“How long do you plan to stay at the Danyang Sect this time, young friend?”
Wuchenzi poured Lu Heng another cup of tea and took a sip from his own.
“I came primarily to find Du Feng, as the crystals available in some shops seem to be running low. I also wanted to inquire about information regarding the Shenyuan Continent. As you know, I’m not very familiar with this place.”
“Does your family not have any records about this Shenyuan Continent?”
It wasn’t as if ordinary reclusive families could completely sever ties with the outside world. Had Lu Heng’s family truly cut off all contact?
Sensing Wuchenzi’s inner doubt, Lu Heng smiled awkwardly. Could he tell him that he came from a post-apocalyptic world, and that he was perhaps the greatest reclusive family in this Shenyuan Continent?
“Heh, indeed. I happened to venture out. My family is protected by a barrier, making it very difficult to enter or exit.”
“Is that so? However, the information I have here cannot be considered entirely comprehensive. Much of the information about the Shenyuan Continent comes from the experiences of various cultivators who traveled abroad. Some of them liked to recount their journeys, and when others heard them, they recorded them and compiled them into travelogues.”
“Yes, the information dissemination here is indeed quite isolated, so that’s understandable.”
“I have a few books here, but they are all unique copies. If you’re not in a hurry to leave, shall I have someone make copies for you?”
Wuchenzi wasn’t being stingy, but few people collected these items, so their production volume was relatively low. They simply didn’t sell as well as basic body-refining or qi-refining manuals.
“How long will it take to copy them?”
“Half a month.” After considering the quantity of books he had and the speed of manual copying, Wuchenzi gave a timeframe.
“If you don’t mind, I can take them back to my small courtyard and transcribe them myself. Let me first see the quantity of books you have; perhaps I can finish in a day.”
“A day? Are you joking?” Wuchenzi was somewhat astonished. He waved his hand, and a pile of books, half his height, accumulated on the ground.
“Yes, a full day and night, I’m confident I can finish.”
Walking to the pile of books, Lu Heng picked one up and flipped through it. He noticed that although the books were stacked high, the paper in each book was quite thick, and the content within wasn’t extensive.
“Alright, you can take them. However, I am rather curious. May I see them while you are copying?”
“Well, this requires the use of a secret item passed down in my family.”
“I see. In that case, never mind. However, your family’s heirloom is truly novel. The recording pen and earphones you showed me last time… alas, I feel that the person who can create such items is quite miraculous.”
Lu Heng smiled awkwardly. If Wuchenzi saw a scanner, wouldn’t his eyes bulge out even more?
Lu Heng stored the books in his spatial dimension and sat down to chat with Wuchenzi for a while. “Why haven’t your old friends from yesterday come today?”
“Ah, those fellows, after receiving the pills you gave them yesterday, they rushed back in a hurry.”
Lu Heng…
“However, the effects of that little blue pill are indeed excellent. His Majesty has used it and praised me greatly. I truly feel undeserving.”
Lu Heng let out a few dry chuckles. “Heh heh heh, just consider the medicine to be something you refined. As for others asking you for it, you can say that the pills are very precious and difficult to refine.”
However, just in case, Lu Heng took out seven or eight small porcelain bottles from his spatial dimension and placed them on the table.
“There are some more here. Take these as well, but these cannot be taken for a prolonged period. You must also control the dosage when giving them to His Majesty.”
This medicine was tolerance-inducing. While it was effective when taken occasionally, prolonged use could lead to resistance.
If it became ineffective later, Lu Heng wouldn’t be able to provide anything better.
“Yes, yes, this is a treasure. I will also control it and not give it to others casually, hahaha.” Wuchenzi revealed a knowing expression and quickly put away the medicine bottles.
“Should I find someone to call Du Feng back? The chances of you meeting him outside are probably slim. He has quite a lot of daily business, and sometimes when I want to find him, I have to send people to several places to locate him.”
“That’s fine, or I can give you the crystals, and you can hand them over if you see him.”
“That works too. It will save you another trip.”
“Here are ten thousand of them.”
Lu Heng took out a storage bag from his embrace and handed it to Wuchenzi.
“Alas, I am becoming increasingly curious about your family. However, young friend, it is best to reveal as little as possible about your family’s affairs to outsiders. A reclusive family like yours, possessing so many treasures and secrets, can easily attract the covetous eyes of others.”
“Yes, I’ve only mentioned it to you so far.” Lu Heng smiled indifferently. At worst, he could simply disappear from this world or assume another identity. After all, the information here wasn’t very advanced, making it not difficult to live freely under a new identity.
“Indeed, it’s always better to be cautious.”
Leaving Wuchenzi’s alchemy room, Lu Heng returned to the small courtyard where he was temporarily staying.
Upon returning to the courtyard, Lu Heng immediately closed the doors and windows. He then released his slow-moving turtle to stand guard, in case anyone entered the courtyard, so he could return immediately.
Back in his spatial dimension, Lu Heng wasted no time. He appeared directly in a printing shop within the city.
He scanned the books he had obtained from Wuchenzi page by page, then organized them into corresponding files and stored them on a USB drive.
By the next morning, Lu Heng, who had worked all night, had finally scanned all the books into digital format. He could understand all the text, so there was no need to translate them into the simplified characters of his post-apocalyptic world.
“You finished copying them so quickly?” Wuchenzi was quite surprised when he saw Lu Heng returning the books. However, Lu Heng didn’t mention that after scanning them, he had slept in his spatial dimension before returning.
If he had returned earlier, Wuchenzi’s astonishment would likely have been even greater.
“Yes, it’s all done.” Without much explanation, Lu Heng knew he couldn’t easily explain the technological products of his post-apocalyptic world to these people.
“Alright, then, are you planning to leave now that you’re done?”
“Yes, I haven’t seen Lu Daniu in a while. I wonder how his studies at the Danyang Sect are going?”
“Hahaha, I thought you had forgotten about that boy. Don’t worry, that child is very diligent and well-liked in the academy. All the old scholars are very fond of him, and he’s also getting along well with the disciples.”
Speaking of the boy, Wuchenzi had given specific instructions earlier, so no one at the Danyang Sect had bullied him.
“Where is he attending classes now? Would it be convenient for me to go and see him?”
“No problem, I’ll have someone take you there right away. They should be in class at this time, so it’s perfect for you to go and see him.”
