Chapter 220: Chapter 220: This really isn’t biological, right?
In the living room, the Bennett Family matriarch was smiling broadly as she pulled Bella Green aside to ask what they had just discussed.
Bella Green looked at the very gossip-hungry old lady in front of her, unsure whether to laugh or cry. Just as she was about to speak, a blood-curdling scream echoed from the guest room.
The sudden shriek almost startled her into jumping up.
Joanna Ramsey, who was sitting obediently on the side with a teacup, almost threw the cup away.
"Grandma, they..." Bella looked anxiously in the direction of the guest room.
"Oh, it’s fine, it’s fine. Let’s continue talking," the Bennett matriarch said with a laugh, waving her hand dismissively, not bothered at all by her grandson’s pitiful scream.
Bella Green: "..."
Joanna Ramsey: "..."
So, are they really not related by blood?
"Grandma, are you sure you don’t want to check?" Bella tried to remind her.
"No need, once Mason’s done, they’ll come out."
"..." Alright, they clearly aren’t blood-related.
"By the way, Joanna dear, haven’t I seen you before?" The Bennett matriarch suddenly turned her head to look at Joanna.
Joanna was taken aback, then with her cheeks blushing, she lowered her head and mumbled like a mosquito, "Um, maybe."
The Bennett matriarch looked at her for a while, then suddenly slapped her thigh and burst out laughing.
"I remember now, back in kindergarten, Victor once came home wearing the wrong pair of little strawberry underwear, it was yours, right?"
Joanna, blushing as red as a tomato, almost wanted to bury her head into the carpet. Such an embarrassing thing, did it have to be remembered all these years, not to mention...
"Grandma, you recognized even that? How old was I then, in kindergarten?"
"Of course I remember, back then Victor kept shouting at home that he would marry Joanna when he grew up." The Bennett matriarch laughed so hard her eyes turned into slits.
In the distance, Uncle Wu, who was holding a tray of fruit, almost tripped over.
Back then, the second young master always shouted about burning off Joanna’s hair, didn’t he?
Upon hearing this, Joanna paused, then blushed even more, quickly waving her hands, "Grandma, don’t misunderstand, there’s nothing between him and me."
"Oh, nothing, nothing." The Bennett matriarch nodded very cooperatively.
Joanna Ramsey: "..." Why does your expression seem to say otherwise?
The Bennett matriarch looked at the two girls on her left and right, unable to stop smiling.
Finally, two granddaughters-in-law have been found, those two rascals finally have someone willing to take them, it’s not easy.
Then, she looked kindly at Bella Green, patting her hand, "Bella, you’re truly the Bennett family’s lucky star."
Bella Green: "???" o((⊙﹏⊙))o
...
At the dining table, Bella Green was holding chopsticks, nervously looking at Victor Bennett across from her, who was holding a bowl with tears in his eyes, his body trembling, as she subconsciously swallowed.
Then she glanced at Mason Bennett, who appeared indifferent, acting as if nothing happened as he ate his meal leisurely.
"So, uh, are you okay, second young master?" Bella couldn’t resist asking.
Victor Bennett looked at her, biting his lip with an expression of restraint, "I’m fine."
Joanna Ramsey sat with her bowl, head down, her shoulders shaking.
Victor glanced at her, furrowing his brows momentarily before relaxing them, his voice weak.
"Why are you crying? I’m really fine."
Joanna Ramsey couldn’t hold it back, "Pfft..."
Victor Bennett: "..."
"Joanna Ramsey, you jerk, I’m already in this state and you dare laugh at me!"
Victor Bennett was so angry he slammed his bowl onto the table, gritting his teeth as he looked at Joanna, who was laughing so hard she could barely breathe on the other side.
"Why can’t I laugh? Someone else did the justice, can’t I take some joy in it?" Joanna retorted boldly, lifting her neck.
"You..." Victor Bennett slammed the table, just about to erupt.
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a calm, sidelong glance from someone, and immediately shut his mouth, picking up his bowl and burying himself in eating.
