you have no shame! Using such a despicable tactic is a disgrace to our Nanjiang Second High School!"
Instantly, the people in the Beast Taming Hall fell silent. They could honestly say they had never been so speechless in their lives.
"Weren't you the one who pioneered the treacherous school of combat?"
