Chapter 42: Chapter 3: The 1st Case of the Criminal Police Team (Please Collect and Vote for Monthly Tickets)
As for the criminal investigation team members who were watching, each one was stunned.
Just now, it was obvious that the old man Wu was at a disadvantage. How could this be possible? Wu the old man was the former head of the criminal investigation team, the top combat champion in the army. Even if he’s older now, no longer at his peak, but Luo Fei is just a newcomer who recently came up from the police station.
"Yang...Yang Mei, is Wu the old man really losing to Luo Fei? Didn’t Captain Zhao always say how amazing Wu the old man is? Is it because he’s too old now?" Wu Xiaoyue had an incredulous look. To her, Wu the old man was an image of a top expert, but now he’s actually losing to Luo Fei, the junior policeman. This made her feel unimaginable.
"I also didn’t expect Wu the old man to lose to Luo Fei. Just a few days ago, my uncle was still saying he couldn’t beat Wu the old man." Yang Mei was equally shocked.
As for Yang Su himself, there’s nothing more to say. People might still have doubts about Wu the old man’s strength. Although mighty in his younger days, now with his age, how much ability does he really have remains unknown. However, Yang Su had practiced with Wu the old man just a few days ago and witnessed Wu’s strength firsthand. In less than ten rounds, Yang was taken down by Wu, proving Wu’s formidable ability.
Now Yang Su looked at Luo Fei with even more enthusiasm. This time, they truly stumbled upon a treasure; not only is he great at solving cases, but his skills are also incredibly strong. Simply a treasure boy.
In the office of the criminal investigation team captain, Zhao Donglai
Wu the old man and Yang Su left Luo Fei behind at the training ground and went to find Zhao Donglai.
"Zhao kid, you’re quite sneaky, huh! Intentionally setting me up for embarrassment, aren’t you? At my age, I’ve never been this humiliated." Wu the old man sat on the sofa, glaring tiger-eyed at Zhao Donglai, expressing his dissatisfaction.
"Wu old man, what are you saying? What did I do?" Zhao Donglai, seeing Wu Gong suddenly showing up, was full of confusion.
Yang Su quickly recounted the happenings at the training ground to Zhao Donglai, and upon hearing it, Zhao was equally astonished; Wu the old man actually lost to Luo Fei!
"Wu old man, it’s a misunderstanding, misunderstanding. You know Luo Fei just transferred from the police station. If I knew he had this strength, I wouldn’t have asked you to train him. I truly had no idea." Zhao Donglai hurriedly explained to Wu Gong.
Naturally, Wu Gong wasn’t truly angry; he was just a bit upset from the recent setback and wanted to vent.
"But Wu old man, is Luo Fei’s strength really that outstanding? Did you hold back at all?" Zhao Donglai cautiously doubted.
"Nonsense, do I look like someone who holds back?" Hearing Zhao Donglai insinuating he held back, Wu the old man immediately flared up.
"Alright, alright, Wu old man, wasn’t I just astonished?" Zhao Donglai quickly apologized.
Only then did Wu the old man decide not to pursue the issue further with Zhao Donglai and said, "If anyone held back it was that lad; his prowess is immensely strong. Even when I was younger, I probably wouldn’t be a match for him."
Upon hearing, both Zhao Donglai and Yang Su were even more shocked.
The events at the training ground had already passed some time ago.
During this period, Luo Fei focused on learning shooting from Wu the old man while also honing combat skills, mastering techniques for swiftly defeating opponents.
Wu the old man had been fought bitterly by Luo Fei in combat, but regained confidence in shooting since Luo Fei was excellent physically but completely inexperienced in shooting. For the first couple of days, Luo Fei was sternly criticized by Wu the old man.
Yet over the following days, Wu the old man was once again astounded by Luo Fei’s terrifying learning ability. Despite just beginning firearms training, Luo Fei’s shooting skills had already reached the level of most criminal investigation team members.
Luo Fei was able to quickly familiarize and master shooting techniques, attributed to his strong memory, quick reaction, and exceptional physical prowess. With these three abilities, Luo Fei seemingly learns anything faster than others.
After fifteen days of training with Wu the old man, Wu frankly told Luo Fei he had nothing more to teach him, recommending Luo to self-train more frequently.
Wu the old man then left, and Luo Fei’s originally scheduled three-month training ended. Luo officially rejoined action group one.
On the day Luo Fei ended his training, Yang Su hosted, and several members of the first group gathered for a meal together.
The first day after finishing the training, Luo Fei received his gun license and his own firearm.
Most members of the criminal investigation team have their issued firearms, yet typically they leave them in the police station’s gun cabinet, only taking them when there’s an emergency for missions.
Carrying a gun might seem prestigious to outsiders, but for criminal investigators, it involves enduring significant psychological pressure.
The criminal investigation team has faced several incidents of gun mishaps, leading to dismissals, with the worst case involving an investigator whose young son took the gun from home and accidentally killed another child.
This explains why team members prefer not carrying their guns personally.
It’s the third day after training ended, and Luo Fei went to work as usual, with Yang Su arriving in the office first.
Before Luo Fei could sit for a few minutes, a colleague from the second group rushed over, announcing a police situation, urging everyone to attend a meeting.
Luo Fei and Yang Su promptly received the news and headed to the meeting room.
Not yet working hours, many hadn’t arrived yet, the meeting room was sparsely populated; from group one were Luo Fei and Yang Su, group two had only their leader Zhang Fan, and group three with leader Wang Dong and one member, and Yang Mei from the technical department.
"It’s an urgent matter, no waiting for others; let me brief the case now." Zhao Donglai scanned the attendees, then immediately plunged into the topic.
"Just earlier, we got a call from Wuyi Town’s police station. A farmer working on the mountain discovered a corpse in the back hills of Wuyi Town. The deceased is a male around fifty years old. The body has knife wounds, suspected to be a murder case."
"You have ten minutes; gather at the front entrance in ten minutes to head out to Wuyi Town. Each group leader is responsible for notifying absent group members."
Both Luo Fei and Yang Su swiftly returned to the office to pack, where Wang Lei and Zhong Jun were already present, leaving Yang Su no time to explain the situation as he urged them to gear up for the mission.
This would be Luo Fei’s first scene investigation since joining the criminal investigation team.
