Chapter 436: Chapter 436: Permafrost Canyon
Chapter 436: Permafrost Canyon
In the Soul Society, after Kai and Unohana Retsu created Chiyori, nearly a month passed before Esdeath uncovered some clues.
Subsequently, Kai brought Esdeath to a specific location.
Creating life, particularly powerful life forms, was no simple task.
Kai could have handled it all himself, but doing so would have diminished Esdeath’ sense of involvement.
Thus, Kai guided Esdeath to an island to alter its ecosystem, using it as a foundation for her experiments in life creation.
It was worth noting that Esdeath’s core ability had evolved beyond the Devil’s Essence.
When Esdeath amassed tens of millions of reputation points, Kai exerted considerable effort to enhance her abilities.
He assisted her in fusing the Devil’s Essence with her Frost Aura, amplifying her ice-based powers.
Additionally, he infused principles of time and space into this ability, resulting in a new power: Permafrost Paradise.
After this ability emerged, Kai invested tens of millions of reputation points to elevate it to SS level.
This ability was formidable, capable of freezing time and space at will.
Escaping such a time-space freeze demanded an exceptionally high level of immunity.
Yet, despite its strength, Esdeath still could not surpass Giada.
Giada, too, had been enhanced through extraordinary means.
Her five core beasts merged briefly into the Goddess of Chaos, a combined entity with staggering combat power, rivaling the likes of King and Ryomen Sukuna.
Though this form was short-lived, unstable, and lacked endurance, during its existence, it could confront even King head-on without fear.
This fused beast was a product of Kai’s concept to maximize Giada’s beast abilities.
Thus, when it came to enhancements, Esdeath remained outmatched by Giada.
Back to the main story, after Esdeath arrived and established the Permafrost Canyon, her life-creation process began.
Kai taught her to harness the dangerous essence within her Permafrost Paradise to create life.
Every system had its foundational roots, capable of transforming common life forces based on their properties.
For instance, the most common Devil Fruit in this world could convert physical strength, spirit, and desire into unique abilities.
The same principle applied to Haki.
This distinction defined the differences between systems.
The Permafrost Paradise ability retained key components from its predecessor, the Devil’s Essence.
When redeemed in the Avatar Mall, the Devil’s Essence manifested as an ability rather than the imperial equipment from Esdeath’ original world.
After understanding this ability revealed its foundation within a specialized system.
Kai identified it as the essence of super dangerous species from Esdeath’ previous life, terming it the "Dangerous Species Factor."
However, Esdeath’s essence had been uniquely transformed into ice, limiting her life creation to ice-attributed beings.
Consequently, the alienated beasts and newly born special life forms in the Permafrost Canyon were products of Esdeath’s experimental endeavors.
It was fitting to classify them as dangerous species.
As Esdeath learned to wield her power to transform and create life within the Permafrost Canyon, she discovered an unexpected delight.
In this desolate, sealed, eternally frozen canyon, she could share an intimate, two-person world with Kai.
As a result, her learning progress was deliberately slow, relying heavily on Kai’s personal guidance to advance.
Even so, Kai spent several months in the Permafrost Canyon alongside Esdeath.
Most of that time was devoted to their companionship.
The culmination of their efforts was the birth of an elf-like little being.
The snowy wind howled fiercely.
Kai stepped through the accumulated snow, arriving at a spot emitting a faint yellow light.
There, a simple yet exquisite bronze-colored castle came into view.
Gazing at the castle, Kai recalled his time living there with Esdeath.
She was likely the one who relished both work and play the most.
He opened the door and stepped into the castle.
It felt like entering a new world, entirely detached from the icy, snowy exterior.
The interior exuded familiar luxury.
Warm red carpets, silk wall decorations, silver ornaments, ancient paintings, bronze statues, candles, and other essential decor were all present.
"It’s so warm in here! I was freezing outside," Jin said with a smile, following Kai into the castle.
Her bright eyes sparkled as she added, "It’s still cold now..."
With that, she dove into Kai’s collar and declared, "The master’s arms are the warmest."
Observing Jin’s antics, Kai tapped her head with his finger and continued walking without responding.
He sensed a familiar presence as someone pushed open the door.
He swiftly approached a wall, where a staircase conveniently appeared.
"Tap, tap," came the sound of footsteps, slow and deliberate.
A girl resembling a pure white fairy emerged, her long ice-blue hair cascading and her skin pale as snow.
She wore a mid-to-short white skirt, adorned with white silk, her overall appearance pristine.
The girl stepped casually from the staircase, as if emerging from the wall, and glanced toward the door.
Her gaze met a pair of playful eyes.
Her icy blue eyes flickered with joy, but her expression quickly turned neutral.
She tilted her head slightly and said in a cold, sarcastic tone, "What wind brought Father here?"
Hearing her tone, Kai approached and replied jokingly, "The northwest wind! So the father came to join his little rich girl. Shirokori, you must take your father in!"
As Kai drew near and spoke, Shirokori maintained her icy demeanor.
She did not respond directly but continued, "It seems you remember you have a daughter here. I thought I didn’t exist."
"How could that be?" Kai said.
"Shirokori, you’re my treasure! What, no hug for me?"
Kai extended his fingers, brushing her cheek with a smile.
Shirokori’s expression softened slightly at his words.
"Is that your request? Since you’re my father, I’ll reluctantly comply," she said coldly.
She stretched out her arms and threw herself into Kai’s embrace.
Feeling her actions were too forward, she added, "It’s not what I wanted."
As she spoke, she buried her face in Kai’s arms.
Jin, nestled in Kai’s embrace, felt a soft pressure threatening to overwhelm her.
Fortunately, her resilience kept her unfazed.
"Shirokori’s words are so aloof! You used to be my little shadow, following me everywhere, your words were also very sweet then." Kai said.
He gently stroked her hair, which had an ethereal texture, while feeling her tight embrace.
Jin, undeterred, refused to be smothered.
"That was when I was naive. Those words no longer hold true." Shirokori retorted.
Her cheeks, hidden in Kai’s arms, flushed slightly as she spoke.
