Chapter 8 Villa Life

Emerging from his spatial dimension, Lu Heng knew that time outside had not changed. He glanced at the time on his phone and, too lazy to go out again, locked the villa's doors and windows. Lu Heng then activated the villa's fresh air system.

He drew all the curtains in the rooms. Fortunately, the villa was luxurious enough that the curtains were automated. Otherwise, he would have been too lazy to pull them for so many rooms.

The villa had three floors and over ten rooms. The main hall extended from the first floor to the roof, allowing a full view of the hall from the third floor.

Looking down from the third floor now, the hall contained only a three-seater sofa and a coffee table, appearing spacious and comfortable.

Lu Heng found a room on the third floor and brought out a laptop from his spatial dimension, connecting it to the internet.

He forgot to mention, the internet, along with water, electricity, and gas, had all been arranged by the intermediary who contacted the previous owner after Lu Heng signed the lease.

Although these services would be cut off in three days, he still had to live there for a few days, and he was accustomed to searching for many things on search engines.

With a map of the entire province, Lu Heng began marking locations one by one.

He marked all the places with large quantities of supplies nearby, thinking that after the apocalypse, he wouldn't be able to scavenge supplies from all over the world, as he didn't have the power to dominate the post-apocalyptic world.

However, the supplies in his vicinity absolutely had to be his.

Lu Heng searched and marked meticulously. Soon, his stomach rumbled, reminding him it was dinner time.

This body had never experienced hunger before, so it automatically reminded him when it was time to eat.

He recalled that in his previous life, he had gone almost three days without a single bite of food at one point.

Putting away the marked map, he stored both the map and the laptop back into his spatial dimension.

Coming down from the third floor, he sat on the sofa in the hall, contemplating what to eat for dinner.

He didn't want to eat the leftovers from lunch; those could be saved for later.

So, he decided to have some KFC tonight.

Well, with fried chicken, there definitely had to be ice-cold beer.

A moment later, two family buckets and two bottles of beer appeared on the coffee table in the hall.

Lu Heng took out a phone and found a popular palace drama to watch.

Why this palace drama?

Because in the afternoon, while browsing his phone, Lu Heng had accidentally stumbled upon a video online. That catchy tune was impossible to forget.

Lu Heng was now riding the wave of popularity, so he checked out the general plot of the palace drama. It looked pretty good.

Now, eating fried chicken, drinking ice-cold beer, and watching a TV series, this life was like a divine existence compared to his life after the apocalypse in his previous life.

After watching the TV series for over three hours, Lu Heng reluctantly turned off his phone, which was starting to get hot.

He put his phone back into his spatial dimension to charge. With a wave of his hand, the items on the coffee table were all collected into his spatial dimension.

It wasn't suitable to dispose of trash outside; accumulated trash could attract people or zombies.

He stood up and pulled open a gap in the curtains, glancing at the dark yard outside. Two days left.

Looking at the villa's large floor-to-ceiling windows, Lu Heng felt a little worried. What if zombies attacked here?

Or what if someone tried to rob him?

Holding his phone, he began searching for renovation companies in the city. He found a company that appeared to be reasonably sized and called them again.

"Hello? What do you need?" a voice replied impatiently from the other end of the phone.

After a second of silence, Lu Heng glanced at the time displayed on his phone. It was ten o'clock at night. Was it too early for business?

"Mm, you're a renovation company, right?"

"Yes, what's up?"

"I have a job for you, are you interested?"

"Sure, but we're not cheap."

"The price is negotiable."

"What kind of job?"

"Oh, it's not a very complicated job. I need you to bring more people to reinforce the doors and windows of my house."

"What? Such a small job, how much work is that? Are you kidding me?"

"Don't hang up yet. The price will definitely satisfy you, and I have many rooms and many windows." Hearing the other party's intention to hang up, Lu Heng quickly spoke to stop them.

"Brother Lu, hurry up and bring this cabinet up..." At this moment, a woman's voice called out from the other end of the phone.

This voice made Lu Heng's body instantly stiffen, and goosebumps rose all over him. He knew that the person being called was definitely not him.

Damn it, he found someone to do a job and found someone with the same surname. Lu Heng could say his luck was truly heaven-defying.

"Wait a moment. So, how do you plan to charge for this job?"

"You name your price. I have seventeen rooms. I'll provide the materials. You just need to bring people to help me reinforce the doors and windows. I need the work done quickly."

"Mm, no problem. As long as the price is right, I'll work until you're satisfied."

The more Lu Heng listened, the more he felt something was off. It was so...

The other party paused for a moment, likely contemplating how much to charge. After five seconds, the other party quoted a price, "Well, since you need it done urgently, I'll have to temporarily pull people from other projects to work for you. Including the lost wages and such, it'll be around eighteen thousand."

"Okay, no problem. I'll send you the address. Can your phone number receive text messages?"

The other party was somewhat incredulous that Lu Heng agreed so readily. After a pause, they replied, "Alright, send me the address where the work needs to be done, and I'll bring my people to your place first thing tomorrow morning."

"Okay, bring more people. I need this job done urgently. You need to reinforce all the doors and windows in half a day. You don't need to bring tools; I have them all here. It's best if you can arrive as soon as it's light."

With the matter settled, Lu Heng couldn't think of anything else he needed to do for the time being.

He glanced at the time. The phone call had lasted over ten minutes. Seeing that it was still early, he found a home exercise bike from his spatial dimension and placed it on one side of the hall.

He plugged in the power, set up another phone in front of the exercise bike, and put on the palace drama he hadn't finished watching last time. Lu Heng exercised while watching TV.

Life lies in movement!

Since other bosses were working out so diligently, he couldn't slack off either.

After working up a sweat, Lu Heng turned off the exercise bike and went back to the master bedroom on the third floor to shower.

He filled the bathtub with hot water and submerged his entire body in it. Gradually, he closed his eyes, sinking his head into the water as well.

Half an hour later, Lu Heng suddenly sat up in the bathtub, gasping for air.

While soaking in the water, he recalled the difficult survival scenes from his previous life. The initial scenes that made him feel suffocated were no less bearable than his current suffocation in the water.

After his bath, Lu Heng took out a set of designer pajamas from his spatial dimension and changed into them. Feeling the comfortable, close-fitting softness, Lu Heng took out another set of luxurious bedding from his spatial dimension.

Alas, he still had to make the bed himself. So tiring.
